Scrooge's design harkens back to ACE playing far too much Rayman Origins before designing him, which was the main source of inspiration, and why he is given "phantom" Rayman-like limbs. Additionally, his face was designed to resemble a muppet, ironic, because Scrooge was one of the few characters in the Muppet movie not to actually be a muppet.
Originally designed to rob banks, Wily retrofitted Scrooge into a battle robot with the ability to absorb the energy of it's opponents.
Scrooge is a reactive boss, and reacts to the Player's actions and position. If Scrooge can see a shot coming his way, he will attempt to jump out of the way and launch a Hum Bug Bomb. Occasionally he will launch his fist towards the player in an attempt to steal their health, (on lower difficulties it's only a small amount, but on higher ones he restores and steals a significant portion!), and finally, he can throw a spread of explosive coins, which covers the entire floor with a quick blast.
In the initial release, Scrooge was not coded with an obtainable weakness, but in the current release he is weak to both Candy Cane and Twinkle Buster.
