Cheat Man does exactly that.
Mega Man CX
Cheat Man is one of the eight bosses, built by Dr. Light in an attempt to stop the fake Mega Man that Dr. Wily had created. He attacks with a variety of powerful and 'unfair' attacks, most of which can destroy the player instantly, such as temporary erasing the floor or glitching the screen to camouflage the spiked balls he then throws. He can also teleport the player around so that their shots end up hitting themselves as they try to attack Cheat Man, as well as reversing gravity to briefly trap the player on the ceiling of the room. His health periodically regenerates throughout the battle, and he can even swap health bars with the player's if his health is lower than theirs. When confronted during the boss refights, he is assisted by a Gently Weeping Guitar, a Jealous Bass, and a Beaten Drum, all from Mother 3, which gives Cheat Man additional abilities, such as holding the current player character (either the fake Mega Man, or Quick Man) in place and unavoidably attacking them.
He is weak to the Mega Buster, which isn't part of the fake Mega Man's default arsenal and must be obtained by defeating the real Mega Man first.
His defeat gives the fake Mega Man the Cheat Sabre, a melee attack that instantly destroys enemies and most bosses. However, if the player tries to use Cheat Sabre on Cheat Man himself during the boss refights, the weapon will be reversed onto the fake Mega Man and instantly destroy him instead.
Cheat Man is the boss of Tier 6. Unlike in Mega Man CX, he lacks all of his instant killing capabilities, and is more orientated to breaking the fourth wall, such as sending the letters of the initial dialogue box to attack the player when the fight begins, or the tiles in the room glitching as he loses health, changing the cityscape background of his origin stage to eventually resembling his original boss room. He floats around the room with a 'glitch shield' in front of him, which absorbs the player's projectiles and sends them falling from the ceiling, necessitating the player to attack him from behind. He is also capable of blasting out a 'glitch beam' that reduces the player's HP to 1 if they get caught in it.
The abilities he retains from CX is the ability to blast out three reflecting shots around the room and sending the player into the ceiling, although in this game he merely warps the player as opposed to reversing gravity. His weakness is Flash Stopper.
- In MaGMML2, Cheat Man is the only tier boss to not reappear anywhere in the hub world after being defeated, neither in Knight Man's Chateau Chevaleresque nor in any of the other tiers. However, he does reappear in the Tier X level "Deep Thoughts," where he accuses the player of cheating.
