Greetings people who are interested or already have play guild wars (you clicked right?) The best online adventure online until the release of Guild Wars 2.

No monthly fee, just a one way 15$ ticket to online goodness.

Does anyone play this? I wonder as it requires a stragetic mind and tacticians approach. Well IF someone plays it here then let's discuss the great world here and share our characer names:

For newcomers and interested: Guild Wars is a self proclaimed mmo, although many review sites don't quite agree. You see GW takes an unique approach to the franchise. With an incredible low level cap 20, a very strong story (with cutscenes), fully instanced world and no to no downtime does the game rewrite the genre, or rather, create a new one.

No travel time with one click teleports everywhere, instant level 20 for pvp-only character (if you want to play pve you need to level to twenty, but that's what pve is about! Those levels are made FUN. Yeah leveling and fun in one sentence, I know!) no potions and drinking crap, easy to play but hard to master.

Some note on the expansions and stuff:

Guild wars exist out of 3 large continents, and to play one one you need one of the 3 games. This means that this are 3 standalone game mmos, which you can combine for more fun, more classes unique to continents and stuff. There is one expansion (Eye of the North) which requires you to have one of the 3 chapters. The trial is about Guild Wars prophecies (the original) but if you consider getting the game than consider the newest of all: Nightfall, the one which I have

Ironically, I got this game for christmas a few years back, but I haven't found the time or a stable enough connection to play.

I used to play this but I just couldn't get into it. I still own Nightfall though... somewhere... But yea, it's an alright game. I still say WoW is better though.

Heard of it so many times, but I was afraid of playing it.

Long story short, MMORPG's aren't my thing. Even though I really want them to be.

Free Trial... Might as well try it. Probably go for whatever offensive magic class they have.
EDIT: I found it really boring. I was Tiergan, an Elemental/Necromancer. But I just couldn't get into it at all. It was kind of cool being able to rain fire upon enemies while surrounding them with undead, but only cool, not fun.

Gets better if you play it with other people if you weren't. Guild Wars isnt much fun as a solo MMO unless you really liked FF12
