Well, I'm not going to let a little something like a harddrive failure stop me.
Announcing an new 8bit styled game, (similiar to Megaman 9, yo.), from Music, to gameplay, and of course graphics. I'm trying to stick fairly close to what the NES could pull off.. providing of course it could store about several hundred meg in graphic tiles. XPSo yeah, this has been in the works for a few months. No "proper" demo yet, but a short preview of the game can be found at the bottom, And, what the hell, might as well show screenshots: Click Here for Screenshots Plasmaman recorded a Lets Play of one of the very early demos, so you can get a fairly good feel of the game from watching that. (The level design has been tightened up somewhat since this demo mind.) I'm not sure how much content the first "proper" demo will have, but here's a short preview of the game:Click here for the preview demo. Demo Controls: (Default) Arrow Keys: Movement Shift: Jump. Press twice for a double jump rolling attack. Ctrl: Use sword. Hold down and move to do the charging attack. Play. Enjoy. C+C. Comment. (Please?) What-ever. Bare in mind.. it's still quite buggy in places. If you encounter any abnormalities, please tell me. I'm trying to iron out as many as possible. Ditto if anything comes across as overly cheap or annoying. The Ninjaboss and Steve will come later in the game, thus explaining the jump in difficulty. It's just a preview after all. It's released a bit earlier than I normally would've, but i'm not repeating the same mistake I made with Stronghold. EDIT: Link fixed, demo no longer skips the waterfall stage.

Trust me to release a broken demo:
New link: http://cosmic-hero.com/kottt/kott_0.1.6.exe The other one skips one of the stages that was meant to be there. :/ Also, the game doesn't like firefox very much, as it causes the River and Waterfall stages to lag excessively. If the URL doesn't work, its because i'm uploading an update. Give it a minute.

That was p. rad. A few times I could jump into walls. also, that part where the skeletons infinitely come out of that one door and you have to jump on them, its not actually infinite, thus screwing me over.

EDIT: Or not. Damnit I forgot that Multimedia Fusion Patch maker actually requires you to include an installer with the game.

I found a strange bug. You can skip the stage boss of the first stage if you just jump across the deathpit and go in the door.

In the first room with pushing boxes, I jumped into a wall and then some floating enemies and a platform flew across the room. Were they ghooooosts? :P

Really great job, ACE. The game is awesome. I particurally like the boss battles[my favourite so far being those goblins on cannon whose name I forgot].
Also found a glitch/bug: In the start of the waterfall level, I had 3 lives left and accidentally touched the wall of spikes and died. When I respawned, I died once again. :/

I would also suggest removing lives altogether. They just frustrate people and should be left in the arcades, as they have no real purpose otherwise.

When you die in the water and an enemy is still on your sword from a spin attack, they keep on spinning after you die. And if you die farther up than an enemy, at times the enemy will be at the bottom of the screen. It was fun and played well.
It really wasn't difficult, even on the hardest setting.

Don't worry about lives, they'll serve no real perpose gameplay wise. But they will reset your high score. That's it.
So most people can just ignore them, but I will be putting in a online high score table. Theres a reason they haven't been impilimented since the original MSN demo 3 months ago or indeed since the start of the game. It took me several attempts to beat the original versions of the bosses (the "Asshole" versions which were completely and utterly unfair and didnt even give you warnings before attacks. Think the Ninja boss but much worse. XD), and I then figured "You know, putting in the game over might be a bad idea." Of course all of the bosses have gotten alot easier. It's not like i'm making a sadistic romhack here. Quote:
You are playing level 1 and 2 respectively. :P

I had doubted a spring-based boss in a waterfall stage... I was wrong.

One more thing, in the stage with the piles of junk carrying the platforms, the screen wont scroll or something. I cant do anything. If I got too far to the left I fall under the junk.

Damnit? Steve's cut off?
Guah. Enter 23 as the password to access Steve. I'll fix the glitch when I've actually gotten some sleep. Also, that isn't junk. Look closer. Or at the screenshots.

That's a pretty great game Ace, although there were a few errors....
When he's climbing a ladder, parts of his back become the bronze/gold color of the shield, and during the death animation, the halo, wings, and harp, keep disappearing and reappearing as he flies up (I'm not sure if this was truly an error or just the way you made it look. It just looked odd to me is all.) Also, he seems a bit too floaty when he jumps. But other than those things, it's pretty good, can't wait to see the finished product.

It's a pretty good game overall, WUT mode provides a pretty good challenge. Though taking 20-30 minutes to kill that fucking ninja on wut was annoying.
Yellow seems to move really slowly when you land from a jump sometimes. Sorry for late reply, but I didn't have a chance to play it until now. |

The Ninja will actually go fairly late in the game, but it was one of those "spur of the moment" "lets make a ninja boss." Quote:
Thanks for the glitch reports guys and positive comments.
