Default Shike's Sprites

I have two sprites of MegamanX Characters, and a sprite of a nonmegaman character, all in the Style of 8-bit megaman.


First is Axl, with and without gun.

Second is Vile, once again, with and without gun.

Last is Deadpool, the Merc with a mouth.(From Marvel)

Hm. Axl uses 8+3 colours, means that he use 3 spritelayers. Vile use 5+2 Colours, means that he use 2 Spritelayers. Deadpool use even less colours.
Try to reduce Axl´s colours to 6+2 colours, since Rockman uses two spritelayers.
Than I will give you my personal feelings about them.

......I'm not entirely certain what the term "8+3" means. I get the 8 part, since he has 8 colors, but I'm not so sure about the +3.

Each sprite must have in general one colour for the background, meaning that you have only the choice of 3 instead of 4 colours for any 8-bit sprite.
16-bit and further allows you up to 15+1 colour per sprite. With +1, +2, +3 are simple said the colours for the background.
3+1 is one sprite alone and 6+2 are two combined sprites. I hope you understand what I´m trying to say.
By the way, more than 8 sprites, cause the game to flicker, so the most sprites have 3+1 colours like the metool in order to keep the game liquid.

5+2 colours. Impressive, really impressive, although you could have used 6+2, the sprite looks pretty decent. Good job Shike. *thumbs*

Well, if i have room for another color, do you think i should give him back the blue of his head and chest gems or should i give him back the orange of his hair and belt?

Or should i just leave it as it is?

Try it out and decide for yourself, as long as the colours harmonate with it.
If you are still unsure about it later, post all variations here and make a poll.
We can lead you to the door, but you have to go through it by yourself.

I think Orange hair is the way to go, just because he uses more pixels of orange than of blue.

Well, now i've got some edits to upload. I colored the stardroids from Megaman V for the Gameboy. Far as i can tell from searching the forum, only one person over here has done that (Boilman i think), but when i went to take a look, the link lead me to a no-image error page, so I'll just throw these up here.
(BTW, i know they don't follow the NES color capabilities, but i wanted them to match the colors in the oficial artwork)


















Also, a touch off topic, but does Sunstar count as a stardroid? I know wily made the stardroids based off his design, but i'm not sure whether or not he fits in their category.

I made X's Shadow Armor from X6 in the Xtreme style. (if you want one true to the system's color palette style, replace the orange and red with white)

Maybe you could keep an alternate palette through a separate idle stance? Like the way they do it on the site? I'd love to see what it looks like either way.

Axle the Red/Spike Rosered. in 8-bits. While this sheet could be fine as it is, i plan on expanding it (more poses the original has, attacks, etc.)
I was inspired to make this after seeing Soviet Commando's Model based off of him.

I swear i didn't. I didn't even know you had made one. I think it's just that we were recreating the same armor on the same character, and at that size it's easy for them to come out similar.
