Lets get this ball rolling shall we? Simple enough, whats your favourite and least favourite things in Castlevania? If you dislike the series, then.. don't bother posting.
Game: Favourite: Super Castlevania 4, Dawn of Sorrows. Best controls of the series, fun. And Dawn of Sorrow - it's great in concept man. Taking the souls of enemies - awesome. Hate: Dracula X Snes, Castlevania Legends, Castlevania 2. Terrible controls, terrible ideas, and plain unbalanced. Applies to all three. Character Favourite: Maria - She freakin' kicks ass! Hate: Death - Annoying git. Nuff said. Boss: Favourite: Slogra or the Dancing Ghosts from Castlevania 4. I love the idea of the dancing ghost, and Slogra.. Look at him, he rocks! Hate: Dracula from Dracula X Snes. Nuff. Said. Music Piece. Favourite: Castlevania Portrait of Ruin - Bloodlines Bequethed, or Castlevania 4 - Clockwork Mansion. Hate: Castlevania Chronicles - Tower of Gears. Ergh, just listening to that music makes me feel dizzy >.< Or.. if they count... these.

Game:
Favourite: Aria Of Sorrows(DoS would be here but I still havn't gotten it yet, I take it I should huh? As long as it's longer than PoR) Kicking ass and Taking Souls. What's not to love? Plus there's many weapons other than the Whip which is always good. Hate: Castlevania 2 Do I need a reason other than the obvious? Character Favourite: Charlotte-Hey, I long Magic using chicks... Don't look at me like that! Hate: Whatever the name of the main Vamp in Lament of Innocene was. GOD I HATED HIM! Most annoying asswipe ever. Boss: Favourite: Succubus from LoI. Just look at her! *drools* Either that or the Undead Parasite from the same game. Interesting idea have the hole room be a part of the boss. Hate: Death from LoI. Most impossible boss I've ever fought. Took me AGES to learn how to dodge everything. Once I did though, it was cake I guess.... I'd say my fave music but I tend to listen to my own collection instead of the in game stuff. |

Game:
Favourite: Dawn of Sorrow. I just luvs it in every way imaginable. I don't think I can eplain without fanboying all over it. Aria of Sorrow gets a close second place. As you can see, I like variety. Too bad the games like grinding so much. Hate: Every Castlevania where you don't have perfect control over your jumps. Wow, I suck so hard at playing games with uncontrolable jumps that it's a wonder I get past the first or second stages. Plus, the classic Castlevanias tend to be additionally inhumanly hard. I didn't even bother playing the NES ones... Character Favourite: Death! *fanboys* I'm not sure why, but I lust love him to death. I mean... Well that was oddly phrased now. Hate: Hmm... I don't think there's a character I hate, but I'll go with those I care least about: Random Belmont X. I dislike all those Belmonts who only appeared in a single game and thus didn't have any chance to develop any character at all or grow on me. Of course, Richter is the exception here, since he was in more than some games and actually had a tiny bit of character development. Boss: Favourite: DEATH-- Alright... Almost all bosses from DoS. Menace, Gergoth, Puppet Master and Dea-- Soma, to name a few. Hate: Abbadon can go die in a fire. SotN Death is a disgrace, getting knocked over after barely scraping you. Hell, almost all of SotN's bosses were pussies, and I'm saying this as a person who likes easy games. Music Piece. Favourite: Too much to choose from, but again my eye falls onto DoS. Some of it's tunes were great. My absolute favouite has probably got to be it's version of Illusionary Song. SotN had also great music, but not because the music sounded good or anything, but rather because it was very athmospheric. Hate: Not sure. Castlevania had mostly great music. I think the closest that comes to this is Vampire Killer, simply because it has somewhat gotten on my nerves with all those incarnations of it. And it's still great. Of course, all this doesn't take into account the games I have never played - which means, pretty much the majority of them.

My turn, yo.
Games: Favorites: Sorrow Series: Probably the best branch of the CV franchise. I like the Characters and enemies, storylines didn't totally suck either. DoS is the better of the two, in my opinion. Bloodlines: Yeah, I played this over the summer because I always wanted too, and loved it. It looked great visually and sounded great as well. I liked a lot of the visual effects that I didn't know Genesis could do. :V Symphony: Gotta pay homage to the turning point in the series' career. Though I don't drool over it and offer baby lambs to it like other fans, I find it great in all the right spots. Music fit the mood perfectly and we got to witness the voicing talents of Microsoft Sam playing Alucard. x) Circle of the Moon: So yeah, Tox told me to rip Circle of the Moon for the CV section and I kinda cringed at first, because I had heard it wasn't great. Well, sometime before the first and last enemy rip, I fell in love with this game over time. Once you get into this game, you forget the fact you're on a GBA game, because it looks and sounds better than what is usually pumped out on that. Curse of Darkness: Let's be honest here, the only thing that sucked about CoD, and LoI for that matter, were the boring as hell expansive areas. You spend more time trekking in that game than the Oregon Trail. However, look past all of this and you have some gold. Music was subliminal and fit whatever tediously long area you were going through. The enemies were well brought to life and some of those Bosses gave you that "OMG, I'm dead" feel to them when they came out. Also, raising Devils is awesome, don't deny it. I just noticed that all my favorites are games not directly starring a Belmont. Someone needs to relay this info to Konami ASAP. Dislikes: Castlevania 2: Ugh, besides being one of those games impossible to beat without reading up on it online to know what to do next, this game was shafted from the beginning. The music was great, but sadly that was the only good thing about it. The worst part of this game was the anti-climactic final battle with Dracula that ends in literally 5 seconds. Portrait of Ruin: Ok, I was hyped for this because DoS before it set the bar so high. Man was I let down. Like CV2, the music was its only good part. (Though I didn't care much for the Iron Blue Intention remix) Also Vincent, greedy priests are always good. 95% of the game was recycled in one way or another from a pre-existing game. DoS reused alot too, but they at least brought new content to the table. The only new thing this game brought forth was babysitting. ![]() Also, this game had Charlotte and Jonathan, who were the worst things to ever crawl into a CV game... But it did have Stella who is hot so yeah. CV 4: Eh, I'll be honest here; I didn't care much for CV 4. I'm not sure what draws you guys all to it, but it wasn't excellent for me at all. It had the weird jumping problem as its first 3 and this was the biggest downside to those. Like always, the music was the highlight. To me, Bloodlines had this game beat on all fronts. ![]() Characters: Jonathan and Charlotte: Yuck. These two were the worst two to ever be in a game. Besides being totally unappealing in terms of limited personality and feelings, (" lol Charlotte you are such a kid. i'm a manly man and am also not a kid. this whip is bad it killed my dad. bawww im emo." "lol Jonathan stop calling me a kid im a woman i have boobs, k?" ) they also have absolutely nothing going for them. These are the picturesque "created for one game only filler" characters. Also, they have annoying VAs who need to burn in a pit as well. Soma Cruz: One of the characters that Konami doesn't seem to hate. They took time to actually develop him as a character and not as someone you merely use ingame. You got a feel for him what with his being Dracula incarnate and all. ![]() Alucard: 'Nuff said. Just geniunely awesome. Music: Because I can't be bothered to figure out which games each piece of music was found in, I'll just list the tracks separately. Bloody Tears: Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. Anyone who knows me at all know this is my absolute favorite CV theme, It's also my favorite vgm in general. It's been reincarnated so many times it's not even funny, but that's because it's so good! Symphony's version is easily the best of the lot. So Metal! Beginning: My second favorite intro CV theme. You know you're on a long journey when you hear this seeing you off. Too many others to share: Yeah, pretty much every song is a winner. >_>

Lemme see...
Game: Favourite: Dracula X Chronicles It was one hell of a remake and the bonus features certainly kept me going Symphony of the Night Nothing will ever come close... At least that's what I think Hate: Dracula X Snes and Castlevania Legends The controls felt plain sluggish... Character Favourite: Dracula X Chronicles Richter Belmont - Best Belmont that had few moves that work efficiently. Hate: Frankenstein in Castlevania - That boss was annoying because of his damn familiar... Boss: Favourite: Memory of Whip - Just goes to show how freakin strong Richter really is... Hate: Dracula X SNES Dracula - Freakin annoying stage... VERY ANNOYING Music Piece. Favourite: Dracula X Chronicles Vampire Killer - Can't get the song outta my head in a good way. Hate: I don't think there's a single song in the Castlevania series I hate...

Favorites:
Games Aria of Sorrow. Haven't played DoS or SotN yet.... But I'm sure i'll add them once I do. Bosses Death: He practically shows charector development just through attack patterns... And harmony he had dialog too... Legion (Specifically saint): Multipart bosses rock. Skull Knight: It lead to an interesting battle. Living armors (Well they are kinda sub-bosses): I like to think! They require a little more thought than just attack the weak spot!. Standard Enemies (Cause they need love too) Bone Pillar: I have no clue why but they were my favorite of the original. Well them and the Skele-Dragon. Red Skeleton: Yay regen? I don't know they just apeal to me. Flea Armor: They're funny enough said. Axe Armor: They're just cool. Alura Une: Une is fun to say and the other reasons are kind of obvious. Durahan: Headless knight. Peeping eye: Harmless! Thats why they are great. Dislike: Games: NONE! Bosses: CV1 medusa: Long story I rather not tell. Lets just say sheep me from progressing for a long time... Standard Enemies: Medusa Head: Do I need to say why? Medusa Head (gold): Because I felt they need to be put here twice.

Hoo boy; here we go. I'll say now, I have not by any means played all the games thus far.
Favourite game Super Castlevania IV. The second one I played (the first being Castlevania NES), and it had overall superb... everything. Mostly the music and the controls that turn me on here. I also give a shout out to Castlevania II, which I haven't beaten yet. Why, why does Talon give a shout to it? Because it's actually hard. I haven't played enough to have a least favourite, though Dracula X SNES would be the one to fill that spot if any. It just lacked overall. Favourite stage Castlevania: Dracula X - First level. Aren't I just the paradox? Frankly, I thought everything about the first level of that game was pure epic win (the song, the background, <3). The rest of the game can go die in a fire, but, that level was great. Least favourite would probably be... hell, DX's second stage >.> Favourite character Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiichter Belmont, preferably in his original incarnation versus his SotN one. I don't have a least favourite. Favourite boss That one's tough to answer. I'd have to say it's probably the three guardians in SC IV. I wish I knew the names of anybody other than Death >.> Medusa from SC IV is my least favourite; she's too damn easy. Favourite songs The first is Dracula Castle from SotN. Something... something about that song, I don't know what, but it's awesome. The second is Bloodlines from Dracula X SNES (yes, I prefer that version. Something about the instruments used). Least favourite song? Like such a thing exists. --- I find great amusement in the fact that the majority of my favourite things come from the game I liked the least thus far. Go figure, huh?

Game:
My favourites would have to be Aria of Sorrow, followed by Dawn of Sorrow, and Symphony of the Night. I love the Soul System they introduced, not to mention the controls were pretty good for a hand-held. *glares at HoD* Symphony of the Night is pretty good, albeit somewhat easy for now. Haven't completed the whole game yet, so I can't say for certain. Least favourite would have to be either Harmony of Dissonance or Dracula X, for the SNES. The controls are stiff for both (and as ACE demonstrated, Dracula is a pain), and overall, I despised HoD's music, characters, and Max Slimer. Character: I really favoured playing as (DoS) Julius Belmont, although only for the gameplay. For story, I'd go with (AoS) Soma. I seem to dislike Richter; no real reason here. Boss: I enjoy fighting Abaddon and Gergoth. I mean, you're slaying a rotting, dinosaur-esque thing, that doesn't die after falling down a tower (though, neither does Soma, but... >_>) Least favourite? SotN's Galamoth. >:/ Music: My favourite would have to be the Floating Garden from Aria of Sorrow. Least favourite? *shrugs* Circle of the Moon's Catacomb theme.

A-Ace...
How can you possibly hate him?! DEATH? Game: Favourite: DoS and PoR. The RPG element in both games was good. DoS was awesome because it had the soul system. Death robes+Deaths scyther+Satan ring=Death. And we even have Deaths soul! And then theres Aguni and Hellfire. Hellfire FTW! The creature, 'Nuff said. Use that said and you become the new grim reaper. AWESOME. PoR simply rocked. Hate: AoS: I think it's only because I played DoS first, it made AoS look like shit. Character Favourite: Alucard!... wait, what? Oh. Maxim from HoD and John Morris. Oh, I liked Soma too, I guess. Julius is only good for his Cross fire attack. Hate: Abbadon can burn inside a volcanoe if you ask me. Graham too. oh, and Hammer. and that priest from PoR. Boss: Favourite: Death from DoS. I killed him on my first try before he even used the huge death scythe A attack on full mana (The one with Huge souls like Warg attack). Bat company was fine. Oh, and the menace. Try dueling him with iron golem using a chaos ring. Tell me it does not rock. Hate: Abbadon. I don't hate aguni, but it was boring. Dimitrii was too easy. Use soul attack #1. While he copies it, use number 2... and on and on. You can kill him without getting hit even once that way. Music Piece. Favourite: No idea. Hate: No idea. |

Music:
Likes: Most of aria of Sorrow's music. The intro castle one (Sorry I don't know the actual names by heart...) Heck most of everything. Really Good to listen to. Dislikes: Castlevania Boss themes: They work well for a boss fight. Really well. But only because you're busy enjoying the boss fight. Listening to them alone... They're not so great... I think there one I enjoy... And final boss fight musics were good... I just don't think they quite measure up to the rest of the music. A few are just randomish and adruptly start and stop at odd places..

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow... My first Castlevania I ever played. Song: Illusionary Song from the same game. Boss: Adremmelch from Circle of The Moon. Besides *Can't remember her name... The chick who summons Dracula.*, it was the only boss to seriously freak me out. Hated Castelvania: Umm... I've only played 4, but HoD was my least favorite.. I still loved it, but not as much. Music: CotM's Machine Tower. ARGH! I hate dungeons with the name "Tower!" Boss: Dragon Zombies. Tag-team= Me dead. The one on the right cheap-shotted me CONSTANTLY while I tried to kill the other one.
