This is just a stupid result of the right-wing's fear of otaku culture and the left-wing's fear of upsetting the right too much.

Honestly... If I still get my robot-anime I'm indifferent. It's once you take my Gundam that I'll start caring.

Japan governer is putting a ban on broadcasting violent anime and anime that has skimpy clothing, homosexuals, and various other things that make anime awesome.

I am with Zyro's though, So long as Gundam remains, and it stays GUNDAM, then I'm more or less fine. Most anime's I buy on DVD so it isn't going to effect me as much

Ridding Gundam would be hard. There's the Gundam store that has to go, the Gundam Cafe, the 1/1 Gundam, the fanbase, the desire to destroy China's lame 1/1.2 gundam, all the DVD's, the income it brings, the Gunpla cup, and so on

Even if this ban passes all that will happen is that the Tokyo animation studios will out-source to Osaka. The only way to make this work is to make it a nationwide ban.

Even if THAT happens there's still Korean animation, which is incredibly similar to Japanese. So there's always going to be this sort of stuff being made somewhere.

I disagree. Sym-bionic Titan, Adventure Time, Powerpuff Girls, Avatar the Last Air-Bender, and Courage the Cowardly Dog are some of the best shows from any country ever.

this is definitely just going to cause outsourcing, there's no way all of japan will agree to ban one of its major industries because THINK OF THE CHILDREN

They have banned certain anime and manga in Tokyo, one of Japan's famous cities for the reason to "protect their young", AKA the rather infamous "THINK OF THE CHILDREN" excuse.

Wait, is this in all of Japan, or just Tokyo?

To be completely honest, I can't really say I have much of an issue with this. I mean, they're basically just trying to make it so that seven year-olds won't be able to turn on the TV and watch hours on end of borderline hentai. >_>
I know that the parents should be more involved, regulating the programs they allow their children to watch, but, to be honest, I'm not sure you can have a TV with cable in Tokyo these days without some shit getting past the radar.

Besides, I personally feel like anime - as well as modern media, as a whole - could seriously benefit from more stringent sexual censorship, considering that, without sex, they might actually have to put thought and effort into things, as opposed to just showing boobs and panty shots, all the time. >_>
No doubt people will find ways around this, and, to an extent, I'm glad for that.
...... Because that means I'll get to have my Eva Rebuild "Q".

But, even so, it would be nice to see a few more Ghibli/DeathNote/Blood+/"The Sky Crawlers" - esque things coming out of Japan that were genuinely awesome, more or less without sexual content. As opposed to Moe Harems. <_<
