Sprites Inc Contest #7: Christmas Comic Contest of Wonderment!

I apologise for the lateness of the contest, I kinda fell asleep and didn't wake up until literally five minutes ago.

Anyway, welcome to the seventh Sprites Inc Contest! This week we're celebrating Christmas! Sorry, Jews.

This week you'll have to make a Christmas oriented comic. Note I didn't say "Sprite comic," although a sprite comic is allowed. Here's the rules: 1) The comic must be of at least one panel, and up to a maximum of twelve. 2) The comic MUST be Christmas oriented, if not you'll receive a lower score. 3) Should you choose a sprite comic, you must tell me, in the entry, what the style of the sprites is.

That's it. Three simple rules for Twelve Days of Christmas. Now, onto the scoring. This week it's different, and I hope this is how I'll evaluate every comic contest.

Also, rather much like the Thanksgiving contest, this one is also two weeks long.

Theme: Theme is nearly the exact same thing as it is for the sprite contests. Worth 100 points.
Language: This parametre is focusing on proper use of the English language, or the language chosen by the contest/submitter. At this point in time it will focus on English, as I'm not completely in tune with foreign languages. Worth 100 points.
Effects: This parametre focuses on effects and text boxes. The placement and usage of such. Worth 100 points.
Misc: If I feel anything else should add to your score, then this is where you'll see it. This operates very similarly to the Misc section for sprite contests. This is worth up to 100 points, and does not detract from your score.

As you can see there's a total of 300, with 100 extra possible.

Remember that this contest is ONLY two weeks long. That means that come 11:59PM CST (GMT -6) on the Sunday after the next I'm closing all further entries and only the most recent entries, update-wise, will be accepted. Any entries submitted after the indicated time will not be accepted. This is a hard rule that will not change, no matter the sob story you PM me.

I mistakenly looked at the wrong calender. Chanukah is over, and as such is no longer allowed in the contest. Christmas comics only people.

I suppose Chanukah should be allowed. Lemme think on it and I'll get back to you some time later today.

Due to the apparent presence of people of the Jewish faith and persuasion, and the fact that Chanukah this year overlaps with Christmas, I am allowing Chanukah themed comics as entries. I am not, however, allowing Kwanza themed comics as entries.

Second 8, technically. Hanukkah is already over. Hanukkah usually does overlap, this is actually a case it doesnt unlike others.

Whoops. forgot about that. Used a premade chapter header that I have been using since before I changed my name. Going to go fix that.

Here are the results for the Christmas contest! Squee click to show Theme: 100, ah, Christmas comics, gotta love 'em. Language: 95, there were a few spots where it looked as if you could have made better use of things like commas and semicolons. Effects: 85, at first I was a little put off on the near non-use of effects, but then I took a deeper look and found "In-game" effects. Misc: 0, nothing stands out too much, sorry guy. Total: 280/300 NDraxian0 click to show Theme: 100, if I could give more for theme, I would. This just made me smile something fierce. Language: 95, some missing commas, mostly when Napalm is addressing his little girl. But overall a good job. Effects: 95, overall a very decent job on the effects. Some of the text boxes look like they could do with some better TLC, but still an overall decent job. Misc: 10, Flo-Chi is just TOO cute! Total: 300/300 Vile click to show Theme: 100, it's Christmas-y, I'll give you that. Language: 95, for the most part you seem to have a very decent handle on language. The characters do seem to be missing several commas, but for the most part it's decent. Effects: 80, the text boxes are offputting, as many of them lack a tail to display who is talking, and some of them are missing borders. Misc: 20, a very different "style" for a comic, unique.
