Hey all,

I LOVE the MM, MMX, MMZ games. Those new MMZX games are okay, but I don't like how they have the open area-type instead of mission-style areas. Either way, I was looking for any other games (older, newer, anything works) that are similar to the MM, MMX, MMZ game mechanic. It can be for PC, PS/PS2, or any nintendo system. I don't have a xbox or 360.

Thanks!

I THINK this is in the wrong section, and am SURE you should look through the freeware topic.

Otherwise, I knew one, but can't remember right now. Might remember it and edit this post soon.

I would try the older Metroid games. Mega Man Network Transmission has a layout similar to the classic Mega Man, and Castlevania is always an option.

Castlevania and Metroid really have little to no resemblance to Mega Man. Not to say they aren't good, they just aren't "Mega Man" style.

The only Castlevania game that would fit anywhere within "like a Megaman game mechanic" would be Kid Dracula and that's just stretching the definition. Of course, it would help if we knew which game mechanics he was interested in, only because if it's just being able to choose a mission, that doesn't friggin' help.

I meant the general MM gameplay, so I would not include metroid or castlevania in the mix (though I love and have played most of them as well).

I guess I'm looking for a sidescrolling platformer shooter, preferably with bosses and some sort of upgrades?

I did find this: http://ares.x10studio.com/ The demo was fun, but it is only 5 stages, so I'm on the fence about buying it.

Also Metal Slug.

I have played the metal slug games, but that is a great example of what I meant.

I will look into the contra games. Thanks!

Feel free to list any others you guys can think of :D

The game has some replayability thanks to achievements, but it is pretty damn short, and fairly easy, (especially if you abuse the shop feature). I beat the main game in an afternoon. It's still pretty cool for an Indie title. Seems to be based off Megaman X8 more than anything else.

If you've got a dsi try Dark Void Zero on the dsiware service.
