Watching the movie made me want to play FF7 all over again.

Yeah, I thought it was really great. It just brought back so many memories of FF7, so I guess there was a bit of the nolstagia factor in that too. :P

Have gone off FF7 and my spoiling fucktard of a buddy gave away the ending.

Ie i'll give it a fair review as soon as i get it.

Moving to animation section:

Question - Has anyone watched the non-japanese release? I was wondering how well the voices were done.

The voices are quite good.

I'm looking forward to watching it for the graphics, though I'm really not expecting too much plotwise from Square anymore. Aside from FFIX, I haven't really been impressed with the plot in one of their games since the old SNES days (NOTE: believe it or not, I have yet to play Kingdom Hearts, so I can't comment on that).

So they've finally released this then? They sure did hype it enough and keep the fanboys and girls waiting for a long time. Personally, I'll probably not bother renting it, seeing as I couldn't give a toss for the Final Fantasy series. Mind you, it has to be better than Sprirts Within, as it's actually based on the games.

According to my friend the storyline "Would be crap if it werent FF", and the best parts were the useage of music from the game (FF7 that is), and the references and jokes to it. Otherwise he said it was crap. Basically.

Wasn't too bad, though I did get confused in it due to the fact I don't remember most of FF7, Seph's brothers almost ruined the whole movie :P

The good
- It LOOKS the bees fucking knees. The CGI is bloody marvelous
- The voices are good
- The soundtrack is GREAT.
- The Turks

The bad
- Boring fight scenes. Sod flying around and doing "cool" shit, it's boring.
- The entire film is nothing but fanboy wanking material.
- Once you've seen it, it's not worth seeing again, unless you're a virgin.
- ANGST

in the english dub, they (of course) edited it.. i dont really kno what, but they deleted some scenes... thats one of the many reasons i hate english dubs, blah blah..

of course the effects were awesome.

Spoiler alert:

They aren't Sephiroth's brothers.

They're all pretty much his will split in to three entities. They aren't flesh and blood, as apparent by the way they absorb the materia into their bodies.

When Sephiroth 'died' in FF7 and went in to the lifestream, he was still actively trying to prevent complete absorbation. Thus, the three 'spirits' were born out of the corrupted lifestream. They're Sephiroth's will separated in to three entities.

Geostigma is pretty much the body's reaction to the Jenova cells within it.
The 'cure' for it is the lifestream's will to make the Jenova cells die. The pool in the church was just lifestream and water.

The three brothers are trying to find their 'mother' (Jenova) through most of the movie, but apparently they're reluctant to do so because once enough of Jenova's cells enter their form, Sephiroth would be able to manifest himself out of the person who absorbs them.

Also, when the three spirits 'die', they fade in to green lifestream, instead of the corrupted black lifestream. :P

After Sephiroth is defeated, anyone who has Geostigma can pretty much just go to the pool in the church, and be cured of it.

I love how that is barely explained in the movie.

Encyclopedia Dramatica's "review" of it is great.
"it explains dick throughout, explains nothing of what the hell happened in the previous game, and the badguys are three angsty emo's who were created for the sole purpose of badly written slash yaoi."

I thought the movie was ok, I was impressed a little but I didn't really see a strong connection between the game and the movie, I think it should of pertained to the game a little more, too much focus on the emo kids.

I ripped some movie for you kiddies on Youtube and THEY ARE IN ENGLISH! Feel free to leave comments, and these don't contain spoilers:

Thank you for reminding me why I think the final fight in Final Fantasy AC is one of the worst I've seen XD what the heck is it with moves that go as fast as someone blinks in animes? and the flying is just, not needed IMO of course.

The voices of the emo were bad, everyone else was good (or of those you showed) Sephiroth's was just okay.

Hmmm and I guess this bump can be okay.

Ugh. Looks like a FMV from one of the games. The soundtrack sounds lame, as does the dubbing. The animation is SO motion captured, too. I don't think I'll be bothering with this one. Sorry, but CGI rarely impresses me.

The soundtrack sounds lame
Half of it is brilliant, the other half is dull as fuck.

What I heard in those clips didn't fit in at all. Gutair wanking at it's naffest.

I've heard worse.
The psuedo techno/industrial tracks on Advent Children are great.

Although- Attention. Regarding the track "Materia". Gary Numan wants his sound back, you tossers!

Protoboy

The "Materia" track is crazy as hell, at first it doesn't even sound like it has a tune to it, it's pretty heavy, to say the least.

GG Hendrix

It's my fave song off the soundtrack, but it just sounds like the best song Gary Numan never did!

(Obviously in regards to his industrial stuff, and not his pop era) (both of which RULE)

Protoboy

I have to check into Gary Numan, he sounds pretty interesting. I thought that the Materia soundtrack was like... New. And new is good, gentlemen.

GG Hendrix

Unless you like electronic pop (his old stuff) or industrial (his new stuff) I doubt you'd like him :p

His remix album "Hybrid" is GREAT though.
