Hello guys, this is my thread for posting PD sprites of mine.
To start us off, here's an 8-bit Bass sheet based off the 32-bit sprites:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/rmaf_forte_sneak_peek.png
A new Proto Man sprite (Based on the MM3 ending sprites):
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/newblues.gif
Updated sprites of Fire Man and Cut Man:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/cut_man_update.pnghttp://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/fire_man_update.png
A sprite of Motor Man (The original artwork for Motor Man can be seen here (http://g0069.deviantart.com/art/Dwn-No-95-Motor-Man-111530126):
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/motor_man_sprite.png
And to finish off, a new Burner Man sprite:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/new_burner_man.png
I'll add more stuff later.
But for now, enjoy~
P.S. Feel free to give criticism!

Isn't Bass Way too large?
Also, fireman or woman?

And finally, No offense, but I liked the old burnerman better.
Otherwise, pretty good job.

Yes, and the attacks from Magic Card, Spread Drill, Remote Mine, and Wave Burner have colors that aren't represented on his body.

Yes, some people have said Bass is a little on the large size, I think Bass is taller than Mega Man, so that's the scale I worked from.
For Fire Man; I worked around his original armour, and it has this little dent in the bottom, so I shaped it that way.
And for Burner Man, everyone's allowed an opinion so I respect your views, I do think the old one is a little better, it looks more like Burner Man.
Yes, and the attacks from Magic Card, Spread Drill, Remote Mine, and Wave Burner have colors that aren't represented on his body.
May I point you to this:
based off the 32-bit sprites
I based the Bass sprites off his 32-bit counterpart, so they'd be accurate to those and not others, plus, if I were to down-pallete them (If that's even a word), the quality of the weapons would be lost, feel free to edit them to your own needs though.
Now some new stuff:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/new_air_man_sprites.png
It's sprites of Air Man for a little project I've started making the sprites for, it contains pieces edited from:
Strike Man (Mega Man 10)
Tornado Man (Mega Man 9)
And Air Man's attacks from Rockman Battle & Fighters
I'm not pleased at how a couple of sprites came out, so when I get the time, I'll be remaking them.
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/new_quick_man_sprites.png
These are sprites of Quick Man, for the same project, I edited these clearly from his sprites from Rockman Battle & Fighters, although some are customized.

*EDIT*
I updated the Proto Man sprite:

Feel free to give criticism

He's twice as large as Rock Man, a bit excessive don't you think?

The point is they aren't 8-bit if you keep them as is, they're very low quality 16-bit.

Airman, I mostly feal that the yellow on his legs is too thin. Try thickening his lower legs a pixel or two.

Zexion-teh-wolf

I've updated the Air Man sprites, the legs are now a little thicker. (The update can be seen above in the original post)
After doing much research, I now find that I was inaccurate about the amount of colours on Forte's weapons, I shall begin soon reducing and changing the colours of the weapons and Forte himself. I found out that the pallete for weapons is the same for 1-ups, E-Tanks and the character itself, so yeah, a BIG fail on my behalf ^^'.
Now for some new stuff:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/1-up_tiles.png
This is just me splitting stuff in 8x8 tiles, e.g CapCom's Mega Man and Bass sprites & 1-Ups. The bottom 3 sprites are my Forte split into 4x4 8x8 tiles (3 of which are empty) then 2 of my own custom 1-ups split into 8x8 tiles, I like the second most because it's more equal.
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/new_crystal_man_sprites.png
Here's a sheet of updated Crystal Man sprites, with a few customs.
I edited these with Mega Man's Palette and added a few custom sprites of my own. I made these as a little password boss for my Mega Man fangame (Read about it here (http://zexion-teh-wolf.deviantart.com/journal/34527653/) in one of my DeviantArt journals).
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/search_man_8-bit.png
And to finish off, an 8-bit sprite of Search Man.
Layer 1 = Transparency, Black, Grey, White
Layer 2 = Transparency, Black, Light Green, Dark Green
Layer 3 = Transparency, Black, Light Brown, Dark Brown
That's it for now.
Feel free to give Constructive Criticism

These have more colors than 16 bit, lEt alone 8 bit.

Zexion-teh-wolf
27-10-10, 22:33
Explain please.
Crystal Man uses Mega Man's exact same palette, so he's within colour limit, even for a player sprite
And Search Man is a Boss sprite and can utilize up to 3 palettes with 4 colours, 2 of which are Transparency and Black, this limits the colours to 6 colours, Search Man uses exactly 6 so I fail to see how these are not 8-bit.

Ahh...good to see you Zexion...

Still Awesome as Ever with the Sprites

Black is a color and whilst boss sprites have 3 palletes
They dont utilise them like nearly ever unless they're titanic and really need it. Yours looks like wily-wars and has EXACTLY enough colors to be 16 bit. 7+Trans.

As to fix the excess of colors, be more creative with the ones you already have; instead of using light green as a highlight to green, use the white or the grey; same for the brown. Half of spriting in 8-bit is getting a decent pallete with no unecessary colors.

Also, yeah, black is a color too. It usually doesn't count on the palletes of many 8-bit sprites because it is the transperency, but that's not the case for Megaman sprites.

Thanks for the criticism guys! Now I know what to fix and how to fix it, I'll get to fixing it as soon as I can.
But for now, enjoy a Chill Man Pixelart I made for my Chill Man Mod of Rockman 7FC
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/chill_man_pixelart.png
*EDIT*
Doing a little research, I found that Plant Man uses exactly the same amount of colours as my Search Man:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/search-plant_palettes.png
So I think that my Search Man sprite is perfectly within limits seeing as Plant Man was coloured within the limitations of a REAL NES console in the 1990's.
Also, here's a Wood Man sprite based on his 32-bit reincarnation from Mega Man 8:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/wood_man_mm8_8-bit.png
Seeing as he looks rather large, I'll just say here that he's the same size as Search man, even the eyes line up.
*EDIT #2*
Here's a WIP of an 8-Bit Burner Man sprite I'm currently working on:

Feel free to give constructive criticism!

ERROR
Plantman uses layers, that not the color limit of the NES.

However you did a nice job with the Pixel art , also Burnerman shoulders are too big.

Lern

No they're not, thats his original size.

ERROR 2;
Plantman uses lots of colors, you use three, but shade them. Also, just because a multi-layered 8-Bit can reach 9 colors doesn't mean it doesn't exceed 16-bit.

That's what I meant, layers, not palettes.
Thanks for the comments guys.
I have some more stuff to show:
Finished the Bass pixelart:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/rockman_and_forte_pixelart.png
I've reduced and updated the colours on Bass' weapons;
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/rmaf_forte_stan_weap.png
I think the Spread Drill came out okay, though weapons like the Remote Mine will be redone soon, I’ll also fix some of the frames for the Tengu Blade.
Another Bass pixelart done in less than 50 minutes:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/rockman_and_forte_pixelart_ii.png
Another pixelart...this one...uhhh...didn't come out too well...
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/pump_man_pixelart.png
I personally don't like how this came out, the colours look somewhat odd when displayed in such a large space. I had to modify his pump cannon because it I kept it at the angle it was originally at, I would not have been able to keep the solid line style of NES pixelart.
Here's a new Bass sprite I whipped up, a little test to see if I could make a decent Bass that was roughly the same height as 8-bit Mega Man:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/new_bass_sprite-ii.png
Not entirely happy with how the right arm came out though...
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/rmafwaveburnblock.png
Here's the Wave Burner block(s) that appear in a few stages in Mega Man and Bass, in 8-bit style.
And finally:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/newbluesshield.gif
My new Proto Man sprite with his shield.
Feel free to give C+C (?)

Hey, I appreciate your first post here being in my own thread, but please refrain from posting random comments in threads that don't need them.
Not much to show this post:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/new_evil_mega_man.gif
Just a basic Mega Man? sprite, I edited it from my Proto Man because I'm lazy.
And some 8-Bit shop icons from Mega Man and Bass:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/rmafshopicons.png
Nothing special.
Feel free to give C+C

I really like megaman?. He's probably the first megaman? I've seen which isn't a poor edit of megaman. You actually put effort into megaman?

Thanks! I thought I would be criticised for recolouring/editing my own previous work, but in a sense it isn't as bad as recolouring/editing stuff that isn't yours :P
A lot of stuff to submit tonight tonight:
8-bit CD's from Mega Man and Bass, seeing as they're like screws, I gave them Bass and Mega Man's palletes to fit with the style of NES limitations and such:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/rmafcd8-bit.png
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/rmafcd8-bitforte.png
The black lines are there to signify where the frame ends and next begins and so-on.
The next is probably my most accurate Bass sprite to date:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/rockman_size_forte_rmaf.png
When measured from head-height, he is the exact same height as Mega Man, who in turn is the same size are Proto Man, it's kind of accurate to the pose Bass takes in Mega Man and Bass, a few details have been altered due to space limitations.
Next up is a Zero Pixelart I whipped up a while ago:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/zero_pixelart_1.png
I resized the pixelart and made this:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/mega_man_z_title_screen.png
MEGA MAN Z : THE SECRET OF Z COMING TO WIIWARE, XBLA AND PSN IN SUMMER 2024
Just kidding. This is fake. Get over it.
If I ever did aqquire the skills to make a fangame, this would probably be one, I just love Zero's character so much, his design is like that of Bass, it just appeals to me for unknown reasons.
Here's an image of all of the RM&F robot masters in 8-bit, with their respected creators below:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/mega_man_and_bass_8-bit.png
This is a sheet of Mercury, remade in 8-bit style.
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/8-bit_mercury_sheet.png
Instead of falling into the common trap, I didn't just recolour all the sprites, I tried to rework all of the sprites accurate to his official drawing. His first sprite reminds me of Quick Man and Tornado Man.
Time for some Mega Man 8!
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/mm8_blues.png
"You're not going anywhere! King!"
Just a little sprite of Blues from MM8/MM&B, feel free to crit. this all you want, I'm not using it for anything anyway :p
Next up is a mock-up of a weapon get screen for my fangame "Mega Man: Injustice!" (Shortened to MMI):
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/mega_man_i_get_weapon_mock.png
I based the background off various Wily Wars backgrounds, the foreground piece is based off Mega Man 10 and the pixelart of Mega Man is based of his weapon artwork for the Water Shield. The Wolf Claw is the weapon of my robot master "Wolf Man"
Next is another mock-up screen, but this time of a Player Select:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/player_select_mock.png
Just a few things to point out:
#1. Yes, that is hair emerging from Mega Man's Helmet
#2. Yes, Mega Man will slide and charge
#3. Yes, Proto Man will be able to shield-dash
and #4. Yes, Bass will double jump.
I personally don't like how I made this, the placement of things in this is terrible, the text looks misalligned and the borders look a bit off.
I finally finished the sheet for Forte’s RM&F weapons:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/metal-man-x/Mega-Man/new_rmaf_forte_sheet.png
This is way better than my old one, Forte is properlly sized and the weapons now use a pallete that Forte himself uses. There are also more frames to weapons like Ice Wall, Copy Vision and Tengu Blade.
HOLY THUNDER WOOL BAT MAN:
