Well Here I go again with another bloody project, I remembered back in the day There was a team who was remaking Rockman X1-3 in 32 bit....Well im assuming those projects got canned. Now Im going to attempt to revive them, I already made the Game engine (c++) and now Im re-spriting EVERYTHING including X and Zero. I want to re-make them because Im sick of seeing them in 16bit and I wanted to throw in some extra stories (Like the Manga versions) and missions. I started on X's new pose, 95% scratch so far, I don't think I'll keep this one as X, this is just a prototype, please give C+C and what should I fix? And if you would like to help on this project PM me please.

Why not just use the 32-bits?

Riku Akiyama
17-07-06, 03:18
Of X and Zero? Because, that'd be too easy, but since you brought it up, Lets see how the rest of the thread turns out...

Kairos

I love yor sig, can't wait to see more of the sprites.

Doogles
17-07-06, 03:38
Your sig is so awesome! It's so well animated, it's just awesome!

Riku Akiyama
17-07-06, 03:51
Well so far I'd say the other like the new style better....

Blackbeltdude
17-07-06, 04:24
Wow, the sig you've got is really impressive. Why don't you post those sprites? :P

And what about this converting MMX1-3 into "32-bits" stuff? Really, a 32 bit label for anything isn't too approperate though... unless you want each sprite to have over 256 colors. :P Is this a new style, or are you going for the PSX style?

And 95% scratch? He doesn't look like 95% done, so what are you using as a base? It looks pretty much completely scratch.

This looks really interesting, and I'd like to know more about the project and the sprites please. :P

Riku Akiyama
17-07-06, 04:42
Because besides the first base sprite that I made of that style in my sig, Those are the only ones I have, That animation took me at least 3 weeks with sprting and to time everything. Like I said, I wanted to see how this thread progresses, then i'd choose the correct style. So I am going to use the style in my sig and the first sprite in this thread. And what I mean by 32bit is, yes, the PSX color count, but try to emulate this style, This is more 16/32bit because of the black outline around the sprites. And its 95% scratch because I took the hand from Rockman X from X1, his first standing frame, so I just edited the hand and made it bigger.

Wow, fantastic stuff! I love the sig, it's brilliant, and really like the look of the sprites - i look forward to more!

Grid Man

I love that style. The sig is amazing, and what you have done of the standing pose is great. The game itself sounds pretty cool, as well.

Riku Akiyama
17-07-06, 22:09
Well I guess Im using this style ^_^;; I don't mind, its just a little harder to make, but worth it in the long run, so if you wanna help PM me

Rakia
17-07-06, 22:15
I would, but
1) I'm just learning some styles so another would be confusing,
and 2) I've already got some things to do, but I probably will help eventually.

Enigma
17-07-06, 22:23
....looks way too hard, and I'm just a newbie, the sig made me laugh, I was thinking "I wonder if something like that could really happen"

Riku Akiyama
17-07-06, 23:28
heh, The sig was a joke between my Roomate and myself a while ago, Back when X3 came out. We were Discussing all of the ride armors that you get in the game..."Isn't it amazing how he just KNOWS how to pilot ALL 4 of them?"...him:"I bet he has flaws also...Just imagine this...etc."

Riku Akiyama
18-07-06, 00:07
sorry about the Double-post, but its for an update....kinda

Well Here is VAVA (Vile) in the same style, I just used Blackbeltdude's PD Vava sprites and edited it, tell me if you like the style now or not

garethfurbank
18-07-06, 00:11
It's like 32bit meets 16bit, and I like it, it looks really cool!

Fluttershy
18-07-06, 00:21
It gives it a Megman powered up meets 32 bit style. I like it!

Cutman EXE
18-07-06, 00:27
Um... wasn't X3 Vava blue?

Fluttershy
18-07-06, 00:31
yes but he is doing X1 through 3.

Dude/Man
18-07-06, 00:49
vava has a cartoonish feel to him....i like it:g-neko:

Riku Akiyama
18-07-06, 01:04
good, then we all agree on this particular Style? And I think we should come up with a name for it

Fluttershy
18-07-06, 01:05
ChiX=Chibi X. 'Cause I think it looks a little Chibi, which is cool.

Dude/Man
18-07-06, 01:29
or toon-bit?

Riku Akiyama
18-07-06, 01:43
hmmm Toon-bit sounds decent, but it reminds me too much of LoZ- Wind Waker....I dunno, how about Ani-bit (Anime-bit)

Fluttershy
18-07-06, 01:44
Ani-bit is great, I'd go with that.

Riku Akiyama
18-07-06, 01:58
Ok so its settled! Ani-bit it is! *Continues working VAVA sheet*

Blackbeltdude
18-07-06, 02:27
I'm actually going to make more poses for that Vile eventually, lucky you huh? :P

I don't know if giving a MMX4 sprite a black outline means it deserves to be called it's own style though...

See, your X has a diffrent face, shading, and proportions from the MMX4 one. (The colors are diffrent too, but they don't really mark a change in sprite style.) Because of the design diffrences, your X deserves to be called a diffrent style.

Now when I made my Vile conversion, I was aiming for that MMX PSX style, and since all you really did was just give him a black outline, he's still pretty much that style.

You're very welcome to use the sprites as a base of course, but you should do more editing. Like the hands could be larger and rounder, and you might as redo the shading completly. (Just fill in all the colors with one shade, and redo it.) You might wanna change more than just the white shades too.

But, if you want to keep it as is, it's up to you. I guess it could still work.

Riku, do read the facts below:

8-bit: computer dot style
16-bit: cartoonish style
24-bit: Semi-Anime Style
32-bit: Anime Style

Thank you for your time.

Riku Akiyama
18-07-06, 03:08
Well like i said, i am just experimenting with things right now, here's a pre, and I did change the shading on the sprites, and Inudemon, those are not facts, those would be a matter of opinion. SO your saying that Magic night Rayearth, that was for the super famicom, and is 16bit, isn't Anime style? ITS A GAME BASED OFF OF AN ANIME!

Steveman

Riku, do read the facts below:

8-bit: computer dot style
16-bit: cartoonish style
24-bit: Semi-Anime Style
32-bit: Anime Style

Thank you for your time.

Bollacks, you obviously have no idea what you are saying.
And THERE IS NO 24 BIT >,<

There is no designated style for any console/bittage, but speaking strictly for the Megaman games all of tham are a sort of Anime style constrained to the hardware limits of the consoles they were on, and that Inafune the lead artist and character creator for the Megaman license was an Anime Artist.

As for the Viva sprites, it looks like you outlined BBD's PD Vava.

Fluttershy
18-07-06, 04:43
Actually there is 24 bit it is the Power Fighters/Battles games I believe.

Riku Akiyama
18-07-06, 04:47
Does anyone even bother looking at the shading difference? Or does everyone just assume that there is "just a black outline"

garethfurbank
18-07-06, 12:10
No, i noticed the difference, and it looks good. This style kicks ass, I like it, lots.

Riku Akiyama
18-07-06, 12:50
Thank you, at least someone notices, the resonwhy Im using other bases before I move on to scratch is because I want a feel for the current style of things currently

Enigma
18-07-06, 14:05
...there is 24-bit, but that's not the topic, so kill it...I was wrong and I accept that...now drop it...before Riku starts getting mad about all this spawn on his board.

Riku, I gotta say...how do you plan on making all...thousands of things from X1-3 into 32? if my calculations are right...all will be finished...by next year around May or April.

Riku Akiyama
18-07-06, 15:23
Perhaps, or perhaps longer than that If I do all of this alone, If I have a team willing and able to emulate the style, that'd be great. Ripped BG's frpm X4-X6 would be helpful, plus if there are remastered tracks like X3 for PSX and saturn for X1-X2 (I heard there were, I just never heard them)

garethfurbank
18-07-06, 15:49
I'd offer to help, but I'm a bit crap really... I'm sure people will pick up on the style and offer to help though.

For remastered tracks, I quickly checked AF, and I don't see any there. Good luck on your journey of converting!

Enigma
19-07-06, 15:05
hmm...I wonder, if BGHQ would help, but I'm sure you've already been there. I would also like to help, but I'm the crappiest guy ever to try to make conversions...or a game for that matter.

Riku Akiyama
19-07-06, 15:18
hmmmm Can you at least try? I mean just try to convert the first few Enemys from the Intro Stage of X1 and let me see how you do.

Enigma
19-07-06, 15:22
that's the thing, I don't know how to convert really...and when I tried once it came out all sucky.

Riku Akiyama
19-07-06, 15:23
Ah well, If you know anyone interested in the project, let me know

Rakia
19-07-06, 15:31
I PMed you 'bout it.

Riku Akiyama
19-07-06, 17:06
Well I hope this helps some, also take not on the Shading method on VAVA, look at it closely

Enigma
20-07-06, 00:14
the metool looks weird...but Vile looks cool.

Riku Akiyama
20-07-06, 22:25
Thats because The Metool is made by Rakia, unlike some people, he is actually trying the style

Riku Akiyama
21-07-06, 05:38
Well here is the conversion of X

kingofanime
21-07-06, 05:48
Hm.. I could try a conversion if ya want. I'll pick a random enemy from X1 and try it, tell me if it's satisfactory...

Riku Akiyama
21-07-06, 06:11
ok, so how does X look?

Enigma
21-07-06, 14:39
wow...that is awesome.

Dude/Man
21-07-06, 15:51
ani-bit was a good idea.

HZ
21-07-06, 18:03
oooh me likey i wana try (is it ok if i post it here when im done?)

Riku Akiyama
22-07-06, 00:43
Its ok, you can post them here, whether I accept them or not is up to the quality of the sprite(s).

HZ
22-07-06, 01:35
AAAAHHHH!!!ONE11! I DONT GET IT!
HOW DO YOU DO THAT!!??!1/!?

For refrence or something
Of course yours has more colour.

Slightly off topic: Why would there be a 24-bit? They go up by 2x, 8*2=16, 16*2=32 32*2=64 etc...

Riku Akiyama
22-07-06, 12:46
hmmm Kinda looks like it...I can see where they look the same with the black outline..

Riku Akiyama
22-07-06, 14:22
Well heres the Animation of the New X breathing (don't mind the slowness, Animation Shop 3 was being a bitch today) you may speed it up if you'd like
