Yeah, I'm just as confused as you are, but the DS game Mario Basketball: 3-on-3 features some rather unexpected characters:

Black mage? Moogle? CACTUAR?

Did you hear that just now? It's the screams of fanboys/girls everywhere.
Sure does seem ike an odd place to throw them in, though. Wouldn't of made more sense for them to cameo in a Mario&Luigi Superstar Saga game, or something?

Any other videogame character couldn't get away with it, they could release 'Mario: Feed the Elderly' even!

Doesn't "New Super Mario Bros" count? Hell, Mario's probably one of the rare characters in video game land that's games are rarely tripe, even now. Especially when compared to what they oput out for Sonic, Ninty have done a great job at keeping Mario fresh all these years without changing things much style wise.

No, Mario playing basketball doesn't make a lotof sense, but at least this game looks alright. Hell, the grapics are superb, and the gameplay might just work.

Yeah, Mario games are usually fantastic to play (If the new one doesn't launch with the Wii, I will destroy Poland). And New Super Mario Bros is smegging lovely.

I bet Mario doesn't jump as high as Mike.
And maybe its just be... BUT WHAT DID THEY DO TO THE WHITE MAGE? (That was in anger BTW)

Yeah, I saw this a few days ago. Super Smash Bros fans think that this could lead to these (or some of these) characters making it into SSBB.

I am getting this game though. I just hope you can Nuke players over WiFi with Black Mage.

Also, can I help destroy Poland if the new Mario doesn't come out at launch? I'll bring my army of Penguin Marines.
