So, it costs $100-$200. My question is: why?

Did it go out of production quicky? I would look it up, but not many people have the history of the game, and Wikipedia is notorius for misinformation...

Otherwise, does anyone have it? One of my friends bought a copy early on, and he was thinking of lending it to me. Should I give it a shot?

Yes! VERY much so. And yes, there is a reason it costs so much, it's really old(as in pre Win XP old) and it's supposed to be a really good game. Not to mention nowadays it's getting more hype because of it's content material. Not to mention they're finally making a sequel to the game so alot of people who never got to play the first one want to get their hands on it, thus driving up the price.

Looks like I should also keep an eye out for the sequel. I heard that that the game is a bit linear in plot, and it has a horror genere. Is this true? Or do today's games take the teeth from this beastly genere?

I also saw the gameplay on youtube. There's some creepy looking stages, and I also saw the cheshire cat get impailed 0.0

Oh no, it is VERY dark and creepy in nature(fitting the Horror Genre). In a way it's very psycological like the Silent Hill games were. Where everything in the game represents something deeper with the main char. And yes, it is actually pretty damn linear in plot. But you got to remember back then games didn't have much choices in what can happen.

not all games are like TES: Oblivion (love that game too)
