We're all gamers here. We've all owned more then one console in our lives, some of us possibly even having downloaded emulators of older consoles. We've all more then likely played more then our share of games in our time.
That being said, I highly doubt anyone who'll agree with the above statement can honestly say "If there's a game I don't like, I haven't played and liked it yet."
We've all played games we didn't like.
But that's not quite what this thread is for.
What I want to know is, who here has played a game that they probably recognized as nothing entirely bad or wrong, from a design perspective, but just plain couldn't get in to?
I wanna hear about games that had good bits that drowned in a sea of vomit.
Spoiler'd for rambling.
For me, the game to fit that description would be The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for Nintendo DS. Now don't get me wrong, I approve of the super deformed art style first seen in The Wind Waker, I am in love with the idea of Hyrule's technology advancing over time, and I don't mind the absence of the Triforce or Ganondorf.
What I don't approve of is the bullshit touch screen controls, the padding dungeons after the main four, the shoe-horning of the titular princess into the out of character role of spunky side-kick, or the out of place little asides the game takes to drop completely un-subtle hints to the romance between said princess and Link.
To summarize, Spirit Tracks rubs me the wrong way because it gives in to what's expected of it, as opposed to what would actually be good.
