I suppose it's time I post my sprite comic. I've made the first five pages of the first chapter of Digital Rebirth, a series that takes place immediately after the ending of MMZ3. It has a serious theme running through it, but stays true to Mega Man.

Also, I will be needing help with spriting. I can handle most characters myself, but there are just too many on the roster for me to sprite. While I have nothing against accepting custom characters, I have a far greater need for canon characters from the X series. Check out the Custom Sprites Request thread for a list. PM me if you would like to discuss this.
Note that I know about the Physis picture of X and his Guardians watching Ragnarok. There's an 8 month gap between Zero 3 and 4; I can cover it.
BTW: In case you can't figure it out, you can click the Next button on the bottom or top right to scroll through the comics...
i like it so far. except for the re-sized fairy mugs and this idea is very original too.

Yeah, too bad about that style mixing in the second comic.
Eh, don't give me a lecture on "style mixing." Those characters are properly sized and shaded; the only thing that gives them away is the fact that you already know what they're from. I feel that the usage of more characters makes the comic more interesting than just a load of Resistance soldiers, but I'm not about to go through and resprite every single character that may end up in the series. And if a little style mixing occurs, what of it?
Sorry about the rant, and I apologize if I may have offended you. But honestly, if all the characters are the same bittage and size, then why should their style of boots matter?
EDIT: Oh, and I'm gonna work on the Elf mugs.

Hyerm... Well, I like the basic idea. I like the spikes, shoulder pads, and the sort. However, Sigma's always been about intimidation, so I'm not really a fan of the color scheme. Plus Sigma's always been nearly twice as tall as X; this is only a few inches higher.
This is what I was originally gonna use. (http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b310/GridMan569/sigma_mmz2.gif) It's an obvious resize and recolor of our old buddy's X5 form, with a few edits to smooth out errors from the resizing. I don't really mind the style mixing as much as some, so long as the character isn't completely out of place. So, here's what I would like you to do, if you wouldn't mind pal. I would like for you to edit my old sheet into the design you have already made. Because then Sigma would still look official, but have the awesome design that you have made.

Ha, and I threw that visor on his face because I could not for the life of me get his eyes right. You want me to put the visor on those too or just keep his head how it is?
Well, you can keep the same color scheme as you want. Just don't let it be too bright, if ya know what I mean. And Siggy's never worn a visor. I think he can do without.

Sure did. Actually, with the program I'm using, I just did a Hue Adjustment to change all the shades to green. Then I did a Tint Fill in bright green with a transparency of 95%, just to make solid grey areas look greenish. Prolly more information than you wanted. :rolleyes:

The weird duck thing is Professor Gaudille. He is in Command Missions.
Prof. Gaudile is a Duckbill Platypus, and yes, he's from Command Mission.
As for the X4 baddie, it's been over a hundred years since then. The Repliforce wasn't really that bad to begin with, I see no reason why some of their crew wouldn't side with the Resistance.

Gonna be a few days until I can update. First, I need to finish a batch of sprites for some necessary characters. Plus I want to update with a few pages when I do, rather than just one at a time.

I'll answer you via PM. I'd rather keep most of the upcoming characters out of the spotlight until their appearance in the comics.

Yeah, Gaudile has a weird design. But he's one of my favorite characters from the X series, for whatever reason. So, I want him to stick around.

I'm not sure if I like this page; it seems kinda random to me. But it tells the story, which is necessary, especially later on. I should be getting to the bit about Axl very soon. Let me know what you think.

Heh, you're right about that. I think I just got carried away when I was originally doing his sheet. I'll get to work on that right after lunch.

No, no, it's more than possible. Cyber-space isn't just some afterlife created for Reploids. Cyber-space is what binds the universe together in the Mega Man world. There is no difference between a Reploid "soul" and a Human soul. Here, the following chunk is quoted directly from Zan Sidera on another forum. If you don't know Zan, he's one of the biggest Mega Man buffs out there, and I trust him completely.
-Cyber-Space and Cyber-Elfs.
Quoting RTRZ Telos:
“Cyber-Space is the world where all the phenomena that constitute the substance world exist in the form of a program. Cyber-Elf is the program life object which can interfere in the program of this Cyber-Space, and can operate all the phenomena in the substance world by rewriting a program (of Cyber-Space).”
To begin, we need to establish that there are infact 2 different realms of existence.
-Substance World
-Cyber-Space (Program World)
The substance world is the world one experiences on a daily basis, the normal world. Cyber-Space, is the world that lies underneath this substance world and controls all it’s processes. It is effectively the programming behind the universe. In Rockman Zero, the power of certain beings can remove the boundaries between the two worlds and manipulate them with frightening effects. Hence, when Omega returned, doors linking substance to program became a reality.
Additionally, one should note that Cyber-Space is also the realm where all data ends up. This is logical, as to guide the processes of the world, all of the world’s data is required. Because all data ends up here, one’s soul, regardless of wether one is human or Repliroid, also does. Hence, data can be found inside the Cyber-Space to use in DNA-Revival of Repliroids, and presumably, it’d also be feasible for humans sometime in the future. (Reference: Rockman DASH; restoration of the ancients)
The “program life object” mentioned in Telos is as a matter of fact, nothing more than a soul. From Telos, we can conclude that Cyber-Elfs are souls that learned the ability to rewrite certain aspects of Cyber-Space, but naturally, doing such requires large amounts of energy, hence a Cyber-Elf dying after use and returning to Cyber-Space untill it has regained it’s power, or they’re simply removed from existance. But since Cyber-Elfs with single uses are infinite in Cyber-Space, we can deduct that death merely restricts them to Cyber-Space instead of removing them fully from existence.
Generally, Cyber Elfs are artifically created by the people living in the substance world. But there are exceptions, certain Reploid souls have also learned to transcend the boundaries of Cyber-Space, 2 of which, Elpis and X, are especially stated as having become “Cyber-Elfs.” In the case of Phantom, this term was never used, but he’s clearly shown as being capable of similair feats.
Take note that a human ghost was in either Legends 1 or 2 (i forget). Not as a major character, but he's there. The only way to revive him would be if his data lived on through Cyberspace.
What you need to understand is that Cyberspace is not man-made; it's been there since the beginning of time.

Welp, I'll be quite honest and list the reasons.
First off, school's started back up, sucking away a lot of my time.
Secondly, I'm learning how to program with Game Maker.
Thirdly, a resource book has come out in Japan. From the sections that have been translated, it kinda screws over a major detail of not only my comics, but dozens of other comics out there. It seems that when Omega exploded in Z3, all of the Guardians were killed. Reason Zero didn't die there too was that the Mother Elf put a barrier around him during the explosion. I know all of that sounds like fanfic in itself, but you can't argue with Official Sourcebooks.
So, uh, yeah. I've decided that for now I'll join all the losers who never finish anything. But hey, I reckon once I get good enough with Game Maker I'll turn all my potential ideas for this series into games.

It's true, Sigma is indeed Style Mixed. I'll admit now, I'm a style mixer. If the character looks ok in a different environment, I'm not gonna bother making an entirely new sheet for him. I'll just endure all the comments about it, cause it just takes too long to do sprites that aren't entirely necessary. :P

Well, the truth is nobody really knows what Lumine really did to Axl at the end of X8. But, the game Command Mission comes, storyline-wise, after X8. So I can only assume that it didn't hurt Axl very much. *shrugs*
X9 is coming out somewhere in the next two years. Like come on. They have to end the X series soon.

I think that's what CM was meant to be. Cause it talks about how current reploids have no right to judge others and call them mavericks, and that only the historians have the right to decide wether or not they were mavericks

Right. The only reason that people mention that attack is because in Axl's ending, the camera zooms in on Axl's head, showing a crystal or something that Lumine planted in him. Also, Axl's super secret unlockable mode changes his color scheme to match Lumine's.
At any rate, I'm just going to pretty much ignore that bit in the comics. I'm not going to make up an effect from it, especially since Axl was perfectly normal in Command Mission.

Once you 'Super Siggyfy' it, if I add a few random spark effects in the comic, Sigma ought to look damaged. Besides, it seems more like Sigma's personality to stand up when he's hurt, rather than kneel. Thanks a ton.

Heh, yeah, Redips is the final boss from CM. He's a New Gen, and takes on the form of Spider. There's a lot of controversy surrounding his Spider form. Some say that the Spider that you get to play as was really Redips all along. Others say that you met the real Spider first, and that Redips killed him and took his form later on in the game. I personally prefer the latter, because I thought Spider was pretty cool.

This comic is overall very cool, but the layout is kind of boring. Use the zooming-effect more, it makes the comic more exciting and dynamic.
Also, using text to represent sound effects can work sometimes too. :)

Eh, the only reason I don't zoom in more often is because I like to have a clear view of the action. It just personally bugs me when I can't fit all of the characters in a single frame. *shrug* You're right though, I should use it more often. Actually, I was thinking maybe the zoomed-in should become more of the norm, with the zoomed-out used for when it's necessary to see the entire screen. Thoughts?
As for sound effects, well... that's something I'll experiment with in the upcoming chapters. I don't wanna just up and start adding sounds randomly in the middle of a battle, do I? :g-winky:

Eh, I'm fine with being pestered. It's what keeps me going in life. xD
Anyway, homework was a killer all week long, so this weekend has been pretty much just a "sit around and do nothing" weekend. Although I have rewritten this chapter's ending, and ironed out how Chapter 2 is gonna play out. I did a little bit of sprite work, too. I'll get back to actually writing comics tomorrow, and hopefully have a new page tomorrow night.

Well, I figured he's had over a century to wise-up a bit. That's pretty much gonna be my explanation for any slight personality changes. :P
Anyway, update coming soonish. I'm trying to make complete blueprints for the series, and I keep forgetting about some things I want to include, so I have to go back and try to work it in. It's not easy work, planning out all this stuff. But it's fun.

What's this? Update time? Well, uh, not really. But I did go fix a typo on Page 24 (http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b310/GridMan569/Digital%20Rebirth/Chapter%201_Xs%20Arrival/DR_01_24b.gif?t=1164670246). And I went back to Page 2 and switched Milan's line. I originally had him say "It's us Zero! The Resistance!", but at the time I apparantly forgot that they were part of Kyber Nova. Whoops. So yeah, I changed it.
On another note, Photobucket.com has apparently changed their layout a bit, so navigating the pages is gonna be annoying. Sorry, folks. If anyone knows a way around this new bit, let me know.
I honestly was gonna do a ton of comics over Thanksgiving break.... but a major fever that lasted the whole dang thing changed my mind. I'm better now, so I'm hoping that I can finish a comic tonight. Sorry I'm taking so long, folks.
On a lighter note, Darx has been giving me some awesome characters for future comics, so you can look forward to seeing that beginning in Chapter 2. Again, sorry for the delay.
