Okay, I'm playing as Richter, and I got stuck.

I'm in the Dark Academy painting, two rooms past the long room with a Vapula, where there's a wall with a bell on the other side of the wall. My main issue is that I can't get Richter to jump high enough to reach the ledge above where you enter the room, even jumping on the little girl (your partner character)'s shoulders doesn't help.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get past this part? It's the last painting I have to finish before facing Brauner.

Hmm. Richter? I never got past the middle, because hard mode is impossible for me(for rich). However, I believe there is an alternative way there. I'll look in a sec.

EDIT, okay, found the room. Now, the bell triggers a door, right? Can you shoryuken? Above the bell there's a small HOLE in the ceiling. Shoryuken until you find a window. Thats how.

Shoryuken?

What's the button combo?

Er. Jump and L, or R. You can just mash R or L in jump for it.

Also, my bad, "hippogryph". Shoryuken is still much awesomer.

I'll give it a shot, thanks.

I'm surprised you got that far without knowing Richy has the Hippogryph jump. Up+L or R while on the ground, otherwise just L or R. Whatever your "Special Ability" button is- The one that makes you backdash while on the ground.

Just like the Space Jump in Metroid, having it nearly 100% eclipses the need to use the normal leaps.

I'm even more surprised you managed to be stuck in PoR at all !
Just kidding, haha.

Ryu, it's very easy. >.>

Also, DO NOT TRY LEVEL 1 HARD MODE.

No, no, TRY IT! As OLD AXE ARMOR!!!

I did it. It was insidiously evil deliciously fun, and full of sweets~

Dude. It requires 202 hits for each phase- a total of 404 hits. And thats with Vamp killer perfected and the maximum damage from items and STR +60 from whatsherface. and vamp killer takes about 1.5 seconds for each hit. This should take 10 minutes to beat.

And with Old Axe Armor, you can make maybe one mistake before dying horribly, while attempting to inflict something on the order of thousands of hits total, with utterly terrible range. At least in Level 1 Hard Mode with Jon and Charlotte, you can equip the Ancient Armor and Miser Ring and still kick the everloving crap out of most anything.

Fresh Lv.1 Hard Mode is nasty, I'll admit, but Old Axe Armor doesn't get any benefits at all- No STR Spell, +30 STR (From beating Lv.1 Lock previously), nor even equipment. In most cases, (Stella being an exception, for one), it is just too dangerous and POINTLESS to grab any Life Max Ups for him, since he gets one-shot by most anything (even the goddamn BATS.)

I think the reason I never discovered that previously was because I never came across the ability as Johnathan/Charlotte.

What? That's odd, as far as I'm concerned you just find it on the ground on the way somewhere in the castle.
Also, you must've never played CV to not know you can do the hippo.

It IS, to be fair, totally missable with the pair. You need Owl Morph to get it, and you have to backtrack. Weird combination, just like finding Sanctuary.

Oh.
I didn't remember that.

Are you certain?
I'm pretty sure I didn't backtrack until I completed the game(Then again, I always went to 100% of the area, or as much as I could)

Yeah. It's in the first room of the pyramid. The first "official" room, anyway. It's up in the corner, opening's near where you come out from Astarte and above your head when you first come in. You need Owl Morph to fly up there to reach the opening. It's darn helpful but you don't actually *need* it (since you DO have Owl Morph.)
