Game Name: The Legend of Zelda: Shadow of the Triforce
Program Used to Make it: Dream Maker (BYOND)

I'm making a Zelda fangame called Zelda: Shadow of the Triforce. I've been working on the engine for the game and released the engine in a small downloadable demo. If you've played BYOND games before, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Most people tend to shun BYOND games because of the blatent lack of quality. BYOND really has much more potential than most think.

This demo I released (and am still updating consistantly) replicates the gameboy Zelda games. It's called Link's Awakening Pixel Movement because pixel movement is what we BYONDers use to refer to movement which breaks away from the default 32x32 tile movement used in BYOND. It's not hard to do, but people just tend not to do it. I'm making a comittment to use it as much as possible from now on in order to provide quality games to BYOND and even those in other communities such as you guys here at Sprites INC.

The engine shows off gameboy Zelda-like collision with different instances of collision such as pushing on dense objects, entering doors or stairs, and also scrolling between screens.

It features a short little dungeon which is still growing in size!

There's a cute little town to explore and chop bushes in. The town is also constantly changing! Next update will include townspeople to talk to. You can also slash bushes using the F button!

There's also a Forest of DOOM!

The engine also features the option of lowering the frames per second by using the FPS tab in the top menu. The FPS can range from 100 to 50, 100 being the default. This could prevent the game from crashing if it does crash for you, but that shouldn't be the case. I've only had one person come to me and tell me that it's crashed. I assume it was his computer.

You can download the game here (http://www.byond.com/games/Fugsnarf/ZeldaLinksAwakeningPixelMovement), and you can download the latest version of BYOND here (http://www.byond.com/download/build/460.1052_byond.exe). Enjoy!

I'll continue to update you guys on the progress. Hopefully there's some interest! I'll be posting about the storyline later. The demo up there is nothing more than a demo. The game will look a lot different.

It's good. Really good.

My only problem is that there are a lot of instances where my keys would not respond.

That's strange. Mind elaborating a little?

It's a bit hard to explain. Sometimes I'd have to press a key more than once to start moving, as if the key just locks up. So far, only one key locks at a time.

It's probably just me, I wouldn't worry about it too much unless someone else gets it.

Ah, I see. That's a problem on my part. I'm going about fixing it.

Sorry for the double post. I edited the first post to include some extra information as well as some screenshots to make it a bit more appealing.

I fixed the button problems mentioned earlier by both GameDragon and people at BYOND. The buttons should respond normally now, and button mashing shouldn't mess with the movement anymore.

Come and check it out! (http://www.byond.com/games/Fugsnarf/ZeldaLinksAwakeningPixelMovement?invite=Fugsnarf)
