So yeah, I'm joining in on the bandwagon too. I've been working on this thing for a few months now, but I decided to wait until I had something that was actually tolerable. So far, things are looking up, and I may be finished with it sooner than I originally thought. There's still quite a few problems and a couple of bugs here and there, but otherwise I think it's decent. Well, here's something to look at then. For those wondering, this was made in Multimedia Fusion 2.

And a small video:

(Keep in mind, that the recorder I used forced the video to 15 fps. The actual engine plays much smoother than what the video shows.)

Couple of things already completed:
+ Dashing
+ Wall Jumping
+ Ladders
+ Water Gravity
+ Moving Platforms
+ Camera Scrolling
+ Enemies (Not in the video though)
+ Health and Energy Pickups
+ Heart Tanks
+ Sub Tanks
+ Weapon System (albeit, no actual weapons. But the system is already there to add in your own weapons.)

Things I plan to add soon:
- Dialogue
- Armor Upgrade
- Ride Armor
- Ride Chaser

Not much else to say, I guess. Better information in YouTube description. Feel open to post any criticism or suggestions you have.

Not bad for the start. I hope your project will be fabulous as JKB´s project.
Just keep it up dude.
By the way, can X jump on the water surfaces like in X2 and X3?

At the moment, he can't.

At first, I going to keep the water strictly X1 style, but it would make more sense to add in the water jumping.

You could always make it a variable, that'll allow water jumping when it's true, and disallows it when it's false.

Also, really nice engine. It looks pretty good. Are you making this as an open-source kind of engine, or one you will use to make a game yourself?

Thanks, though I already know how I'm gonna add it in, I just felt it was unnecessary at the time.

Though I'd like to make a full game, I doubt I could. The engine will be open-source however, when it is finished.

This trick is also in X2. I've also implemented it into my engine already, by the way.

As I said in the video, excellent job on the physics! Loved the weapons, especially desert hunter and the met-shield.
