How many colours does the MMBN sprites usually have in their pallate(sp)?

Yeah... I should have already asked that before I did my sprites. But I need to know where I can finish Sigma.

I believe it was 16, 1 being a transparent one.

That is correct it is always half the bittage +1 transparent.

Actually, the Megaman 7 sprites also use 16 colours each. I think Megaman X may be same as well.

The color limit is really determined by the people doing the sprites; it really doesn't matter what "bittage" they are. It's all a matter of the style.

For example, Plantman from MM6 uses 8 colors total, which is twice as much as the "limit" allows. Mario's sprites from the NES days only have 4 colors. The way Capcom did it was useing multiple layers for their sprites, which mean they could have 2 layers of 4.

They did the same trick for Zero's sprites in MMX4. His saber is a diffrent layer from his actual sprites. Infact, his hair is too. And keep in mind, the game used discs, not packs, so the process of adding the sprites was diffrent. (I think anyhow, I know it's diffrent for today's machines...) What they had to do was make a flat ploygon, and add the sprites to that. Frankly, they could have had many, many more colors then 16. The thing was they wanted attractive looking sprites, and useing more colors doesn't do that...

The SNES Megaman games used 14 colors, while the GBA uses 16. But not all sprites use all those layers for the colors, Mario doesn't really need to for example.

So yeah, don't use bittages to describe sprites... you shouldn't anyhow.
