Paranoid much? The worm is supposed to ACTIVATE today, not get downloaded today. If anyone is/gets infected with it, it would've happened days ago... And one of it's side effects up untill today was to stop the infected comp from getting updates, if you're still getting them then your comp is pretty much secured from it.

Or get the virus remover (http://www.enigmasoftware.com/).

Seriously, did you think of that besides panicking?

I doubt it was even real in the first place.

Probably some massive April Fools prank.

Even if it wasn't real. I at least picked up a new tool for dealing with malicious software because of the event. And it actually found one. So one less problem on the computer with the lacking explorer.exe.
Now to figure out how to get sound back, and maybe enable the scanner, all without the use of the startmenu/control panel.

Anyways. The virus is likely real... but far overhyped. And likely a thief-type, rather than a destroy-all type. Really who crashs computers with viruses anymore, when they can steal money from them.

Yea, the Worm isn't a joke, but so far nothing major's happened. Most professionals believe that if anything does hapen it'll be a few weeks down the road when everyone begins to forget about it and isn't watching for it anymore.

I did research, mostly in a frenzy the night of the 30th. It turns out that the worm enters the system and operates through a hole in Windows security that was patched last year, meaning that as long as you've updated your computer some time late last year or this year, you're fine.

Of course, I set my computer clock to the 2nd early, just in case. :D

I read the name of the thread and said "Ha! I bet this was posted yesterday!"
I was sure it was an Ape-rally Fool's Day thing.
But, is it real?
If so, what does it do exactly?

Yes, it's real Kaldeon, but no one knows what it really does yet. The authors of the worm are lying low for now.
