View Full Version : Order of Ecclesia Help Thread (Spoilers Abound)

Clownman
22-10-08, 20:45
I'm making this specifically for the purpose of keeping help-related questions out of the other thread (although I don't know if any had been posted, better safe than sorry) as some questions that may be asked could spoil parts of the game for others. And any other information related to the game (gameplay-wise) is allowed, including enemy info, boss tactics, Glyph Unions, etc.

-Locations-
This is up to where I currently am and is in the order that they've been "unlocked".

Ecclesia -> Monestary -> Wygol Village -> Ruvas Forest -> Kalidus Channel -> Minera Prison Island -> Lighthouse -> Tymeo Mountains -> Misty Forest Road -> Skeleton Cave -> Somnus Reef -> Giant's Dwelling -> Tristis Pass -> Oblivion Ridge -> Argila Swamp -> Mystery Manor -> Dracula's Castle -> Training Hall + Large Cavern

-Glyph Unions- (Think they all use 15 hearts per attack)
Culter + Culter : Knife Item Crash (not as promising as it sounds)
Confodere + Confodere: Not sure what the effect is...
Macir + Macir: Gigantic Hammer (which of all the unions seems to be the most powerful, I'm Lv.8 and it does 80 damage to certain tower climbing boss)
Hasta + Hasta: Just a bigger lance but it's capable of multiple hits (3 or 4 at most)
Secare + Secare: Giant sword attack
Falcis + Falcis: Giant sickle attack

I THINK you can get it from the Large Cavern. I could be -majorly- wrong, but thats where I think I got it. Otherwise, it might be in the final FINAL area.
Or the Training Area/Tower/Whatever it's called. I don't remember :/

But make sure to go to the Large Cavern with Irvine's (or whatever the mother's name is) last quest. And bring healing items. Lots of them.

I've done all the quests/gotten all but one glyph (which was from a boss and I missed it so yea), so I can probably tell anyone where to get all the stuff.

I got the Alexandrite from the Training Hall, which may take you a while to get through, mostly because of the room with the Fire Rings and the various fire traps.

I see you put up Glyph Unions above. Are we supposed to put up other ones as well, or is this more like a 'H0w u beat crab, no weakpoint f0r MASSIVE DAMMAGE lolz' kind of thread?

Clownman
26-10-08, 16:37
Put it this way, this is a serious thread and as I'm a mod, I'll destroy anyone who ruins it. And yes, you can put up other Glyph Unions. And any other useful info, like strategies for bosses and enemies, how to get certain glyphs, where to find items for quests.

Can you reget medals from bosses you miss or am I to restart my game? Also, is it random whether or not a defeated enemy's dropped glyph will fully materialize?

The Walrus

I don't think there's a way to refight bosses...

Also, Glyph materialization is most likely luck based, like getting Souls in DoS.

Yeah, Glyph drops are dependent on your luck. As for the Large Cavern bit, I got through the last and I got a Minerva Mail... Guess I'll try the Training Hall. All I remember seeing there was I can't fly. Guess it can't be as bad as the gauntlet in the Large Cavern...

It's not. Training Hall is a lot easier then Large Cavern, cause there's only two Double Hammers and you don't have to kill them.

The rapid movement glyph (equilivent of the Black Panther Soul in Dawn of Sorrow) is incredibly useful for almost all the boss fights. (Expect for the giant tidal wave women one and Blackmore) It'll negate every destroyable projectile (Death's miniscythes, final boss's fireballs, etc.) and is great for avoiding stuff.

Anyhow, a real awesome glyph union for the Large Cavern where all those Tin Man are, put Lapisite glyph on both arms, and SMASH THOSE METAL TIN HEADS TO BITS.

I haven't figured out what the forbidden curse glyph is useful for other then doing a good amount of repeating damage. Probably for real awesome glyph union.
You can use Cubus on GIANT ENEMY CRAB effectivly. 25 damage per hit in Boss Rush Mode. Otherwise, it's a fun glyph to use and can probably be placed around a room so when an enemy touches them they get hurt.

I can probably help, seeing as I can beat all/most bosses without getting hit if I bothered to try harder/carelessness gets me hit.

Kinda sad that most/all bosses are dodge and hit. Not neccesarily in that order.

While Boss Rush isn't the best place to figure out the best way to kill something, it can help in getting AI down. I think. Probably not. Maybe. Possibly. Yea.

Dropping cubes is still like the best glyph ever. Just cause.

Additional Glyph Unions:

Luminatio or Vol Luminatio x2 - "Lumine"; fires out a wave that upon contact with an enemy creates an exploding ball of light on them.
Umbra or Vol Umbra x2 - "Umbra"; similar to "Lumine" only dark attribute.
Luminatio or Vol Luminatio/(Any weapon glyph, such as Confodere) - Swings a sword and creates a massive ball of light around you momentarily. Rather powerful.
Umbra or Vol Umbra/(Any weapon glyph, such as Confodere) - Swings a scythe and creates a massive ball of darkness around you momentarily. Rather powerful.

Nitesco x2 - Giant beam fires out dealing approximately double damage per hit.
Lapiste x2 - Two giant fists come crashing from each side of the screen.
Pnuema x2 - "Ventis"; A large cyclone like effect appears around Shanoa momentarily.
Fulgur/Vol Fulgur x2 - Creates a hovering ball of lightning that fires lightning bolts at opponents.
Ignis or Vol Ignis x2 - Exudes a twin flamethrower effect out of Shanoa's hand.
Grando or Vol Grando x2 - Creates a blizzard type effect in the form of a cyclone around Shanoa.
Morbus x2 - "Umbra"; same as the Umbra glyph union.
Acerbatus x2 - "Umbra"; same as the Umbra glyph union.
Globus x2 - "Umbra"; same as the Umbra glyph union.
Dextro Custos x2 - "Umbra"; same as the Umbra glyph union.
Sinestro Custos x2 - "Umbra"; same as the Umbra glyph union.
Dextro Custos/Sinestro Custos - "Umbra"; same as the Umbra glyph union.
Dominus Hatred/Dominus Anger/Dominus Agony - "Now is the time for your demise"; creates a powerful explosion of energy around you but also results in your death. Recommended use only in specific cutscenes, aka where needed.

Torpor x2 - N/A
N/A = A large white fist punch like effect that probably results from two incompatible glyphs, or glyphs that lack any glyph union such as Cubus.

I used Revire, or whatever the magnetic blade glyph is called, to clear as many blocks as I possibly could and then got it. Basically, clear the blocks.

A note about Revire. You can use Magnus on it. Try it. May provide entertaining results.

KoA: I might do my own guide to bosses also, so if you got tips, I'll be willing to try them out.

For the Monestery glyph, I used the Luminatio/Umbra Glyph Union and just held up, I was able to get the glyph before the blocks prevented it from going through the wall.

Not to mention you die when you use it... except for when you need to use it against Drac.

Blackbeltdude
29-10-08, 05:57
Well, I got around to beating the game today...

I thought it was interesting that Dracula actually walked! And after that initial shock and surprise wore off, I realized Konami was just being lazy with it... really, all his profile poses were comprised of parts, which I thought kind of sucked. Still, at least it looked cool.

And for those you don't notice it... his after images give away what move he's about to do. If they're purple, then he'll do the Soul Steal move. I've also heard a LVL 3 shield can stop the bats.

I haven't even gone into the Large Cavern or Training Hall seriously yet though. I seem to like to die for dumb reasons in the Training Hall. :P The odd enemies that walk on the tops of their hammers do just brutal damage. They can actually hit you through the floor when you're next to the skull head things (forgot what they're called). I've also seen a video were transforming into the Robot allows you to just walk through the swinging blades at the beginning too.

And the Demon Lord just does unfair damage. :P I actually haven't even tried to really move past that room.

Also:

I'm digging Albus mode! I'm glad he's got that super jump, but it sucks that he can't drop kick. He also seems to be completely invincible while he's doing his "Fei Long" kick. :P His back dash is great though, and the teleporting is pretty neat too. You can't do short hops with his shots though (like with Shanoa (and most CV games) you can do a short hop, slash, then slash immediately again once you hit the ground).

And for anyone who's been overlooking the Stat-up glyphs: don't. Those things can make a really big difference. STG and INT are the stats that control physical and magic damage, respectively. DEF is for physical attacks, and CON is for magic ones (just in case you guys didn't know, since the instruction booklets don't bother to mention it).

Overall, I really like the game. I'd say it's pretty similar to PoR as far as the stages outside the Castle go... a handful are just recolored tiles of eariler stages. IGN also pointed out that there's plenty of "clone" rooms in the game too, which is pretty obvious sometimes. The Castle is also pretty big, but I think DoS's was better since it had more secrets and passages (and larger too I think). I think the bosses though might have been the most interesting out of the three DS games. A lot of them had some neat twists like:

Having to use the elevator to kill the crab, having to jump on the back of the Eligor, having to only suck the glyph out of the WallMaster to kill him, having to use the Dominus combo to kill Dracula (obvious, but still neat)... Blackmore is just an ass.

Latin to English

Secare = Holy
Falcis = Dagger ( if I remember right )
Hasta = Lance
Culter = Knife
Dominuous = Master ( Master Hatred, Master Anger e.g. )

Blackbelt, if you think the Double Hammers were bad in the Training Hall, you're going to hate the next rooms after the Demon Lords in the Large Cavern. It goes (as far as I've gone):
Tin Mans/Chupacabra Cave Trolls () ->
Demon Lords ->
Double Hammer ->
Weapon Master (it's a combination of Red Smasher, Gurkha Master, and Hammer Shaker) ->
Double Hammers (as in 2) -> And that's as far as I've gone.

Then two Weapon Masters, then I think there's a Tin Mans and Demon Lords, then after that I'm not sure, but there's a boss at the end that can do 400 damage with one attack, and touching him results in about 200 damage (I was I think level 38-40ish by then)

I can't wait to encounter a Double Hammer in Hard Mode. *Expecting to get hit for about 400-600 damage from them*

Clownman

After the Tin Men and Demon Lord, it's a Double Hammer and Weapon Master. Then it's the Jiang Shi.

Blackbeltdude
29-10-08, 19:48
Yeah, I saw a video of someone rushing through the stage. He was able to kill things pretty quick, but only because he was using the Death ring (so, needless to say, he didn't get hit). Isn't the level cap in normal mode just 50? I've heard people talking about level 255 stuff though... anyone know what that's all about?

Galeon
30-10-08, 01:46
Nah, the level cap for normal mode is 99 methinks (given I killed Drac with a lv 52 Shanoa). The 50 Lv Cap appears when you play on Hard Mode (it's either that or 1 Lv Cap) and from what I heard, the Lv 255 cap appears when you either connect your Ecclesia to Castlevania Judgement or clear the game on Lv 1 Hard Mode... I'm not too sure about the Hard Mode one though.

Blackbeltdude
30-10-08, 02:45
Hmm... on one hand I think that's cool, but come on. 255 probably overpowers you too much to make the game a challenge anymore. :P I would also hope the connection between the cool games is cooler... I really want Judgment to be good (I also REALLY hope there's an option to use the character's more conventional looks, as the Death Note artist's really seem to lack personality to me... but that's another thread).

In other news, I beat the Training Hall today. :P

I also got further in the Large Cavern. I got to the room with the two hammer walkers. :P The wings helped keep me out of their range for the most part, but I'll probably need a more useful glyph so they don't corner me again (maybe using the Last Attack with a Death Ring).

Quick question: Does Jiang Shi have a medal?

Quick question: Does Jiang Shi have a medal?
...that's a good question. Make sure to grab the glyph that he uses, as that's actually a handy and kinda funny glyph. But I don't know if he has a medal or not. Might.

Tip on the Double Hammers/Weapon Masters: Fulgar. Spam Fulgar on them. The Weapon Masters are actually 10x easier to dodge than Double Hammers because after about half their life (3000 is their max, Double Hammers have 2000), they throw the swords away and use the hammer and throwing knives (which can be dodged by ducking.)

Gizmonicgamer
31-10-08, 05:47
He doesn't. I've beaten him without getting hit (in a matter of seconds, actually) and got nothing. There's also no room in the item database for one, would it exist.

EDIT: Also I found spamming Lapiste to be the best way to deal with the Double hammers and Weapon Masters, as each hit does approximately 100 damage, and you can hit several times per second. Basically, when they start rushing up to me I use a glyph union to hit them for 400-600 damage and then when they get close enough I start smashing them with the stone fist (Lapiste) for a few seconds until they fall, giving them no more then one or two chances to hit me. Ducking helps. Same thing with the Weapon Masters.

Jiang Shi is ridiculously weak against bladed weapons such as Melio Confodere; I've taken him down in a matter of seconds - without using cheap death ring/judgement ring Glyph Unions.

Galeon
31-10-08, 06:59
The only thing annoying with Jiang Shi was that the balls of light don't disappear even after 30 secs of them being on screen (or off screen). The fastest method for killing him is flying while using Melio Falcis over and over for me.

SpeedReemix
31-10-08, 16:37
Latin to English

Culter = Knife
Dominuous = Master ( Master Hatred, Master Anger e.g. )

No one like me and my translations T_T

Gizmonicgamer
02-11-08, 03:19
Thats because they're incorrect, for the most part.

Secare = [to cut , amputate; to wound, hurt; to divide, part]
Falcis = [a sickle , bill-hook, pruning-hook; a sickle-shaped implement of war].
Hasta = More then likely spear, though the only relevant thing I'm getting is: hastatus -a -um [armed with a spear]; m. pl. as subst. , hastati -orum, [the front rank of the Roman army when drawn up for battle].
Culter = The most relevant thing discovered was; cultellus : a little knife.
Dominus = Lord, so in this case it would be referring to the Lord of Darkness, Dracula.

Actually... Both out of personal curiosity and a desire to help I may end up organizing a list of translation for all the glyphs... which, due to the fact that I don't actually know latin ( ): ) is mostly going to consist of research.

I feel oddly empty after getting all the medals. Blackmore was the hardest for me because it took forever to figure out how to dodge his consecutive 3 punch combo. I've got but a couple hidden rooms left to find as my coverage is 99.70 percent.

Solarblade

So, I've found that for most bosses, SPAMIGNIS Double Ignis works wonders against bosses (in normal game mode) in taking them down insanly fast. I could take down Goliath down in about a minute or so, at about level 20ish (whatever the average level range for that place is, I don't remember.)
Heck, I took down the Water Demon boss in about a minute or so with it (mind, I was more or less equipped to do MASSIVE SPELL DAMAGE, but point still stands.)

Heck, I used Double Ignis (note, not Vol Ignis. Ignis > Vol Ignis) to get through most of the game. It's how I got most of the medals >.>;

In my second run through the game (with Shanoa on normal), I so far have collected all the medals but Dracula's, and have collected 100% glyphs and am now trying to collect all the items.

Which reminds me, WHERE IS RECORD 1? I haven't found it yet :/

Well, I think if you talked to Barlowe at some point, he'd tell you that ducking can "reveal secrets from the earth" or something like that. You could just slide around in suspicious areas and find a chest popping up. I always made it a point to just up on ledges and then duck, just in case something was there. I'd also hit dead ends and ledges. I think as long as you know there are hidden areas and fake walls in the game, you can find them.
