Would you say your excited for this game? I love Residant Evil and all zombie type games and this game I'm very excited about. The game idea reminds me of Alien (movie).

I'm excited.
I think it's already out on the PS3, though. So... once I have enough cash I'll pick it up.

You know it. I've been quite hyped for this game, so as with KR, as soon as I get the money, it is mine.

I'll probably have gotten it by the end of the year. I really, really want it, but there are other games I want much more.

I’ll have to wait until the 23rd October to get it on PC here.

I must confess I’m quite thrilled: I hope I’ll experience the same feeling I had with Doom3 (i.e. being scared almost constantly to the end of the game). Also, knowing that this game was banned in Japan (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/17531/Dead-Space-Banned-in-Germany-China-and-Japan/) (and, sadly, Germany) made my day.

The problem is I’m also waiting for FarCry2 and, to a lesser extend, for Cryostasis, both being announced for the 23rd October.

And since I’m an FPS junky, I’ll probably get those two before Dead Space.

Why the heck would they ban an FPS from those 3 countries intrigues me... Anyone know the reason behind their decision??

Maybe they felt it was too gorey. JPN censored Leon's beheading scenes in RE4 if my memory serves me right.

Beat the game today...and the ending disapointed me. Not going to say anything else to ruin the plot or anything, but it definitely didn't please me.

*snif*Nicole...*snif*

The rest of the game was definitely grand however. I loved the story, the suspense, the action, the drama, and all the mysteries that did unfold. Well done EA, you really made my day by having this game released so soon. I remember last year not at all interested in the game because the story that they revealed and the provided screenshots weren't anything unique or interesting enough to grab my attention like the many other similar titles.

But after having revealed more, and getting sucked into the storyline, I'm definitely pleased with this series, and hope that EA keeps their word at revealing more of the stories from within this "universe". It was a lot of fun.

Also, I can't wait for the DVD that's going to come out on the 28th.

Hopefully, since Far Cry 2 is— a strange yet interesting mixture of great moments and desperately-not-great-at-all moments, I had no reserve in buying Dead Space and jumping into the game…

…where I landed on my ass, screaming for my mommy…

Got. To. Love. The. Oppressing. Ambiance.

...Oppressing...Did you mean "depressing" or "ominous"? Oppressing seems like the wrong word to me to use when describing the Dead Space sound track. Oh, and the "Fear-Factor" sound bar that the programmers built in is ridiculously frightening in the worst possible places. To frighten you they play a sound clip that you'd expect to hear when an enemy is right behind you...but then it turns out that there's nothing there...and then you begin to doubt yourself...and then you start to go crazy. "Is there someone here or not?...OMG there is!!" After a while it starts messing with your perception of the game, and unless you've already beaten it, you have no idea which way the enemies are coming from, or even if the enemy exists to begin with. I remember watching a documentary where the programmers were laughing about wanting to see the effect of that code on the players, because it was specifically designed to get you in the WRONG mood. Where there's danger, it starts out all quite and peaceful until it's too close or too late. Then, when there's no danger at all, they play the scary music to make you think there's danger. RazemFrackemRiggemRaggemBlarg!

I just didn't like that sort of thing. But I DID love the music in the game. (not the sound-effects and what-not) The Music was great. Is there a sound-track being released any time soon? 'Cause I'd like to buy it.

Actually I’ve messed up both words. I should have said “stressing atmosphere”; the enemies that may jump on you from nowhere and scare the hell out of you (like these big tentacles thingies), the enemies that like to mimic corpses (I got totally owned the first time even if I saw it coming) , the shadows you see running (usually the one of an enemy behind you), the zerg-rush where you miss the half of your shots by panicking, the deceiving ambiance (like you’ve said), et cetera …

…while the game seems to quite use the jack-in-the-box trick to make you jump out of your skin, it also uses these other mechanics to make you anxious (only if you’re immerged in the game, of course), which is a big plus in my eyes.
