The body definitely needs more customization, and a lighter green to match Harupia better. Also, the old background is still visible through the legs and in other places. The wing looks good, but vaguely familiar. Did you make it, or is it from somewhere?

He took the wings from Model HX, which is style mixing. Try to edit to fit the style.

Might want to make his body less resemble Mega Man's, and try a bit more contrast with the greens. Are you using official palettes? If not, do so and the colors will look more BN style.

The only thing I can suggest is higher contrast and less pillow-shading. The other major problem aside from any style-mixing issues is that Harpuia doesn't really look like Harpuia in Bn style. It looks like a green MegaMan with Harpuia wings and helmet. You need to add in a whole lot more detail.

Also, the shadow between his legs shouldn't be riding all the way up the legs.

The sprite so far isn't that bad, so don't start off thinking you suck.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm VERY new to this kind of stuff so I'll try to make everything work. The wings aren't actually model HX, but something very much alike. In the mean time here's another version I did using Harpuia's original colors. Is it me, or is the head too small?

Yes, his head is too small. And the colours do not fit. Style mixing doesn't work for these two styles, especially when it is a recolour plus head(and wing)swap.

I suggest editing MegaMan.EXE's head to make the head, and try scratching or editing the wings to fit in the stlye.

Maybe if you take the color scheme from a Wood style from MMBN3 you'd have better luck. As for the head adornments, the shape is right, but they need to be a bit bigger. maybe about 1.5x bigger just to give you something to work with.

In MMBN3, you could style change depending on what elemental chips you used, if you used primarily wood chips, you changed into a wood style, and the sprite was green. Use that palette as a base for your Harpuia. you can find the sprites in the BN archive on the main page.

Sorry for double Post!!!!



So I'm trying with the scheme ZGM suggested, mix and match with the helmet right now, and I'm using the original harpuia's gold and metallic parts as a nice customizing effect. One example is the stripe down the Megaman leg as my base. I'm completely re-doing it. I'm not sure about wings. Should I edit the original one, or maybe try the second one, which is Harpuias blade as a jet? The boots are kind of going downhill, but I'll see how it looks re-sized. How does that sound for a game plan?

You know you could just edit your last post, because you don't have an update in the current one. It'd make sense to tag the current text with the previous. As for the sprite, it does have better contrast and colors...

But now you swapped the real Harpuia's head over MegaMan's. Or at least that's what it looks like to me, because it looks like a simple style-mix frankenstein. You need to sprite a new head from MegaMan's to resemble Harpuia instead of copying and pasting Harpuia's head over the body of Mm.

I'm having trouble with shading though. With the Megaman wood style everything is a darker green (the Helmet, but especially the main body) so if I try to keep a lighter green it looks like there isn't any shading at all. If that makes any sense... Also I know what you mean by using the original head instead of a new one. That's also the reason why its too small. Anyways, by the way my new body turned out (besides the fact of the shading problems) I think I'm on the right track.

An idea for colors: Find a colored picture of harpuia you like, and use the dropper tool to take colors from it. :3

That's what I've been doing, but it seems like the shading just doesn't mix. You can try. Take any BN character and color their main body a lighter color. It wont mix at all, It'll have a neon-gone-wrong effect.

Yes, that's what I'm using. But I need to get the main body lighter, instead of just stripes and boots etc. I'm making those gold and silver like on the original Harpuia body.

I know, I know it probably looks too much like the original Model M. But dismissing that problem what else do you think needs improvement. The Vee symbol on his is probably a center of critique.

I'd say that the colour change is too sharp and sudden from the light green to the dark. It could do with either a middle shade between the two or darkening/lightening one of the offending shades. Also, the 'V' crest has an outline, which ZX style generally lacks.

You like it? Wow... I didn't know how to make it look less like Fefnir and I know the red doesn't work too well. It was just a "Hey, that might look cool!" kind of thing. As for Model Q I'm not too good at customizing yet so it'll on hold for w while. When I do finally try it again though I'll color him one shade lower.

hmmm Model Q needs a different green no doubt ... the new sprite ... well itīs not bad but it someone looks like a combo of Fefnir and Harpuia Oo but well keep up the good work...

The forehead thingy on the Model Q looks weird.. Try moving it so they're closer together because they look like they're a pixel or two apart and the real quint's are together. But if that was fixed than it would be a perfect model Q sprite!.. Except I think it could use a little darker colors.

Here's a little 8-bit character idea. Obviously I've drawn a blank on helmet designs. If anyone likes one of the ones I already have, which one?? if you have any ideas for a better one please tell me or better yet show me. I know the pose is bad, but its just a base for now.

PS, I was thinking of Rocket-Man being his name...

PPS, also after I'm somewhat satisfied with what comes out of this guy, I'll work on the stuff I already posted again

The underwear seems off for some reason, can't put my finger on it.

Yea that would be Diveman's "rocket". And as far as the mid-section goes... I think I might have to just widen the whole body a teeny-bit.

Well if he's going to look like the MMZ harpuia, then follow my suggestion, if not, then just don't do what i posted.
