I know everyone (or most everyone) is familiar with the Rock Man complete works games 1-6 for the Sony Playstation (1). However, I have yet to see any actual rips of helmetless MegaMan. So here is what I have found.

Apparently, while his hair has similar detail in RM4 and RM5, there are slight changes to them (more noticeable over the eyes in RM5). However in RM6, it seems like he either got a complete hair makeover, or just a bad hair cut.

After doing some more research, it appears that the helmetless MegaMan mode is only available for the last 3 games (RM4-RM6). While the first 3 games (RM-RM3) only feature music remixes (which I assume the music remixes are part of the helmetless megaman code in the last 3 games).

While I haven't found them anywhere on this site, have these particular sprites of helmetless MegaMan been ripped? (NOT requesting for them, just asking if they have been, so I won't waste my time)
If not, I am willing to rip these sprites of helmetless MegaMan if it will be of any use to the site. :)

Don't know if this will help, But I have combined all the sheets into one, and fixed a couple of color/pixel errors due to my part.

If there's anything missing that needs to be ripped, I'll see what I can do, or let the others help with it. ;)

How are you going to rip these?

Like how I did those screens. Is there a problem? o_O

Are you using the original PSX discs or ISOs of them? Or are you using the Gamecube version?

I checked MegaMan Anniversary Collection (GameCube version. I imagine the PS2 version is almost identical, despite having different bonuses). The helmetless mode doesn't seem to even exist on it.

So yea, I've managed to find some of the ISO's of the Japanese PSX version somewhere. Due to the forums rules, regulations & restrictions, I am forbidden to post them here.
Do you have an easier method of ripping them if they were from the actual CD or something? I was just going to do screen shot rips if that was okay. I don't know any other method.
I imagined some people here may, or might have had the PSX games, considering that I recall seeing some artwork & loading screen rips in that particular section.

Try a program called PSicture, it's hit or miss but sometimes you get lucky. And if you're using ePSXe, send me some of the savestates and I can see what I can get from them.

Yes, I am using ePSXe, and I believe one of the video plugins I have has an option to record clean videos frame by frame, no clipping.

As for save states, do you really need them? Considering all the MegaMan games 2-6 have a password system. And all you need to do to get helmetless MegaMan is to hold R2 button and press start. It appears to work on both Classic, and Navi mode games.

I don't mind ripping them. It'll give me something to do while waiting for Mega Man 9, which is the main reason why I went back to playing, and going over old Mega Man games lately. :)

I can decompress ePSXe savestates and get the sprites from the VRAM, that is how we got the sprites from Castlevania Symphony of the Night (since the enemies in that game are embedded in the disc itself).

You mean the save states under Run -> Load State (F3), correct? Or do you mean PSX memory card saves?

Does it matter where the save state leaves off? I just input the password for all bosses defeated, all weapons and items collected, and i have save state set at the select screen before the dr. wily levels. So couldn't you do that? The reason I ask is because all the save states I have of under my epsxe have weird file names, like SLPS, SLUS, & some random number, .pic. Can't tell what games they're from. Might have to end up sending you all my epsxe saves.

1. Run -> Load State

2. I don't have the games, but a savestate of the select screen could be useful. Do the savestates on any stage (even a Wily one), at least of one stage, with and without a helmet. As long as they have been the last games you been playing, just right-click and arrange by date, they should be the last ones.

Would it help better if I sent you a private message to the ISO's, or would that still get me warned/banned from the forum?

UPDATE 1: Uploaded a sample sprite sheet of helmetless MegaMan from RockMan 4 Complete Works. See top post. :)

UPDATE 2: Uploaded a sample sprite sheet of helmetless MegaMan from RockMan 6 Complete Works. See top post. :)

Just send me the savestates, ISOs would take too long to download. Unless you found extremely compressed ones that turned a 300 meg ISO into 10 megs.

Alright, I'll send you the save states when I feel like I'm done ripping helmetless megaman sprites. :)

EDIT1: Updated the RM6 helmetless sheet. :)

EDIT 2: Uploaded a sample sprite sheet of helmetless MegaMan from RockMan 5 Complete Works. See top post. See top post. :)

I think that's about everything I can find. Tell me if there is anything that I am missing from one of these 4 games, and I'll see what I can do. ;)

There are some things missing from at least 6, they're flashing sprites for Jet Rockman, but one of them doesn't normally show up. I'll look through the VRAM for anything else missing.

And it looks like it doesn't matter if it's in original or Navi mode, every thing is loaded (at least what is needed for both modes) in the VRAM.

Oh, I just imagined that there would be sample differences in the save, depending if it was saved in normal or Navi mode. For instance, extra graphics, since the music has gotten remixed and all the display icons & bars have been updated.

I know, I think there's a sprite of Mega Man attempting to hold up the ceiling at the end of Mega Man 5. But due to the black BG area, I doubt I would manage to rip the hair right from a screen shot rip.

So those saves work for you, in which they contain every detail, or do you need a save at another location for the rest?

I might have to explain what I'm doing with the savestates, I'm doing this...

The only other savestates needed would be for the title screen and menus.

Oh, wow..... That's.......... A bit.... Extreme.
I mean all that you're showing. Everything is in pieces and scrambled junk.

As for the rest of the saves, I'll see what I can do.
For the title screen, do you need it at the very beginning before the game's title screen (before the mode selection menu), or at the actual game's title screen (after selecting normal or navi mode)?

When you can select original, navi, etc.

N-Mario
22-07-08, 19:15
Okay. I'll get those for you. :)
Do you want the saves from all 1 - 6, or just saves from the last ones 4 - 6?

Oh, I just realized, there may be a color error in some of the black outlines of Rock Man 4 & 6 CW sheets, specifically around some of the ladder climbing parts. >_<

DWN-060 Clownman

All.

Done.

Sent the saves to your PM. :)
