Somewhere in the world a single drop of its population screams... All that screaming came from DSMK2.

I'm on animesuki, and I find this: Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z

Instant reaction: :g-O_o:

I recall seeing this somewhere in the MGG forums long... Long ago, and its being made into a anime?! Of all things... A anime on Powerpuff Girls?!

Someone please explain this to me >_o

Its Japanese nipponisation, they've done this a few time with popular series such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Highlander, WitchBlade and a Power Rangers styled Spider-man (although done in real life, it striped Spider-man completely of his backstory and replaced him as a alien from a dying planet) Probeley won't bother with it since I'm not a fan of Powerpuff Girls anyway.

EDIT: And shouldn't this have been in animation?

It'll be moved to Animation because it's under-loved. Animation, that is. And I've heard about Powerpuff Girls Z.

I really don't think it will be THAT! popular. Because moving some american cartoon that has super heros that fight bank robers to an anime sceen is not going to be well any bodys cup of tea.I think when it comes here to america with it's dub voices. I think it will crash and burn before it ever gets to ep 5.That's what I supose. Besides anime is supose to be oraginal (sp) and have no characters fighting bank robers at all! and that's all I have to say.

Animes are original...ha..ha....ahahahahaha! where do you get your views from? so all those cute little animes like Pokemon and Pretty Cure are something you don't class as anime? Animes are inspiried by the west more then you think buddy.

Japanese and American animation get a lot from each other. Currently American animation is going through a sort of fad of ninja/samurai/Japanese related action cartoons inspired by those from Japan, but Japan also has it's moments of doing the same back. When Disney animation hit japan, suddenly there was a huge spluge of anime starring talking animals. hell, one of Japan's first cartoon charaters was more or less a knock off of Felix the Cat.

Japanese Anime is no more original than anything you get over here, they all copy from each other and there are loads of series' out here that are complete carbon copies of others.

Concuring with everything Aki said, and most of what Gaga said, as it saves typing, and I'm going to take on board most of what Gaga says about animation anyway, as I'm extremely biased.

As it was mentioned earlier, I would just like to say HOLY SHIT, YES, they are making a "proper" anime about Highlander.

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE! \m/

Try telling the Otaku that. I almost got my head bitten off when i said a lot of anime nicks stuff from the west as much as disney nicks stuff from anime. (lion king\kimba, Atlantis\ Nausica and all that jazz)

Yeah i remember having this news on the old forums. Artists who drew powerpuffs as anime characters rejoiced.

Speaking of anime supposing to be original, many Japanese animes are based on manga, the comics, so yeah.

Manga is where 96% (guessing) of anime comes from. This is so they can guarantee the animated series will be successful, if the Manga already has been. How many episodes they make normally goes on how popular the Manga comic was. Simple, really.

More often than not, anime that is not based on a Manga is based on something else, like a franchise or novel. For example: Sonic the Hedgehog (although Sonic X flopped in Japan) and now this Powerpuff Girl anime. Most of the original anime is made for video first, a much less risky market compared to TV. That, or he director/creator has to be pretty darn famous to be allowed to go ahead with a new idea.

Before Miyazaki was the big name he is now, he wasn’t allowed to make Nauissca until it was certain that it was going to make a splash, so he went off for a decade and made a long running Manga of the idea he had. Only then when this comic was so huge he got the nod to produce the movie. After that he set up Studio Ghibli, and can now do what he darn wants.

Definitly.

They should leave our crappy animation alone. Wait...

The main differences with American and Japanese animation is technology.

In Japanese animation, they use computers to improve production. As in, thanks to digital ink and paint, they can afford to have more frames of animation in their work. Static images with moving mouths are not needed anymore.

However, in American animation, they use computers to cut down their work. Hence why so much of it is produced in Flash now. The problem with this is the animation quality more often or not goes down the toilet. That or the just use CGI full-stop even if it doesn't quite work for the characters.

European animation is pretty much in-between there. hey take a lot of shortcuts, but try not to let it get in the way of the quality of the animation. Just look at something like Shrunken School: the characters are simple, but very smooth moving and have good anatomy.

I’ll stop now XD

Nice synopsis, Gaga. I actually did a brief paper on this subject my freshman year in my Anime class (yes, that's right), and a major portion of it was an analysis of American vs. Japanese animation. However, while what you may have said may be true for the past few years, up until very recently it was actually the Japanese who were known to be the ones to cut more corners in their animation style (with the obvious exception of the American Hanna-Barbara toons) that were forced by their comparatively lower budgets to American Disney and Warner Bros. cartoons. In fact, Disney character animations and WB backrounds were/are seen as major influences on anime at large. It was actually due to their lower budgets that Japanese animators developed a sliding background where a single massive picture in the form of a mural or several murals made up the background and it was the camera moving that gave the impression of motion rather then drawing each individual frame from scratch.

However, that has largely changed as the anime industry tends to be a much larger cash cow than almost any American toon, hence why there are so many anime rip-offs being released in the United States today.

About the whole borrowing issue, I am going to point out an anime that DEFINATLY get's it kicks from american cartoons. Big O. It looks like the Batman cartoons from the 90's. All animation borrows from other animation. America right now is responding to the huge boom of anime's that have made it to the US and trying to mimic the style to get higher ratings (unfortunatly, it's making their shows look like crap I.E. Teen Titans, Totally Spies...).

Totally Spies is French, just goes to show you everyone seems to be mimicking the style. Agreeing with everything Gaga said, there is no originality etc etc everyone borrows from each etc etc

Still looking forward to Highlander: Vengence, just there's no Connor MacLeod, it would have been cool if they brought Christopher Lambert back but alas :(

Apparently a little bird tells me Britain's becoming the 4th country to properly produce its own manga (along with Korea, China and Japan). Whilst i can't take his word for it, it's somewhat sad seeing they ousted desperate dan in favour of this stuff. Bah.

The "first ever" british manga anime according to the cretins at Sci Fi channel, is the godawfully abysmally fucking awful Dominator. And it's in CG.

Man, watching that on a new years day morning, while hungover as hell, in a group of people teetering on the edge of projectile vomiting was a mistake.

Girl: what's hell look like? Motorhead album covers spring to mind
Dominator [voiced by Dani Filth]: ACTUALLY IT'S MORE LIKE CRADLE OF FILTH
Kirt: GHAHRRHAGGHRR!
Tom: ?!
Me: FUCK.

Mojo Jojo looks great.

What the feck is Dominator? I need to see just how bad it is.

"Englands first manga!" despite it being fucking CGI. ALTHOUGH- The acting/plot on it is bloody terrible, so it's almost authentic.

It's a pile of shite. Dont watch it.
Dani Fucking Filth voices the main character.

Although- it is one of those shite movies you are compelled to watch in a group to come together in mutual hatred. (it ISN'T one of those "So bad it's good" things, it's "So fucking terrible it's fun to hate it" things)
