I am thinking of using him in a flash game.

This is the character that has the most sprites in my comic, and he's still getting more. The comic itself has a handful of recolors left from the beggining, but I'm in the process of killing them all off until only Blammo and a few others are left. There is a thread about the comic going on right now, actually. Please don't bash it, someone already has. Constructive criticism is appreciated.

ok as most people have said make him look less like Megaman.

The sprites will need a little more shading since it looks a bit flat.

Well, first of all, the shading looks rather flat. Put more contrast between the shades. Also, it appears that many parts have no shading whatsoever, ie the hair, the busters, and the visor.

Secondly, the saber is shaded badly. It's a bit too bright to actually tell exactly why, but it appears that you need to reverse the two colors so the lighter is on the inside.

Thirderness, the hair looks, to say the least, fugly. It appears that there is a dead, melting something on his head. Kudos for moving the hair in the moving poses, though.

And fourthly, Met hats are cliche.

While the base is painfully obvious, this is a more minor matter. You may keep the level of customization at wherever you wish, but you will most likely recieve some flak from others, who will attempt to make you change it, most likely in a loud manner.

I must say, however, I rather like some of the more custom poses. The best advice I can give you is just to keep at it. Spriting takes patience and the ability to take criticism.

Er, the lighter part of the saber is on the inside. Thanks for the replies, btw.

The met hat has to do with the comic, it has no real significance. I wasn't intending on using that when I eventually make a game (i.e. when hell freezes over).

And the hair, well... it was an attempt to transfer a hairstyle from a drawing to a sprite, and besides, melting can be applied to many good things.:D
nachos
fudge
evil overlords
evil witches from the west
cheese in general
Just kidding, just kidding.

Anyway, the busters aren't actually busters. It was a gained weapon from a defeated enemy in the comic, and they are more like grenade launchy thingies. So what is his main means of attack you say? Well, the name should be a hint. A kind of clichelicious energy attack.

I will work on the shading, thanks for the tips.

Yup, the same what people said, add shading.
Edit the hair, If you can't make scracht hair, edit megamans hair.
That Met hat...I hope you know that's bit mixing, and that's even bad for a comic.
It's hard to see the sword, add some outlines.
Those glasses have no, or almost no shading.
Don't you'se bright colors.
Customize him more. Make original poses.
That's all.

The character is largely just recolored... Anyways, about the saber, try making a bit of motion blur on the saber. It looks better when animated.

if i gave it a motion blur when its out of the comic, when i paste him in, there would be that annoying cloud of slightly off-white around it
