View Full Version : Now I´ve got shocked
Ok, I´ve played Castelvania 1 when I was much younger and stopped playing because I was too much scared of Death who freaking kicked my ass, Anyways Iwanted to try it out again and recently I´ve played Aria of Sorrow and got hocikedy when I´ve noticed similiarities with a game I´ve played before : Shaman King: Master of Spirit 1/2.
Both were produced by Konami, but I didn´t know that it´s possible to createtwo games with similiar gameplay and style(Similiar Enemies, Soul system,Atmosphere) :

Huh. Now THAT's odd......
Maybe a gameplay video or something would be better. Those screens are, well...
The first screen: This is a common way of conversation in many a RPG. You can find a dozen more with this kind of chatboxes, without even trying.
The second screen: A weapons screen. Nothing we haven't seen before. Altough the variety of weapons are similiar somehow.
The thirth screen: Plaformer. Everyone looks like that. Style may be identical, but so are a lot of games. (Tough, I've played that game myself, and yes, it plays real similiar. It just can't be shown on a screenshot).
Fourth screen: Okay, this one I admit.

You can obviously tell which game Konami cared about more and put more effort into.
Shaman King sprites looked quite terrible, tbh.

An early contender for Post of the Year?
Yeah, a lot of those are just coincidental methinks. Although those skelly bosses do look like one was too inspired by the other.
Well, the giant skull thing in the shaman King game was actually in the Anime too
And the giant skull thing, first one that is, from Aria is called the gashadokuro in Japan, which is from Japanese folklore, the second one is a Big Skeleton (Biggu Gaikotsu). Actually the Shaman King could be a gashadokuro also, but I don't care about the series enough to look it up.
Another I´ve got shocked moment in Castelvania AoS was when I fough Graham:
I have noticed that his final form looks similiar to Copy X´s final form. (Altough Graham is more Demonic and X Angelic)...I think more were based on this concept......What are they based off?
Archangels/Seraphs. I believe that's what they were called. There were more bosses like that. Hold on, I'll get a screenshot.
[edit]Got it. Warning, slight X8 spoilers for those who give a fuck.http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/2872/lumineseraphxz7.png

Sephiroth's final form, too.
However, Blackhook has a point. his 2 look quite alike.

The second one is Faust VIII's Bone Yard Giant, which he creates with his spirit, Eliza, if that helps.
When I had said second one, I meant in Aria, which is a golden palette swap named Big Skeleton.
As far as the first shaman king/AoS similarities go...yeah theres a lot. But they both draw from many mythological sources, so there will be similiarities (And they play similiarly too)
As for the second two... Personally they are about as the same as an ink blot and a maple leaf. Graham doesn't draw from the same concept source as Copy X, quite clearly. Graham is fused demons, while Copy X is Seraphim inspired.
