I'm just a beginner put I still wanted to put some stuff I've done up. Um this actually my 1st project and I'm doing a Megaman ZX version on Tao Ren from Shaman King. and Here it is (at least the unfinished standing). Plz give me advie where needed

This outfit....And I got a picture of him in a ad in the Jump mg and he had purple hair but brown or black is better because purple is gay

Well for starters the Giro clothes need to go, the shoulders have to be slimmer, and his horn is too round

well that pokemon sprite needs some shading. Looks pretty dull atm and maybe show the rest of the eye? Since black dosent stand out against brown. And the ZX sprite is just a giro headswap (well from first looks it is)

1.Pokemon Online didnt really have much shades..so it would have looked out of place

2.I'm not done with the ZX sprite

And you're a little d***head. Not a single colour has any sexuality viewpoint with it.

Anyways, the colour for the arm skin is the colour in the face. Kinda obvious. The hand to wrist proportions are horrible. He is too tall. Change the hair's colour.

*edit* AA means anti-aliasing, which Tuna is somewhat-wrong about. The style is just an enlarged pokemone R/S/E style. With less shading quality.

2.I only see two shades in the face, is the dark gold color part of the skins shades

This Tao Ren sprite seems like a tough cookie to crack so I was sitting here wonder what can I do. Then I thought "everyone does models of there fav Mega Man characters" so I said "Hey I really love Copy X from Megaman Zero 1" so I did a little spriting of his ooting and pose and I swear this is my best idea yet.

Oh boy... I better comment about this before someone gives you the harsh version. Conseptually, your Idea is good. However... That idea translated to copying and pasting, and recoloring. Which get a lot of (debatably) unneeded flak around here, as they don't help one improve their skills much.

Models differ from their original some. Like the buster... It probably would look a little different... Bigger comes to mind.
He probably would have simpler head spikes but more of them.
The key with making a good model is making it similiar with out copying out right.

Really, the buster has had the most change, all else isn't that great. The gold doesn't have enough contrast, and it is obviously Model X.

give me some ideas...i use the same shades on copy x's buster and i don't really have any ideas about the whole make it not look like the base thing without messing it up. and you didnt say anything about the spikes

Wh yshoudl I say anything aobut the spike? A small detail such as that, are useless if I still see Model X in the image.

If you really have nothing that seperates it from both Copy X and Model X, then you can't really progress. Maybe you should edit the armour? Ever thought about that? The head defiantly needs to change. You also have too many colours. Either get rid of the green, or use it inplace of another colour.

I think I'm getting rid of the buster and starting over. It's too big for my liking..I'm not in to the over sized weapons

The helmet is really getting good . Since this is model Copy X looking a little like Model X is unavoidable...
A Model's buster really only has to function like the Reploid's weaponry.
Keep that in mind.

The torso could do with some more Copy X'ifying.
I'd give suggestions on how but I'm curious on where you end up taking this sprite without them...

A complete overhaul on the design. Did you even read my post? Maybe draw or sprite parts of a new design at random. You could just make some slight edits and say you've got the design, but even then, you should diffrent your design from X's.

One opinion isn't the same for others. The shoulders are overdone, so are Giro Express pants, open jackets, small torso, and model X head recoloured with slight edits. I personnaly dislike the size of the buster, but that isn't too much.(one pixel too big, I believe) So, the buster defiantly doesn't outway everything else on both characters.

well i know about Jin. Thats just the basic design..........and fuck model GX. i wil work on it when im more advance. I'll work on model HY.....i already have the basic design written but i need to finish Jin because model HY doesn't cover the whole body. and i cant draw for shit. but good thing friday my parents gonna be out of town so i got the house to myself (my girl coming over =-) ) so ill work on it then.

It's been awhile and I've been working on my spriting a little. Right now I'm working on the Ephonite Crew aka the E-Crew which are sonic characters.Im off on spring break so thats what i'll be doing and the occasianally hack every now and thing but i digress......This is just the beginning of the sprite but heres Hype the Hedgehog.

If it is an edit, his hand looks weird becuase it's larger than the one in front.

As for the color scheme, good, but why can't you make it more custom?

I never said I thought it was finished. In fact, even without reading, I could tell you were no where close to getting done with this. Every single sprite sheet I have ever started were a work in progress, and still are. I never said anything about your Hedgehog's design being finished, and that's the sole purpose of why I gave you any critique at all.

If I knew you were going to be stuborn, I wouldn't have suggested anything, and let you rot in it. The fact that I did give critique was because I knew there were alot of things you needed to fix, because that it wasn't done yet.

Why else would I give critique to change or fix if it was completely done?

So maybe next time before you start accusing us of not looking into the details, maybe you should "plz" read and notice the details. OK I like what I've done so far. This is the best sprite I've done so far (even though I've only done 3 including this one) but still tell me if I need to improve but I do have one problem....How can I make it where he doesn't look so much like sonic.

Well, as far as I can remember, Sonic had one left hand, and one right hand. You've got two left hands, so that's a good start. Maybe try rotating his other hand as well? His head too, while you're at it.

But seriously? Get rid of the head, and the shoes. Not even Shadow uses the same head/face/shoes as Sonic, and he's a friggin' clone.

Good, much more unique. But instead of several strands of hair, why don't you make that into just one long hedgehog band of hair, okay?

And...For the love of...! How many times do me and Boilman have to say: "Your hand is the wrong direction" before you can understand that it's the wrong direction?

Now, tell me, where are your fingers? On the front of your hand, or the back?

Because right now, your sprite's right hand has the fingers the wrong direction. His fingers are on the wrong side of the hand.

I'll stop bitching about the hand now, unless the next update has it too. In which case I'll just give up.

This is what I advise to do: remove all inner colors from the following, and make tho outline you have left one solid, easy to see color, like dark-red/dark-green.

Shoes.
Bottom half of the spikes.
Face.
Remove the socks entirely.

Once this is done, play around with the lines a bit, making them make curves at other places, have different shapes entirely, etc.
After that, color them in. If you do this little technique right, you can get neat results, and it's also a tiny step further towards scratch spriting instead of editing (only if done right, tough).

Then you could have deleted a post, instead of triple posting.

I think doing the stereo typical "two fingers held up" for a ninja style is a bad choice, when it is only one hand. I don't know much about BN at all, but if it would fit with what you're trying to do, you could edit the head and give the feet a sleeker, longer boot. You don't have to do exactly that, but you need to make it still Mega, but defiantly change the way he is armoured more.
