Like the title says this is just the prolog for a book me and a friend of mine are writing. The actual writing of this was all done by me though. If there are any questions just ask and I will answer them the best I can without revealing any spoilers.

WARNING!! WARNING!!
All Personel Please Evacuate The Building Immediately.
The maelstrom began almost immediately after the call came out, All of the workers scrambled out of their labs into the cold steel hallways of the Effluvium Plant. Steep pipes, frigid withe the blue mist that ran through their veins, littered the ceiling and walls of the plant's main hallway. The floor was made out of some metal grating thate made an echoing clanking noise whenever it was walked on. It all gave an impression of despair and death which frightened the workers into afit of hysteria. The weak and slow were trampled as the rest rushed towards the exit like a stampede of elephants. As they neared the exit, A transluminant shadow rose from the grated floor while bellowing in a deep yet electrified voice,
"I'm sorry, but I can't allow you to leave here...ALIVE!", As the shadow's last syllable ended a great puplish-yellow stream of electricity crackled along the floor magnetizing it and the workers in place.
"WHAT!? What's going on!? I can't MOVE!!!", yelled a deep baritone voice from the back of the group, which the shadow responded curtly...,
"Why... you're death my good sir, Well I got'ta go, I bid you all adieu... See ya in the AFTERLIFE! AHAHAHA!!.", with that the shadow dissolved into the night air, while the workers struggled to free themselves of their magnetic prison. After about ten minutes of struggling most of them gave up trying and accepted their soon to be dimise and waited for Death to take them home...
The Effluvium Reator exploded sometime late that night, leveling the whole complex and killing those inside.

A year after the incident, side effects began appearing throughout Terraia. A deep, translucent blue miasma began arising in the twillight of dusk to corrode the environment and mutate the wildlife into demonic blood thirsty monsters. As every day passed the miasma and twilight grew until every day was pure twilight. This event became to be known as The Great Corrosion. Not all of the mutations the miasma induced were harmful though. Ten percent of the humans exposed to the miasma gained new abilities, ranging from super strength to various forms of kineticism. Eventually the human government, fearing that these developments would only destroy, put up energy domes around the major cities to "protect" the citizens and prevent further corrosion. Yet some of the population decided that, after the Effluvium Plant exploded, the government couldn't protect them, so they wnt out into the wasteland (now known as Fate's Ashes) that was once known as the worlds ecosystem.

Centuries later the government started up a project to infuse soldiers with miasma in order to create super soldiers that could counter the ferocious demons that attacked the supply trains on their bi-monthly trek. The first human to undergo this experiment was a young boy that was abducted from one of the settlements in Fate's Ashes. The result was beyond their wildest dreams! This new soldier had the strength of an ant, the speed of a cheetah, and the senses of a spider. Plus, since he was raised in the miasma, his innate ability to control magnetish was greatly enhanced. One day during a training skirmish, the boy's anger got the best of him and a new change, brought on by his miasma filled veins, occured. His eyes ignited with a golden flame and his hair changed to a blood-red color, All of his abilities were magnified threefold, and in a wisp of sound the forty soldiers that were sparing with him were reduced to little shredded pieces of meat. The boy collapsed soon after, and the project was terminated. What became of the boy is still shrouded in mystery...
