View Full Version : Need help with emulation... Yes, yet again.

Right... As some people here may know, I've been ripping sprites from Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow lately. The catch is that I need palettes to rip sprites, and the only way to get them I know is by taking screenshots - and for that, I need an emulator that can run that game.
No$GBA seems to be pretty fitting for that, but there is one problem. I'm not able to save.
To be exact, when I try to save, this is what I get:
11160
Does anyone know how to fix this? If it helps, these are my emulation settings:
11161
Thanks in advance.

Screw with the NDS Cartridge Backup Media, try another option under it.

I tried it, and at first I failed, but then I realized that I need to reset the cartridge before the change REALLY takes place, and now it works with EEPROM 64KBytes.
Thanks a lot!

I just can't go a few days without having another emulation problem, can I?
This time, my problem is a glitch during the game. A glitch that makes Malphas unbeatable. What I mean that after I beat him, I need to draw the magic seal - but that part seems to be glitched somehow, as I can draw and draw, and that thing just doesn't react. I know it's a glitch because I can also draw everywhere and as long as I want, despite the fact that the seal usually breaks if I do a wrong movement in the game.
So I guess that makes Malphas unbeatable. And you need him to get the double jump... And you need the double jump to proceed in the game, which you need to do if you want palettes from the game.
Now, there's three possibilities.
1. Fix the glitch, or somehow go around it, or whatever.
I doubt that is possible.
2. Get a savestate after Malphas or at the end of the game.
I found some saves on GameFAQs (http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/save/922145.html), but I don't know how to use them with No$GBA... Does anyone know that?
3. Simply use cheats to get his soul.
I found a list of Action Replay codes Here (http://us.codejunkies.com/search/cheat_codes.aspx?selp=17&game=Castlevania%3a+Dawn+of+Sorrow&platval=17&platform=Nintendo+DS&gameID=17825852), but again, I failed to use them. Does anyone know how to implement them?
Argh, I feel friggin' helpless. It's like I can't get around any problems with sprite ripping on my own :P
I'd say option 2.
This should work (at least, for the third savefile on GameFAQs, didn't test the others):
- Download the desired save file.
- Convert it to SuperCard CF-format using this (http://www.shunyweb.info/convert.php) site.
- Back up your own savefile, just to be sure (in the BATTERY-folder. simply renaming the file will do the trick)
- copy the converted savefile into the BATTERY-folder, and make sure its name is the same as the name of the game
- open the file NO$GBA.INI, and change 'SAV/SNA File Format == Compressed' into 'SAV/SNA File Format == Raw' (line 46) (without 's, obviously), and save the file
- Run NO$GBA, open the game, and it should recognize the save.

It - it worked!
Thank you. Now I can finally continue ripping stuff from that game. :D
