Phuck conceptual art (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Phuck-conceptual-art/)

In case the formentioned link doesn't give you the full deal, conceptualist art basically centres around the idea being more important than the process itself. Whilst it sounds like a neat idea at first, it is more often than not a case of taking everyday objects, such as a mouldy bit of cheese, to present as the final piece of art and for those familier with comtemporary arts and music it just seems to give people an excuse to get away with what is commonly deemed as daft shat. Yes like you're really being awesome by doing a job non-artist folk do every day. Even Marcel Duchamp said he was taking the piss when he took a toilet and said it was a sculpture of a fountain.

And sadly this prentious bullshit is ruling the artworld as we speak, and further annoying is how i'm generally not gonna get a good grade at uni unless i pour baked beans over this laptop that i'm typing on and pass it off as a Wallaby. Us hardworking painters (or generic illustrators as they call us, art teachers aren't big on pen and ink and whatnot) just don't get a look in.

Thankfully my day has been made after browsing phuck conceptualism upon knowing that the flame of justice still burns bright, and romanticist surrealists (like me i guess) can still strike lucky.

Sadly, all things considered, anyone getting filthy rich from making copy-and-past-from-games sprite comics here are my mortal enemies.

If you feel this thread is better off in the art section mods be my guest.

I agree wholeheartedly with BS.

Who was that bitch who tried to pass off her tent as art?
Or worse yet, the waste of food who bought a bed, slept in it, and then made $TOO MUCH selling it.

The modern art scene is farsical at best.
Why do we allow these people to fucking breathe?!
Gaga- You're an art student aren't you? I plead, and PRAY, that you dont have to deal with some of these idealistic cretins.

Yeah alot of my friends who are doing art get pretty pissy over this (and let's face, which sane person wouldn't?) they want to abolition and do away with these sorts of things and I hope many other artist do.

If memory serves Gagaman is on an animation course, and when swapping words he certainly doesn't get the bullshit i get.

Although it does depend a bit on what tutors i get. But for those who know my animation that i did, when the second year starts i'll have a tricky time trying to contextualise it.

I'll show a link to our group's site where my job was to mock contextual art.

I'm not gonna pretend to understand art (music, booze, and yelling at people was my education) but I know full well what bullshit is, and what bullshit serious artists tollerate at the hands of these cretins.
I want to club them to death with my Giger books :p

For example-
Metallica's albums Load and Reload
'Interesting album art.'
'Yeah, they paid some guy MILLIONS to take a photo of a mixture of his blood and cum'
'ART!'

You are right, people are taking advantage of an art form that barely passes as art, i'd much rather pay an unearthly sum of money for an oil painting of some description than for a picture of a rotting pear.

Agreed.

I read an article( Im really sorry, I don't remember anymore where i read it)from a page, where the topic was "An Artist Killed Himself Because Of His "Hands"". That topic was talking about **year-old man, who was paid to open a cat's stomach and draw a painting of it. After that, the artist took a look of his painting...

I don't think that counts as conceptualism. It's macabre to be sure, but at the end of the day people got better at drawing people during the 16th century renaissance age from dissecting the recently deceased. No real biggee. Plus that artist sounds like a twat killing himself.

Anyway i did get round to uploading those presentation drawings that we did for our, uh, presentation. Whilst i'm moving away from anime, it was nice from my perspective to see this as an opportunity to take the piss out of contextual art.

So in this story me and my two buddies James and Yuki (James being the leader) where we go about our daily adventures and fight off the conceptikons who led by emporer Barku fly around in a shed unleashing the shark men to wreak visual havoc.
