View Full Version : Un-CD?
Question, how do I make games that require a CD to run to be able to run without a CD? I've seen a friend install his copy of AOM, then did something, then he doesn't need the disc to play anymore. Not long after I lost contact with him, I wanted to make my disc games discless too. Can someone help me here?
Use a prog like Alcohol 120%, convert the CD to ISO, download Daemon Tools, and mount the ISO.
Or create a window image.
I don't know exactly, but I thought there was an easier way. I used it with GTA once.
I believe you had to open he CD (not start playing), copy the game file on it, and put it in the older where the game was installed. But it was a while ago since I did that. I don't know for sure.
Or just use a crack.
Trust me, using the ISO is way storage taxing than using a cracked program.
Namely, this cracks have to be from a more trustable source like gamecopyworld or gameburnworld.

I think that's how he did it. He opened the CD and copied something. But what game file? Is it the actual .exe?
No clue. Like I said, it was done a long time ago. However, if there's an .EXE file on the cd, I think that's the one. I believe you must replace it with your other .EXE file, but before you do that, get some advice from someone else. I'm not sure, that's why.
Some games only check for a file in the CD to verify it's still there.
Starcraft: Broodwar for example, you can copy a 2mb "install.exe" file from the cd into the computer and you will be able to play it fine, however you cannot play the campaigns and such as that data is stored on the cd.
Usually just googling something like "[Game name] NO-CD crack/patch" will work.
In some games, there's "Install" and "Full Install."
Full Install allows you to play your game without the CD.
But in my case, most of my games don't have full install, and even if they have, I still required the CD. Except C&C first Decade. I love that game. >.> Or rather, that collection.
Cracks the way to go.
