Wanting to create a Megaman game, but need help

Hello everyone, I'm new around here. I've got a question.

I've always wanted to make a fan game with megaman and I tried making an engine myself one day in Multimedia Fusion. Needless to say, it was terrible.

So, I've gotten a new sparked interest in making fan games, and was wondering, could anyone please help me get off my feet so I could make this game?

My main deal is getting Megaman up and running, and if there's a better program than Multimedia Fusion 2 out, please tell me.

Please don't make a thread until you're actually making the game. (http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=2707) It clutters up the forum and stuff, and there's no reason to have a thread unless it's a sure thing that your game is actually going to be made; 99% of these threads end up with fifty pages of sprites and nothing else, it seems, and I'd rather not push down the games that are actually being made until I know your game, erm, is being made. XD Sorry if it seems harsh, but the rule's there for a reason. Anyway, PM me/start a new thread when you're more confident.
