View Full Version : The Future of Comics
The history of internet comics is long, but we only passed two stages of it! With the invention of the scanner, hand drawn comics was sweeping the interscape. But Bob and George changed the history of web comics forever! But, it seems like we're entering a new age of comics! The question is, if we're breaking new ground, or goin' back to the start!
Uhm, doesn't this belong in smeg head or spudnik?
Tatsuya Ishidia, Ryan North, Natalie Dee, Jeffery Brown, Scott Pilgrim, Drawn and Quarterly and many more are making comics a better art form.
I don't think Bob & George can be considered to have 'changed the history of web comics forever' somehow. If it did, it just led to there being millions of sprite comics starring megaman re-colours that people other than Megaman fans couldn't give a stuff about. At least make your own sprites so it looks like you did more than just paste things, you know?

Technically Bob and George did change history, for exactly the reasons you mentioned Gaga :p
You know what, he's right! Without them, sprite comics probably wouldn't exist!

Which is an nessecery evil. Just think Perks - without sprite comics - several of your favourite comics wouldn't exist either! (Pixel art comics are still sprite comics. :p)
In fact, Sprites INC. might have never existed! (shudders) That's a scary thought!!

Yeah, but is it something to be proud of? That's like if all cartoons started to look like South Park (in some cases, they already do look like South Park). As funny as the writing is, if all cartoons used that technique it'd be rather boring and lazy. I'm already tried of this anime-style fad that still seems to be thodding along, and we don't need anmore cartoonsabout Ninjas/kung-fu!

Well, they would most likely still excist, only they would be done another way, like with clip art, or hand drawn. You work with what you get (or can be bothered to use, in some cases)
Where did this 'New Age of comics' thing come from , anyway? I haven't noticed a whole lot different recently.

Not exactly. Sprites Inc would have instead become the one-stop site for Megaman fan-games.

True. Or a stupid for... uh I mean a Forte fan center, yeah!

It's comin'. You'll see!
I hope it doesn't involve everything becoming Manga-styled (don't look at me like that), or everything being done with template images used over and over again, or stuff that uses nothing but internet anagrams as dialogue.
Oh wait, that's a whole lot of web comics already. Oops.

Perhaps the next "New Age" is the more widely use of machinma for comics.
We won't know until it comes!
