View Full Version : MMX Collection for DS-Wouldn't it be awesome?

Wouldn't Megaman X Collection for DS work really well? After all, the DS has the four buttons and two triggers you would need. Plus, you could probably change weapons off the touch screen, so the triggers could be for Giga Attacks. Definitely awesome. -BTW, the triggers are the L and R buttons.-

No. No DS cartridge could possibly hold 7 games in one. Minigames, I understand, but those are TINY. We're talking about 7 FULL SIZE, FULLY PROGRAMMED games. Not possible.
As a side note, do you like making all these topics to piss people off?
And that the screen is REALLY small.
One would be blinded to play X8. On the DS.

At least the first three ported to the DS would be a good idea. And they should be able to fit the first three on one DS cart.

Or they could make a sort of deal. Wear they give you two cartridges in one box holding games from X1-X6. Also if they can two extra games.

But I don't think that... *runs size calculations in his head* Actually it could work. As for the two extras... Xtreme 1 & 2!!!

X1-5 were virtually smaller than you'd think they were.
Ever notice how they could program Metroid Prime into a DS?
They could so easily shove five 32-Bit games into one cartrige as well.
(EDIT)-And I would totally buy it too!!
Eh, I wouldn't buy one collection with 5 games and another with two. I think it would better like this:
Collection 1: X1-X3 & Power Battles
Collection 2: X4-X6 & Power Fighters
And maybe make a collection BEFORE those with MegaMan 1-8 along MegaMan & Bass or Battle and Chase. A nice trilogy.

They need to put Xtreme somwhere too.
Eh, don't want to over do it, right? :P

Hell, they should just throw every current MM series game that exists for the old systems, and throw them into a huge compilation.
Actually. Xtreme was one of the best side series that accompanied X series.
(IMO-even better than CmX and MhX was to the X series)
Also, they're about 10x smaller than the others. It'd fit so much easier.

Yeah. And they had the coolest one-off characters.
Actually (not don't lame me for this) a PSP remake would be great! All necessary buttons, better backlight, bigger screen, and I'm sure a UMD could easily fit quite a few games on and run smoothly. So:
Collection 1: MegaMan 1-8, MegaMan I-V GB (colored), & MegaMan and Bass
Collection 2: MegaMan X 1-6 & Xtreme 1-2 (enhanced graphics)
Collection 3: MegaMan Power Battles, Battle Fighters, Battle and Chase, & Battle & Fighters (enhanced graphics)
There: Classic Memories, X Saga, and Arcade Favorites.
Yeah, that was a sad, sad day for me when I heard it died. :(
I saw an article that said Inafune wanted another Legends as well, so you might get one! I'll try to find it, but I don't remember where it was...
Hidden Fun Stuff

Actually, it seems Inafune is getting mostly ignored these days. X6 was made without his permission/backing, IIRC.

Aero- Battle & Chase was a PS1 game
I'm not a PSP fan, I don't even like sony, but it's a good idea Aero. But capcom needs to make MMLCollection before they make portable collections
Yeah, it sucked losing the GBA collection
Um...I've already said this before...but I guess I'll repeat the statement:
Keji Inafune hates being the Mm showboy to all of us fans.
All he wants to do, is to go back to programming Mm games again.
He really loved the Legends series, and wants to make a third one.
But Capcom won't let him create a third, which makes all of us fans sad.
DAMMIT CAPCOM!! WHY THE HELL CAN'T YOU LET HIM DO IT!?!
You won'te even let him program anything anymore, why not do this!?
(EDIT)-And yeah. Keji had no involvment with X6 untill it was released.
That's why out of all the X1-6 games 6 sucked the worst.
Why Capcom??!??! Why?????
First off X1-5 didn't suck, only six did. Second legends 3 won't be made because of a business point of view. Finally the only portable collection I'd like to see is Legends
First, he said OUT OF X-X6, X6 sucked, and second, where is this info coming from? There seems to be quite a few MML fans on this one forum alone.
Cause Capcom officials are dicks.
Joking.
I think that while the DS has sufficient size for the games, the screen size is too small to play X4~8.
And for the rest, just a emu on the DS works. >.>

Nope. More than two PSX-games would never fit onto a DS-cartridge. (A normal one, anyway) You know how many sprites, for example, each PSX-game has? Probably even more than MMZX. Also, counting the fact that PSX-X-sprites are bigger...
Then we also have programming, music, videos, background tiles and other stuff. I'd say one PSX-game on a normal game cartridge would go. But never more than two. And buying those special, huge cartridges is very, VERY expensive compared to normal ones - that means that they'd be shooting themselves in their foot, because honestly, only fans would by that game. ONLY fans. And even not all of them.
Creating such a collection would be stupidy at it's finest from Capcom's point of view.
A Legends 3 would probably get good sales in America/Europe. So that's a possibility. I guess in Japan Legends doesn't seem to be liked that much.
Now that I think about it, the only thing that REALLY sucked about X6 was the stage design - which was very irritating. I bet if someone copied X6 1:1, but then changed the stage design to a better one, we'd enjoy it at least three times as much.
(Of course, there's also smaller problems like Zero's up+saber attack in air, but that only adds to the above.)
'Kay then, but it still doesn't mean that they couldn't just remake the Xtremes.
Oh, and I know of Pirate copy Xtremes that people programed X1-X5 into.
It would actually be so easy to convert all X1-6 games into Xtreme style.
Then, with their tiny filesize, put them all onto a DS cartrige.
I know of a bad hackjob of RmX3 made by the Chinese.
And when younger, I'd also seen a X4-5 in Xtreme style made in Turkey.
(I still kick myself every morning for not buying it when I was little)
I didn't realise how important that pirate was untill it was too late. (TnT)

The Xtreme-games aren't much more than remakes of the first three games with a new plot.
Oh, and I know of Pirate copy Xtremes that people programed X1-X5 into.
Source?
And that would make me hate myself for not having a DS even more.
Playing X7 on the DS would be fatal. For the DS.

You DO know that it's likely that it was just MMXtreme put five times onto one cartridge, or five unrelated games that got printed MMX on them?
You DO know that it's likely that it was just MMXtreme put five times onto one cartridge, or five unrelated games that got printed MMX on them? No, because the store owners let me play it in the store.
I remember getting Model ShadowArmorX on it.
My Dad told me not to buy it, because the storage space probably sucked.
So I didn't.
It was a week later I decided to go back and get it, and it could not be found.
I've hated myself ever since for not buying it when I was little.
I remember going to elementary school the next day heart broken.
It was the best pirate copies I'd ever seen. I wish I'd just bought it. (TnT)
I was very young, so I trusted my Dad. (who didn't know that much)
Gah. It was possibly just the first stage. Did you ask the shop owner about the source of the game?
Yeah, that's the X3 game I mentioned earlier by the Chinese.
I actually got that game, and it sucked. But for a pirate copy, it was okay.
The ones I was talking about in Turkey though, were the most awesome!!
(EDIT)-I also know in Gauntlet's list it says 'MegaManX-99'.
That might or might not be the one I used to play when I was little.
Re-read my edited post.
X8 on DS = LOL.
Gah. It was possibly just the first stage. Did you ask the shop owner about the source of the game?I didn't ask the source.
I was very little.
All I know is that Turkish pirate copy dealers are the kindest salesmen around.
They're even better than those that sell original products.
They aren't the type to lie to a Turkish boy.
Therefore, all I know was that the games were in full.
As for the source, they don't give that info out.
It's to protect themselves from the police.
(EDIT)-BTW-These guys are so kind they pull out chairs for you to sit on, hand you the GameBoy, put the game in themselves, and when battery power becomes low they're the ones that change the batteries to new ones!!
Then, they offer you a cold drink as you play!! They're the best.
>.<
I should have been born somewhere else...
SG sales people either give you the "Buy it and fuck off" or "Can you afford it" look.

Still, it was probably much different. Some game with changed appearance and texts. All possible.
Even if a professional programmer re-made them into Xtreme-style, it would still be a completely different game gameplaywise, if you consider the technical possibilities of the Gameboy compared to the PSX.
(Not only talking about graphics. But I could never imagine a gameboy displaying the first battle against Eregion in Sky Lagoon Area 1 correctly, gamplaywise.)
So it would be better if they just made some new games instead. Maybe that would also attract some new players - I'm certain a remake wouldn't.
Particulary a remake that is toned down compared to the original.
I know. Here's the rank of Pirate Copy Dealers:
1.Japan (duh, they make the originals first, then the pirates)
2.Korea (just because they're so @#$%ing close to Japan..)
3.Turkey (we are the most hospitable dealers and sellers...)
As you can see, we're in third place because of how kind our merchants are.
(trust me, I have several Korean friends, so my sources are more accurate)
You can get any PC, XBox, Wii, or Ps1-2 game pirate for $1-5.
Then, any GameBoy-DS game pirate for $15-20.
I love Turkey's BlackMarket. Did you know there's an entire city dedicated to these pirates? I live close to a city called Kadikoy (Speed' knows) and it is entirely based off of shops that sell pirate copies and other things too.
It's the best. I just wished I'd bought that game. (TnT)
It was as if God gave me an opportunity of a lifetime, and I blew him off.
(EDIT)-@Terry': Who cares about accuracy!? It was still fun to play!!
The Eregion battle scene would be horrendous.
A remake would be better, but please, something like MHX, Or MMPU.
The Eregion battle scene would be horrendous.
A remake would be better, but please, something like MHX, Or MMPU.That would make much more sense, but only one game per cartrige would fit.
We were thinking about collections that we could play. Not single games.

We already ruled out collections for the DS, so the only thing we can dream about are remakes.
I'd like to see X4 in 3D, personally. and, of course, a remake of X6.
Xterra: What's that about advertising for the Turkish black market? You DO know that the black market is a bad thing?
I found a shop that sold 100% Pirate games in Singapore. The horror. >.>
Xterra: What's that about advertising for the Turkish black market? You DO know that the black market is a bad thing?Nope.
It's good for me, because I buy both the original, and the pirates.
@Ricky: A shop!? Remember what I said about a city!?
Being that Singapore is a very strongly ANTI PIRACY country, a shop was horrific. (Terrific for me. Whoops.)
For me it'd be a haven. Could you go there again? See if they have the game?
It sold games for the PC. Or R4 cards. Whatever tickles your fancies except the REAL PIRATE GAMES. Sometimes I feel I was born in the wrong place...

Well, I don't think Capcom will release an X series collection AGAIN.
First of all, releasing it on the DS would be a bad idea if they didn't make use of the 2 screens, mic, or touch screen. The better handheld for a collection like that would be the PSP. (It's probably go more space on it anyhow).
Now if Capcom was going to release a collection on the DS, it would probably be the Gameboy Megaman games, and possibly graphically enhansed Xtreme games. Weather or not they'd take advantage of the DS's capabilities, I don't know. (I wouldn't bank on it to be honest...)
But let's say that Capcom DID port the X games on the DS. If Capcom didn't redraw the sprites, then you'd get what happened to the Sonic 1 Port on the GBA. The graphics where just too big to work effectively on a small screen, and that hindered the game from being as fun as it was.
Touch screen could be an always open menu.
Easy weapon switching ftw.
I demand another Xtreme on DS! But the topic has been spiralling out of topic via Xterra, me, and Terry.

The Japanese players would have brutally raped capcom. If that really happens.

Personally, another great thing would be Megaman Maverick Hunter X2 for the DS. That way Capcom could make even more money off remakes, and us DS owners won't feel left out. Megaman Powered Up 2 would also be awesome. P.S: Great Idea! Remakes of Megaman Battle Network 1 and Megaman Zero 1 for DS!
..yeah..theyre gunna have to start remaking BN/Zero soon...*Cringe*
Terry von Feledae
31-08-07, 16:10
Note that the DS can't display as pretty 3D-graphics as the PSP. But I guess it's still better to have a game with somewhat worse graphics than it's prequel than having a game that almost nobody will buy.
Remakes of BN1 and ZERO are a bad idea, as they are still really young games. It would, again, not give Capcom any new sales, and the DS-version would be almost depressingly similar to the GBA-one.(Counts mostly for ZERO)

Oy, I live an hour away from the nearest wal-mart or EB games. The only way to get video games here is a pawn shop. Pirates are practically a myth here. Meh, at least we have good skiing. Anyway, it would be awesome to get 3D remakes of all the old MM games. Oh, and Xterra just gave me a cool idea.
Touch screen could be an always open menu.
Easy weapon switching ftw.
That's what the L and R buttons are for in most MegaMan games. I'd find it quite hindering to take my hand off one set of buttons, take out the Stylus, bring it down to the screen, and touch a weapon, only to find I accidentally touched the wrong one, when I could just as easily switch between weapons with L and R while actually fighting.

Except 4-6 have the Giga Crush which at least in the PSX versions is defaulted to R2.
I think 5 and 6 did, but I know 4 does.
True...In Xtreme, though, it was a gauge that slowly filled up as you got hurt, and worked like a normal weapon when it was fired.
That might work.

That's because that one was based on X2's. And that wouldn't work because of how Zero plays, his special weapon button is used for most of his specials.
