The Bullet hell genre. take a scrolling shooter, remove the hundreds of enemies and powerups and replace it with, well, a million trillion bullets. I thought Mars Matrix and Gigawing 2 were hardcore until I discovered this doujin PC series, that is developed by ONE person, and has something of a cult in Japan. Watch the clipcs that first link has. Eye-bleedingly beautiful. Surely this is prooth that gaming is an artform :g-nosebleed:

Alright, lay off everyone. Not everyone agrees with the same thing. Theres fuckloads of stuff everyone else likes thatp I think is utter crap, (and, no, im not talking about average gamers, chavs or who-ever else, I mean people who are into gaming) and visa versa.

Now to be just as annoying - Personally - i've played these types of game several times, and my opinon? They're pointless seziure inducers. It's a genre im not into, they don't count as a game at all to me. It's no artform, its a lazy idea that just got popular. (How many times has that happened?)

I'm probably biased in my impatience for those with the lack of English knowledge but I know a Brazillian kid who lives near my mum's place. He hasn't had a day of education, and he speaks English as a third language. And yet he can type better than Bloodzero!

Meh, not much point going back on topic when no one gives a monkeys anyways. Maybe I should talk about First Person shooters more, or RPGs, except I couldn't give a stuff about those. (except Segagaga, mainly bcause it has a scrolling shooter level at the end where you take on Sega's consoles one-by-one. HELLS YEAHS.)

You know, dodging hundreds of bullets is not much different from trying to walk through a level where the baddies constantly fly into you no matter where you are on the screen/shoot bullets that always hit you no matter where you are on the screen/blow up and hit you with shards of metal that seem to home into you. But I won't talk about that anymore as it's off-topic ;p

Personally I only like Bullet Hell games if they give you more than just your dodging skills to avoid the bullets. being able to suck in all the bullets and spit them back at the enemy in GigaWing 2 is hella fun. By "art form" I'm more referring to how the visuals look rather than the gameplay,as bullet hell games, were it not for the random anime characters popping up, look like something from an abstract arty animation.

Jesus H Christ, I just got home from a mind melting night of Mars Matrix. I've never heald a Dreamcast controller untill like 10 hours ago, and I've played the game so much it's dangerous. Mars Matrix is good becuase it has a system of catching the enemy bullets and flinging them back at the enemy, does Bullet Hell do anything like that? (Really, I don't know)

Gigawing arrived today, and dispite the SNES quality sprites, it is actually really rockin'. It's harder to get into the 'giga' digits than in the sequel, but it's also got more levels and the music is pure retro. Oh, and one of the characters you play as in a Nun. A Nun in a super-powered plane blowing shit up for world peace. OH YES.

Going to the studio tonight. The only games on the PC there are old beat em ups, bullet hell games, and RIDICULOUSLY difficult rythem games.
