Like it says, how do you advance in the stages of a classic/X megaman game, AFTER you've got at least one usefull weapon.

This thread was inspired when i asked myslef if others DID use boss weapons in stages. Because I NEVER do that, unless I have no choice.

Most of that post wasn't needed anymore anyay... -Terry

[edit] Oh, dang it. I meant to post a poll with this thread, but forgot to check the box. I'll just list the otions here, or a mod can lock this and I make a new thread for this.

Or ask a mod/admin to add a poll. :p

Well, I almost never use weapons. Reason? Weapon energy. In the games, you just run out of it to fast. Exemptions are MM2 and MMX. MM2 because the Metal blade and the menu-trick, and MMX because the MMX-weapons are far too useful for not being used. In particular Homing Torpedo, Rolling Shield and Chameleon Sting.
In X4, even if I have the head-upgrade(So I don't have to worry about WE), the weapons suck to much so I don't use them. In X4, the Plasma Shot is all you really need, besides a few bosses.

Actually, I dont use the weapons at all. I may use them for fun on the way, torturing an enemy. But for X8 in certain parts, its a 100% needed to go through.

I never use it except in X8 cause you can use Axl's weapons without using weapon energy.

Actually, X8 requires you to use them special weapons to get to few of the capsules.

In the classic series the only weapons i used in a level are :
MM1 - Fire storm- itīs the usefulest weapon in MM1 (strong shot and a fire shield)
MM2 - Metal blade- It doesnīt use many energy and it can shot in all directions
Other Megaman Classic games have uselles weapons
and itīs more fun not to use boss weapons
I only use them when i must............

Erm blackhook? Improve on your spelling and grammar.

I forgot to mention the weapon you get from optic sunflower.
Pwetty flowerworks!

Well, I'll state my use to then (would be rather stupid if I didn't eh?)
I mostly don't use weapons at all, unless I really need to. But I avoid it as much as possible, and mostly the possibily doesn't even cross my mind. It really helps while you were killed, and already shot most of your weapon in the fight before. You can always resort to other weaknesses, like shadow blade and hard knuckle.

[edit] yes, Optic sunflower has the best weapon. Either fireworks(X), either multiple foreworks (charged), either a cool energy blast (Zero), or a limitless laser (Axl).

The only weapon I actually found useful in Megaman x is storm egale's because it can kill any of the non-sheilded multihit enemy's in one hit, other than that the only other weapons I used were the time stop weapons inorder to avoid the annoying one hit kill laser. mm2 quickman level, mm7 turboman level

I use some weapons... very sparingly...
usually if it's a weapon that I've forgotten what it does, or it's new to me, etc, I'll try it out once I get it.
But I reserve most of my weapon energy for the boss... to test to see which weapon I have works best.

I save what I need for the boss (because I'll pretty much have it memorized) and use what I don't on enemies. Unless I'm trying to challenge myself, which I do quite often.

I try to use weapons as less as possible, and only save them for REALLY desperate occasions.

I hardly ever pay attention to the fact that I have special weapons at all. Granted, I use them when I absolutely feel I need them, but even then I have to be in a really tough spot. Or I'm just in a hurry.

I am reminded, however, of a little "challenge" my brother gave me for the classic and X-series games to spice them up a bit -- going through the game using only special weapons (only using the uncharged (where applicable) Mega/X Buster when all weapon energy is depleted). I think I managed to beat Mega Man 4 like that.

When I acquire a new weapon from a boss, I don't use it until I arrive at the boss room. If I have two or more, I'll use the ones that I don't plan to use for the boss.

Come to think of it. I've never used a single freaking special weapon after X5... X8 had a few nook and nannies that required them.

If I remember correctly all the special weapons just get a new name and appearence in the latter games, each one has a fire weapon, ice weapon, electric weapon, wind weapon, ...; I think you get what I mean so the only point of them is making the bosses easier.

The only special weapon I used in megaman 3 and higher was the rush jet item.

I actually like using them against bosses. Oh, and while at the first sight they all look the same, if you get used to them, you'll see that alot of them are a little different. Shields per example, all have a little different trait.
