Here talk about past gigs, and upcoming gigs.
Went to see Mortiis last night. [Mortiis is a Norwegien industrial gothic racket mongerer who used to dress up like a troll and make THOROUGHLY nerdy ambient synth music. Then he started dressing less ridiculous and made industrial rock]
Amazing gig, he was REALLY hyper, his voice was great, and they managed to make all the heavy songs heavier, and all the quiet songs heavy as fuck.
I saw him at Satans Hollow [former Hells Angel club. Now frequented by emo scum! :(] which has a circular stage. So we were alllllll up and close to him while his stage show consisted of
- Climb on that
- Swing on that
- Grab that guy over there
- Yell in his face
- Yell in her face
- Beat the shit out of his microphone stand [the roadie had to run on to fix the base like....sixteen thousand times]
- Throw bottle of water over there
- Throw seven more bottles of water over there
- Swing on that
- Jump on that
- Repeat
He played all but two songs I wanted, but he played tons of his best shit, and some new stuff, so it's cool.
AND while waiting for Kirt to come out of the bogs after, I bumped into him and got myself a hug and a handshake and a fake punch in the chest.
"Cheers for coming."
And then he was out of my life :(
I'm in love with a norwegien stud who used to go round with black metal bands in the nineties setting fire to churches.
Cons of the gig- The opening two bands were among the most awful bands I had ever seen. Why are Goth Metal [yeah. it's a genre] bands so crap?
- The amount of goth kids who came for the first two bands
- My dad said he'll pick me up, to save taxi money. We arranged to meet at the MEN arena as it's a landmark and impossible to miss, and near the main road. Unfortunately there had been a My Chemical Romance gig. Which resulted in A) Mass traffic B) EMO EXODUS!
Christ, I've never been surrounded by so much nail varnish, chuck taylors, and bad haircuts. [Not even the goths who came for Mortiis' support acts came close] I needed 4 baths just to feel dirty!
pros of the gig- Mortiis
- CHEAP BEER
- CHEAP SHIT AT SHOP
- HOUSE OF THE DEAD!
- HOLY SHIT GOTH GIRLS WITH AWESOME HAIR, HUGE TITS, AND LITTLE CLOTHING!
- We were worried that when Mortiis came on, even more goths would come. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the Mortiis crowd consisted of standard issue metal fans, and tons of grownups. I had a very nice conversation with a 29 year old woman and her husband about Gary Numan and Mortiis :p
So, that was my first proper gig of the year, save for local bands.
I'm also going to see Down on the 28th of May.
Annnnd I have no idea if this is happening, but someone told me Enslaved/Zyklon and one of my fave bands, 1349, are playing in September.
NOW YOU!
