For myself

1- Younha, yeah Korean singer who sings mostly japanese music...
She sings like a godess
2- BoA, yeah I totally love her face...and she sings like a godess too :)

2- Mariah Carey. She is a beautiful talented singer.

Well, I kinda have a tie for fav. girl artists. They are:

Utada Hikaru. She just sounds awesome!
Amy Lee from Evanescence. Also sounds awesome and is INCREADIBLY HOT to boot!

Sorry, I don't know any Japanese female vocalists that I listen to. Here's my favorite bands with female vocalists (and fuck the looks, really who the fuck should care):

I'd go with the lead singer from The Distillers, Brody Dalle. She's got a great voice for their style, I really wish I could mimic it. Great band, too.

Maybe second would be the vocalists from Eisley. There are two singers, both women, great music. It's very beautiful music, much different type than the Distillers. Both are great, of course.

There's also another band called Heartless Bastards which features a female vocalist. More of an alternative band, still can be great on occassion. She completes the sound for sure.

A band and an artist I like to hear occassionally is Frou Frou and Imogen Heap, as well. It's more similar to Eisley in the way that they really sing beautifully, but it's not Poppie bullshit with backup dancing. Real talent here, where it counts.

Hm... Yeah Utada And Nami are good.
But I still prefer Younha for her style of music.
She's playing piano and sings slows...and can go to Jpop-Rock which I love...

And I personally like BoA better than Utada and Nami :)
