First one is a sprite done for a friend. He drew a sketch of a really nice..something..and I made a sprite of it. It looked a lot better on the sketch. You can't really see the bottom one's details so I provided a bigger one. Sorry for the dark colors.
Second one is again for the same friend. It's one of how he portrays himself on our forum. Again, larger and smaller for details.
I'm a bit new at this, so tell me what you think and even tips.

Actually in my opinion you are on a pretty good start for being new at spriting, you should see other that are REALLY new at this. All i have to say is for the first one use color and shades that have more contrast between them. The second one it looks pretty good as i cant tell the base.

The first one's base is one of the bosses from EXE 3. I haven't played the game, so I don't know it's name, but it's the fire one. The second one is just Zero using one of his attacks.

Steel you actually have talent for a beginner. When another spriter cant tell the base of your new custom then it is good because that means you heavily edited a sprite and didn't get lazy.

For the first sprite it would be best if the resolution of the sprite was kept the same to conserve smoothness. In other words, the top of the sprite (rounded top) looks smoother than the rest of the sprite.

Yeah, I was having troubles with the back, it wasn't very appealing. Guess I forgot to fix the rest.
