hello i am new and i am just starting to sprite here is my collection for so far.
There reclors plus C+P,since this is you first try,I'll be leinet,
8-bit is a good way to start spriteing,simplest sprites out there. The best one up there is the Devilman (5th one to the left) but they all need work,But,there are 3-4 you need major work on.
Green Dustman-windman thing-Okay,looks to much like dust man,get rid of the vacume,and edit the face.
Orange prtoman sper dud-Oksy,change the main base (Prtoman) entirely,use someone else,besdes MM,Duo,and Bass.
Cutman-heatman blur dude-Okay,the base is too recongnziable,try editing or changing the outter base,too look diffrent.
Woodman W missle-Okay,this one,no offense,is thw worst,you need alot of editing,besides the missle,becuse,the base is completly obvious.

That is not shading. It is on the regular heatman sheet. It is just a darker color.

Okay, I agree with Roar; it's confusing me too. Some 8-Bit's have a small amount of shading, as far as I can see on Heatman.
It is to show that one side is facing the light and one side that is alone in the dark.
That is shading...
And wouter: not too bad, but like Rags said, you need to work on them more. The Medic one you made from the Cut/Heatman still needs more work. To make sure the sprite looks good, make sure to keep things consistant. If the box has a small amount of shade, put that same shade on the helmet.

Perfect. Keep working on 8-bit, then work your way to 16-bit. That's the best practice.
i am working on a 16 bit version here is my medic so far.
Looks okay, just needs a bigger helmet; it doesn't quite fit. But he does look a bit too much like Heatman; the 8-bit one didn't have so much detail, so that one looks a bit better. Edit the face and limbs a bit more, and it'll look great. Keep trying, wouter; spriting takes time and patience.

i never even made a good 8 bit one. i began from 24 bit.
anyways, about 8 bit medic: EXCELLENT.
16 bit: his head looks too large...
24-bit,wha,there is not 24 bit.
Anyways,it's okay.But,like Wornex said,8-bit dosen't have as much detail,unlike 16-bit,which your 16-bit MEdic looks too much like Heatman,change it pu aa littile.

No, it was better before. noe he looks like a football player. earlier he looked like a ninja, which is good.
2: the met should STAY an enemy, make some special costum enemy (make it 100% scratch) that will do like he suggested.
i don't know if i can make him total costum but the ninja thing is ok.

1. Make a half circle.
2. Make another smaller half circle below the first one that slightly overlaps into it.
3. Make two cirlces in the small half circle on the top right and top left.
4. Make a smaller circle in between and below the other ones.
5. Make two ovals below and left and right of the body.
6. Color it like a Met.
Sorry if the instructions were confusing. I can't do good instructions. But when you finish, you might have a custom sprite that looks something like a Met.
i tryed that on large scale(he is way to big)here ya go.he isn't shaded yet.

1. It has to be smaller
2. Don't actually use the circle and large paintbrushes. Draw it with the pencil, and then fix up the lines with a 1px brush. It needs to be more curvaceous(sp).

No, it's Kamikaze. Anyway, not quite. Have you looked at heatman.exe's attacks? He as one kinda like what Tuna said. Only he doesn't die cause his body is heavily armored.
what about,he retracks only his legs and when he slams the ground he fires a blast?

You could make it so after the lags retrack that a gun comes out the bottom
here it is ,including a blast.
here is his newest attack,the missile will fall and just before he hits the ground,he turns to megaman and will go in rapid mode(he will go much faster).

Make the arms and legs more like Medicineman and less like Gutsman.
i recoulered the shoulder so it looks more like the first version and i made tho hand/wrist line smoother i also gave his hand and feet more colour.

It's very bulky and boxy, and the arms are disproportionate. It's movements don't flow, either. I've certainly seen worse, though.
*update made the arms smaller and tryed to make him look less cubic
