Alright basically, what do you all think of games today? Try to take perhaps your last 5-10 games into question and voice what you feel about games now.

Basically, I reckon that the latest games spark a revolution in gaming as far as the sheer detail on some are concerned. Some are introducing new gameplay, some are introducing interesting spins on old game systems. However I do have concerns as far as perhaps originality and the worth of some of these games are concerned. For the latter point, I bought DESTORY ALL ALIENS! two days ago, and within about 7 hours of recieving it, i've completed the story part and have completed about 48% of the game. All I have to do is find a bunch of secrets hidden around and thats near enough the game done with. Now I bought it for £15 and i feel as though I've been cheated somewhat. Out of the last ten games I've bought only 3 have stood out as being so brilliant, I would have gladly paid their full prices, these games were:

Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana (Still playing and I got this about a week ago)
Call of Duty & Call of Duty United Offensive (almost done with the original, fast moving onto the expansion pack, had for about 2 weeks)
Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires (Got last week, and cannot see me putting it down much)

Other than that EVE online is the only thing other than these currently diverting my attention for a long enough period for me to feel that it was worthwhile parting with the price of what they were asking.

So whats the rest of your thoughts on this subject?

Games don't really change. Games are there to entertain you and release your ties from reality. The only difference between games is that some do that job better than others. It also depends on your personal tastes. Some like shooters, others like driving games. Then there are those who like Megaman...
My last few games have been of a good quality. I only buy games I know will be good.

Phoenix Wright: OBJECTION! Fantastic fun. With some very funny dialog and great characters, it's become one of my favorites games this year.
We Love Katamari: The PAL version of Katamari Damacy. Roll things up in a ball... what more can I say? Not much replay value though.
Guitar Hero: Oh come on! I still play this whenever I can. It's the gaming equivalent of chocolate. Felling a bit depressed? Get on the plastic guitar and feel like a god!

Hm...

SoulCalibur III PWNinated: Make your own character, as well as everything that they had in SCII, plus some extra stuff like shops and the Chronicles mode...

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness: Also PWNinated. 3d Castlevania. With SWORDS. The only beef I had with it was that Dracula wasn't too invlolved until the end...

MegaMan X8: Man... What was the last BAD game I played? Well, it sure wasn't this one.

New games have failed to excite me much for a few years now. I get more enjoyment out of newly disovered Dreamcast and retro games, to be honest. All these war/ganster/mafia/mob/thingy games don't interestme in the slightest. The Wii is just about the only thing to come along in a while to really interest me.
