This perticular sub-forum is for you to place your edits and customs. They won't be uploaded, but this place is for you to recieve comments, and what-not. I figured people would want a specific place to place sprites. So here it is.

Feel free to go mad and post stuff.
Few basic rules:

a) Do not post other people's customs.

This will be treated as copyright infringement and you will be warned as such.

b) Use the other forum for Sprite Rips.

c) No "basic 5 second photoshop recolours".
As in... this type of thing:
http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/ohnoes.gif
Please. No. Just.. no. Put some effort into it. And I swear.. if I see a Blue Zero...
Acceptable "Recolours" on the other hand.. are what I like to call "Enhancing detail". These are accpetable... altough I'm going to have to use a Non-Megaman example for this: (this also includes basic sprite editing example ;p )
http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/ohnoes2.gif
Altough if you are going to post stuff like that.. try to include the entire sheet of what you're enhancing, XP
Upping the shading of a sheet (eg the following: http://www.megaman-sprites.com/ohnoes3.gif is also deemed "appropriate".. again, try and include the entire sheet.

d) This Custom Sprites subforum is not limited to Megaman and Megaman edits. Be creative! If you need to use bases, find another set of characters to use as an base/edit!
As someone once said:
They aren't bad, but I'm still going to barf if I see another Megaman 7 base.
http://cosmic-hero.com/PukeWave.gif

e) As stated above - people prefer sheets/animations. But... depending on how much work you put into a single frame... i'm not going to mind posting of singular frames. Just make sure some effort is put into it damnit! :p

f) Specifically state whether the sheet is public domain or not. Public Domain generally means someone is allowed to use your edit/custom freely without credit.
If you want people to use your sheet, but want credit, state so.
If you don't want people to use your sheet at all.. state so.

g) Don't hi-jack other peoples threads. If you've got a sprite to show, make your own thread!
(Note, showing people constructive "change this" Sprites etc, or helping out a person isn't considered Hi-jacking. Thats considered being helpful. :) )

Ok? Sorted? Fine. Just don't ask for your custom to be put up on Sprites INC.

So to add, if you're doing recolors, don't call them "original" characters. They bug some people.

But recolours are all I'm good at!

"EEK! A GOD-AWFUL RECOLOR!". I agree on that.

Recoloring is one of the most basic skills. Of course we do not want to see them, but that is the logical starting point for learning how to sprite. Instead of insulting spriters for their recolors politly offer ideas for and encouragement towards more detailed edits.

As for MM7 bases, some of us spriters really like the style and use it.

We don't have a problem when people start with recolours. We have a problem when they say "ZOMG I"M AN UBER ORIGIONAL AND INCREDIBLE SPRITER!!!!111."

And as Kevin said, MM7 bases aren't bad, but we've seen so, so many of them. It can't hurt to try something new.

The wording of the rules and examples in this thread sound far different (read as "meaner") than that. I chimed in becuase Recoloring is in important skill to start with.
I'm fine with the removal of persons who act like that, but it is an extreme exageration that is not seen as often as the "I really don't care" and "Dave Anez gets to do it" attitudes, which can only be rectified with repetitive polite prodding.

If you want to see otehr bases, why don't you do it yourself?
I stay with MM7 becuase I honestly like the style.

Ok, I think you're really, really over reacting. The sole points of those rules are to say:

Recolours aren't origional sprites, nor are they editted or custom in any way and posting them on here wastes our time. And you know what? They aren't even really a starting place for learning how to sprite. It's not really a skill. Copy&Paste jobs are easy, but we allow them here because that's where people actually start spriting. If you colour in a colouring book, you didn't draw the pictures. This is the same thing, except the computer keeps it inside the lines for you.
And...
There are alot of megaman 7 based sprites! That's all! ACE is just saying that there are other styles out there, and it's good to experiment with them. If you stick with the same style your whole life, you'll only learn to sprite in that style.

And Favic, seriously, stop with the pointless, "LOL" posts.

Theres a difference between using the style as style, and using it as a base.
Your sprites don't resemble already existing Megaman characters.

And the point of it was was to say theres other styles out there. That's all.

In case it isn't clear, the Sprite section is for DISPLAYING your sprites. This section of the forum is NOT for cameos or getting submission for comics or games. (That last statement also applies to any contests you want to have...).

If you want to ask for sprites for a comic or game, then do so in your comic or game thread. (Or, you can even PM people and request them to give you sprites!)

Sadly, it seems this needs to be said:

You can NOT claim who can and can't sprite something.

This means that everyone can make a model A, B, C, X, Y and Z; everyone can make a Vile, Axl, Alia in MMX4 style; and everyone can make a Zero.EXE. You can all sprite the same characters, you just can't steal them.

You can't sprite someone's custom character with out their permission. If I make a Monkey Maverick character named "Feces Flinger" he's mine. That would make him my character, and you can't sprite him differently and call him your own. If you make a character named "SephiX Zero" he's your character, and I can't sprite him in a different style and call him my own.

If you make a character from the Megaman universe, or any character form any universe, you've got no exclusive rights to be the only one who sprites that character.

I don't know how clear I can make this...

(And if you've still got a problem with people spriting the same characters as you, then just do it better).

Thank you for clearing that up, BBD. Now I can sprite my own ZX Models! Yay!

At least now people won't always say that another person can't sprite the same copywritten character as them. >.<
