I hate myself for being the one to post this but there now is a Halo spin off a real time strategy Halo spin off called Halo Wars here is a link to the home page.

And yes in that one image there are about 100 master cheifs.

How the hell did you mange to find this?

Nope, normal UNSC soldiers.

You know, it might be good. Try not to automatically assume that this'll be terrible... besides, I actually like the Halo storyline (until Bungee made '2, anyway).

This actually might not be to bad the creators of Age Of Empires are making it.

@Zero- I was looking on http://rvb.roosterteeth.com/home.php reading some of the posts I missed.
@Metool- When I said Master Cheifs I meant Spartans and no they aren't UNSC soldiers in the video it specifically calls them Spartans.

Oh, I stand corrected. Still, it probably means they're covering the story in "The Fall of Reach," which was quite a good book (though reading it feels a bit (more like really) nerdy). There were origionally 75 spartans (I think), so you're still incorrect in the first post.

Then why's Master Chief's number 117

Rainbow Dash
28-09-06, 22:19
150 children were selected as possibilities. They only had the funding for half of that number. Eace child's life was determined by the flip of a coin.

We're getting off topic, so I'll just say this: It's a good book, even if you're not too fond of the game. Read it.

Edit: I obviously outposted you, tuckur...

Ha ha bitched. Sorry about that but Zero is right he is number 117.
Blargh outposted!

As a Halo fan, and someone with a slight like for RTS games, I'm quite looking forwards to this.
Pity that you wont be able to play it online without listening to hordes of pre-pubescent American teenagers, NOT SHUTTING THE HELL UP WHILE I'M TRYING TO SHOOT PEOPLE.

(I have a love/hate affair with playing Halo online :p)

Yeah. That's why I'm glad that I don't play online.

Well, it's quite easy to play with the communications turned off so you dont have to listen to people, but yeah.

It's REALLY fun online, and really chaotic.
You will occasionally get the one cock trying to ruin it for people (and the cocks who argue with eachother) ("nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub nub") but there's a colossal satisfaction in fucking complete strangers up with big weapons.

And like a man with a sore tooth who can't help but touch it, sometimes I like listening to idiots sound stupid and be completely unaware of why I'm laughing at them.

What really makes it worth playing, for me, is playing with other cynical assholes who hate all the idiots.

"They're swarming with needlers."
"That's not fair! All we have IS A TANK."
(BAM)
"WANKERS!"

Me: That fucking prick keeps calling us shit. Ignoring his obvious advantage. What with the fact that HE'S IN A PLANE.
Chris: GET HIM!

Me: SWEAR AND PANIC!

Hahahaha... WANKERS! *KABLAM!* Tell ya what? If I ever get an online system (Not likely), I'll help ya blow 'em to Kingdom Come. Deal?

Halo Wars sounds pretty awesome, considering how I just found out that Halogen (http://halogen.slipstreamproductions.net/) was cancelled. [Fucking Microsoft. ]

It has to be said that im never really fond of games that go from one genre to another. It always has the distinct sound of trying to milk the franchise. Don't get me wrong, If it get some good reviews and a fair amount of people like it, i'll get it. Obviously I don't mind trying them out to see if they're any good (hell, i've gotten the metal gear games and I got the Metal Gear Acid games so its not like im totally against them). All I can really say is that they should try to use the source material as best they can.

Oh and for the record, I thought Halo 1 was good but overrated and Halo 2 was the biggest pile of Donkey shite since Devil May Cry 2 as far as sequels go.

Halo 1- Good, overrated, but good.
Halo 2- The same. Good, but overrated. My main complaint was how little of the game was set on Earth, compared to how much we were led to believe it was going to be. First few levels are FANTASTIC, and everything between there and Gravemind is just ok. The levels after you have met The Gravemind are good again.

Well, now you know why Halogen was killed off.

Anyone else see the other stuff they showed off at X06? If I was a FPS shooter fan, I'd be in love with the 360 now, and Microsoft seem to be doing everything right with the console now. Also, some of the games shown are actually looking like true next-gen, in that they are not just graphical upgrades. I wasn't expecting to be impressed by Assassins Creed, but I was, because of the gamieplay elements that simply wouldn't have been possible before. Live arcade is getting better and better, too.

Looks like Mircosoft, like Nintendo, seem to understand what gaming is really about: the games. The whole press meeting, excluding the HD-DVD add-on, was all about the games. Sony should take a leaf out of their book.

Mind you, did anyone see the Banjo-Kazooie trailer? They look as though Dreamworks have re-designed them. Ugh.

Also, can you people give topic titles that give us the foggiest idea what said topics are going to be about? "The end is near" could be about anything.

:D Colossal post of mostly farsical facetious rhetorical bullshit rambling. :D

News that Assasins Creed is heading to 360 made me a very happy man, solely for the reason that I dont play enough games on my pc to warrant spending sixty million quid to pimp it up.
Considering buying Oblivion for my 360 as well :g-winky:

And yeah, if you're an FPS shooter fan, 360 is the bees knees.
(Although as soon as they get games that aren't Red Steel [which I think looks naff!] the Wii is going to be the one for FPS games. Actually aiming by pointing with your hand, rather then fiddle with an analogue thumbstick? Wooooooo!)

And of course, SonicAdventure 3Next gen is out in November.

Back to Halo Wars- I'm asking for a bit much here, but I want it to be "to scale".
Something that always annoys me about RTS games is how most units are half the size of your buildings.
Those Scarab's (ie, Gigantic Robotic Four Legged Thing OF DOOM) are probably going to be like, four times the size of a tank or something.
Wheras on Halo 2, during the third level, that piddly little tank positioned on the bridge was not only 1/30th of the things size, but did zero damage to it before it got Big Green Laser up in it's shit.

Bah.

But then again, I'm talking about a game involving little aliens just larger than a subway sandwich, that speak in high pitched cowardly squeals, (and are ironically always the ones that kill me because I'm going for the big guys who are actually threatening :g-twitch:) and a big ring that can blow up the universe.

That's a thought- They should set this between Halo 2 and 3, when the Covenant are invading Earth, and when the Covenant are stuck in a civil war.
"Wait, so the Covenant get skinny pricks with shields, who run like girls at the first sign of danger (although give them distance + a sniper weapon, and they're a bloody pain). The big hairy idiots who are just strong pussies. And those annoying flying things. While the seperatists get the Elites, the annoying midgets, and the frigging massive gits with armour and cannons?"
How the hell did the Covenant successfully invade Earth if they lost all their good soldiers?!
Man, humans are wimps in the future. :g-neko:

Don't suppose anyone has downloaded the free Sonic 360 demo yet? I've heard a lot of people saying that's it's no less clumsy control and camera wise than previous 3D sonics.

It's online?
Whoo-hoo.
I shall download at some point tonight and proclaim my thoughts.

EDIT: After deciding to drop everything I was doing, I have just flicked my 360 on, connected it, and am now downloading the demo.
If I remember it while playing the hell out of KH2, I'll make a thread reviewing it's Sonic-ness.

Re-designed?

Banjo and Kazooie looked exactly like they did in the old N64 games and concept renders, all that is different is that Banjo is slightly more square in places, nothing major.

Actually I thought they looked pretty awesome, only major gripe I'd have with it is that Banjo's eyes are too small, they make him look pretty sleepy. They still sound like they did and not replaced with random annyoing voices.

There were a few games that caught my eye at TGS, mainly Devil May Cry 4, Armoured Core 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4. Those may end up beinging some of my favourites on the PS3 already. Assassins Creed seems interesting too. Also I would like to take this time to inform everyone that the FULL Gran Turismo well end up costing someone close to $900 so that game is no good.

EDIT: Ah this is a Xbox topic eh? well I have to say, Lost Oddesy looks like it will end up being a MUST own, but I thought the same off 99 Nights (which after playing, seemed like a bet of a let down)

Lost Oddesey, Lost Planet, and Lost...hmm...
All three look brilliant. (I have the demo of Lost Planet. It's great)
