Destineer today announced that it will bring Fullmetal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy to the Nintendo DS. Based on the popular anime currently airing on Adult Swim, Dual Sympathy is slated for release this fall.

"With Fullmetal Alchemist, our goal is to deliver a thrilling interactive experience that is authentic to the TV show by incorporating the character voices and cinematic scenes, as well as the uniquely compelling use of alchemy," said Paul Rinde, CEO of Destineer. "There is certainly a groundswell of anticipation already brewing and we are excited to be kicking off the first in a series of Fullmetal Alchemist games with a wonderfully creative Nintendo DS offering."

Full Metal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy puts players in the auto-mail of state alchemist Edward Elric and his younger brother Alphonse Elric as they strive to retrieve the Philospher's Stone, a mythical object fabled to grant its user the ability to perform human transmutation. Alchemy plays a significant role in the gameplay as each of the game's six players has his own unique alchemical attacks.

The game covers the entirety of the anime series' storyline in its two modes of play: Story Mode and Character Mode. Story Mode follows the Elric brothers on their quest while Character Mode allows players to play as supporting characters from the show such as Roy Mustang, Alex Louis Armstrong, and Scar. The game features full voice-overs from the American cast of the anime series and unlockable content including character galleries and cinematics from the anime. Additionally, there are more than ten touch screen mini-games such as "Whack-a-Homunculus" and "Fullmetal vs. Flame."

I dobut Nintendo had anything to do with the game, other than publishing it. It's just another anime game, after all.
