Alright folks?
You may notice the rules state that the mods turn a blind eye to swearwords, yes?
How-ever, im not entirely stupid, and Im fully aware that some of you will have "strict" parents whom wouldn't want their little darlings to be corrupted by foul mouthed so and so's.
Or maybe you just don't like swear words. Well in the words of Professor Farnsworth:
Good news everyone!
Theres now a section in User CP --- Options (http://www.sprites-inc.co.uk/forum/profile.php?do=editoptions) (Bottom) --
For you to be able to censor certain words. These'll only affect you, and only you. So if for some reason you don't like the words Oliver Cromwell (not blaming you), enter that into the Censoring box and those words will be replaced with *****. No annoyed parents. No foul language. Simple.
Theres a reason this is a seperate news post to the other "Upgrades" one, mostly because its a pretty darn important addition.
If you want a list of recommend curses to add, click below, and copy and paste that into the Censor Box:
(Warning.. obviously, swear words. :g-laugh: )
fuck {fuck} shit {shit} bastard {bastard} cunt {cunt} nigger {nigger} wanker {wanker}
It should be noted, anyone actually found using the N word will most likely be banned off the forums. It's just there for completeness sake.
That's a good idea, lots of people might use that

Should be noted: Mods - should anyone complain about swearing, point them to this thread.

Very helpful, now I can mark a certain three letter word so that I can use it in posts now.
My only real question now is does this give a *** on all of our previous posts or only the ones after we mark the word?

The censorship only works for you, so say you add Oliver Cromwell to the censor box, and then type Oliver Cromwell in a post, it'll only be censored for you.
Everyone else will still see Oliver Cromwell, unless they've added Oliver Cromwell to their censor boxes.
The feature's there so teachers and parents won't see you viewing "naughty words" :p

Fifth word in the list of swearwords ACE posted. Not counting the ones in the {}-thingies.

It's a derogitory term for african. Actually, it's a derogitory term for african-american, but it evolved to be universal.
Yeah, I know what it is, I just didn't see the box thingy...

the spanish word for black actually is negro or negra depending on male or female but I do want to know how it is diragatory when African-Americans call each other it all the time, and how only cucasians are the only ones that can be racist?

It's derogatory all of the time. Black people, however (not African Americans. The very term is ignorant), say have changed the meaning of it to good the way the Nazi's changed the meaning of the Swastika to bad (using this as a loose metaphor). Of course, there's debate over this, but we simply keep the word or any form out of this forum.

For an example on how to understand the censorship mod, here is a sample GG Hendrix post and how it will look post-censorship.

As Seahorse clearly has no knowledge of the Swastika, consult The Lazy Man's Guide...I mean, wikipedia.

A bit off topic, but if you allow me to correct this, negro and noir, both are coming from nigrum, the accusative form of the latin word niger. Niger means "black" in latin and is often used in latin plant names, like "Helleborus niger" or "Hyoscyamus niger".
To topic, i think it's a good thing.
But, my english is so bad, that i'm not able to understand most of the shorted terms or slang in forums and so on, that's why those little words doesn't disturb me really much xD

You just add that word too...

Trying to deliberately avoid the censors will result in a warning, usually.
Also, stop. There's no need to "test the censors;" that's what the first post of this thread was for.
