This game is based off my comic with the same name. I've finally decided to make a game for it. This game will be part 1 of a 3(maybe more) part series.
List of what will be in it(Main Menu)
Story Mode- You play as either Matt or Trav and the story is different depending on who you choose
Team Mode- *Explained Below*
Options- Controls and other things
Small chance of a multiplayer mode.
How Story Mode functions
The Story
The unthinkable has finally happened. A top ranking guardian has betrayed the guardians. After a mission to find out why a factory that's remained inactive for years has suddenly become active again vent was knocked out by a fellow guardian. The guardians Tarkaris, Chi and Atton rescued vent and brought him back to the Guardian's new base. Trav and Pride were talking about things near the ocean when the Syndicate member Ken appeared and attacked. A voice came out of nowhere yelling "STOP THIS YOU IDIOTS!". The guardian Matt appeared from out of nowhere. The princess, pride, was revealed to have been kidnapped and matt's girlfriend, Elli, was using a type of cloaking device to make it seem as though she was pride. Trav realized that Matt was behind everything that happened during the day as the guardian Drake attacked Matt and failed. *WARNING- The following is spoilers for the end of season 1- WARNING*
Matt and Elli transported away from the base with Trav on there tail. Trav caught up to them as the Syndicate members Kojiben and Vorgoth attacked the remaining guardians at their HQ. Trav activated his Double Rock-on and charged at Matt to begin an event that he never saw coming

3)Which version of the game do you guys want?
An RPG version with MMBN like overworlds(they wouldn't be diagonal). The battle system would be turn-based with alot of strategy, i.e when the best time to use a model is. You'd get tons of parts to customize the model's with and lots of different style's and weapons for your characters human form. The battles would still use ZX style sprites(yay) It'd also be longer and easier for me to tell all the story i need to include, plus i could probably get i done quicker. I'd probably be able to get a MMORPG version up a little while after it's finished. I might be able to have the random battles function like Tales series battles with ZX style combat
or
The original ZX style version. It'd probably take longer to do and it'd be shorter and harder for me to compress the story. Each model would get upgraded weapons with more power and range. The difficulty would be about the same.
As a reward for the game staff they will get both version's considering i'll probably need their help with sprites, ETC for all 3 games. They'd also get exclusive use of their model in the MMORPG i'd make for the RPG version of the game.
4) GB is getting a Freewebs site, which is currently 25% done. The demo is taking a little longer as i'm re-making standing, walking & running poses to suit the combo style. It's coming along though, the incomplete battle system works fine and all i have to do for it is find out how to add stats and such to it
5) Story, Team, The Demo's and Multiplayer descriptions removed until final version of game decided
Rags soul probaly a supporting role or a person to play as in team mode
It'll probably be the same for Jace and Marino then.

Using GM? Cool. Anyway, as far as I can tell, this will be great! If you manage to get everything done and actully complete the project. I hope your good at GML, as this will require alot of programming.
For Multiplayer, you mean online or same comp? (If online, I suggest something like a MMO) The way your going to mix RPG elements and Platformer elements, it seems to be like Castlevaina (if you haven't played it, play it, its awesome, mainly Castlevaina: Dawn of Sorrow. For DS.)
Anyway, good luck and have fun doing it, otherwise it'll never get done. I would know :g-Gaga: .

I mean online. I've played both Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow. Never played Symphony of the night though. This is the first game i'll have ever made. I'm going to try and get online multiplayer. Unfortunatly i don't know if i can still get a license for GM5.3A, my comp can't handle any version of 6. I have a newer comp but my dad's not done putting everything onto it. It dosen't help that the comp i'm using now's video card died we're using the video card from the newer comp till we get a new video card
@Rags&Jace- Zero was right on target. Soul, Jace, Atton, ETC are supporting characters in the story mode but are playable in team mode.
Note: if this game was to be rated by the ESRB they'd have to rate it M cause of the language and some blood(AHAHAHAHAHA!)

Ok. If you need help with programming with GM, I can help, but I've only used GM 6, so yea. You may want to experiment with GM first though, and check out their forums if this is your first time with GM. (I'm assuming you are)

Hey TAoR, if you look up the Megaman ZT topic on this forum, there's an example of a gm driven MMX engine if you wanna take a look at it. : ) It should be pretty easy to convert to an MMZ format, I think.

@Everyone- Everyone who's part of the GB Game team including those with characters in the comic will get accounts on the GB IF board today.
QQ: once i finish part 1 of GB would you guys rather have a GB MMORPG or part 2? Both will get made no matter what i just want to know which one you guys want first
Oh yeah, they'll be unlockable mini-games like a hover board racing game in all three games. Like 10-20 different mini-games in each.
Notice: Once demo 1 is released i'll open the GB IF board to everyone and people will be able to say what they want to see in the game

I was working for next week but i'm getting my pre-ordered copy of ZX so it might be out next week as it's getting simplified to a battle between Trav and Matt(you play as trav) with unlockable playable character Tarkaris. During this weekend when i post 012 i'll make a second post that has a code to unlock Soul and Tarkaris. The post will only be able to be seen for 1 hour then i'll mute it.

I can really help if you plan on making a basic megaman engine (Basic as in running, jumping, proper collision), and a megaman-style ladder system. I'll help if you want. I can show you an example of what I've done before and can do (Megaman: Giga Threat and the sniper joe game (that game is where Jett Indie comes from. I've completed it too.) and that non-megaman game)
I can also help with other parts of the physics and bosses/enemies. Vote me for president :g-winky: . Sorry, thats what it sounded like when I was typing this post :g-Gaga: . Anyway, but yea, I can help with some problems you may run into. Don't hesitate to ask for help.

It includes the basis for melee and cannon characters, though it is a bit advanced too. The Scripts for Churchill show how to set up a cannon guy while the scripts for melee/bisping show how to set up a basic melee guy. Vera's motion scripts also show how to set up Attack+direction specialized attacks.

Sure. Now for the hard question. Should they be dead and Trav remembers them in flashbacks or do you want them to be alive and at the Guardian HQ?
@Kojiben- 1) Yes, if you play as trav. 2) As you guys know now Matt is the betrayer. With Trav you fight all the evil charcters except matt and elli in a team battle and in single battles eventually just as the direct opposite happens when you play as matt, you fight each guardian in a team battle and single battle eventually.
Well, I'd rather Trav's family be alive, if that's not a problem.

Look, I'm out of your list means that I won't ask to team up with your char.
Plus YES Team Bosses suck.. Look at the Beetle Bros in Zero... Plus Look at Prometheus & Pandora they don't have much attacks (almost only double team atkz.)

I thought those team boss fights where cool and a good idea.

I never played against Prometheus & Pandora but I did see a vid on youtube that looks like a good fight.
But thats your opinion and I can't change it so oh well.

Team bosses will be different, it's not going to be the classic one character attacks while the other is off screen like in MMZ2 and ZX. You'll fight both at once and they have sperate life gauges and they share a tem gauge. When the team gauge is full they unleash a devestating attack. On easy mode beating one of the bosses ends the battle though in Normal, Hard and Ultimate modes you have to deplete both enemies life gauges. In ultimate mode you have to master dodging each characters attacks cause they move insanely fast and can kill you in about 5 second if you aren't careful. That's why ultimate mode will have special rewards for beating it, like unlocking pandora and prometheus in team mode
@KR- It's not a problem. Though i personally think it'd be better if Trav was trying to find Tom cause he killed the rest of the family but it's your character so i'll go with them being alive.
Note: Depending on how much of my time ZX takes away i may have the demo ready in a week or so

That's awesome!
Will the end boss be different depending on the character you play as?
Ex: Trav if you play as Matt and vice versa?

Yep, they fight the other character, though matt also fights vent and aile in a team battle before he fights trav
I forgot to mention this but Matt is getting a new model: Alteisen, which makes it's first apperance in the storyline during this game.
Will Trav and Matt have to fight each other's ultimate forms?

To tell you the truth, I don't think we will get far with this game. We don't even have a engine yet.
I have started a ZX engine before and was pretty damn hard as a matter a fact I think I will finish it.
I got running, jumping, ducking, crawling, and transforming basically. It is easy to make the dashing and shooting but I am having trouble with wall jumps so the engine will be finish pretty soon and you might be able to use it to speed up things then all we would need is someone to make the stages, music, sprites, story, and cutscenes.

@Kojiben- thanks. The story's basically done(yay:D ). Getting people to make cutscenes and backgrounds is the only problem, especially since i don't think i'll be able to find anyone to draw anime movie cutscenes or normal cutscenes
By anime cutscenes... do you mean animated? I could probably do non-color still frames... but not animated.

NOTE2: I honestly would rather do the RPG version cause of the reasons stated for it. Plus i kinda favor RPG's over other types of genre's. I'm leaving it up to you guys though

I prefer platformer style...
or if you're gonna go with a RPG game, go with a Tales Of.. battle style.

@KR- it it becomes rpg it's be like the Tales series because i'd want combat to be familiar to people who like ZX. However, if it's not possible using GM it'll be turn-based with a few differences from the norm
@Zero- There 4 characters on a 2D area. The characters with weapons are meant to run up to the enemy and attack. Magic user's cast spells from the opposite side of the area. That's a simple explanation. If you want i'll go search youtube for a battle video

Do you know how to do stats? I have done a *very* simple version of them, but it's relitively easy to do. Basiclly, you set the stats in the game start event, and have a persistent object that keeps track of the stats with global variables. Then when you attack (or get hit) you set the factors that affect how much damage you do (or take) and such. For EXP, you have a base EXP amount to grow levels, and when you level up, you add more, so it requires more EXP to level up. This is all more or less theory, but it should work.
For enemy stats, you just set it in their create event and keep track of it in their object. Simple? More or less.
A lot of things when you maek games sounds simple though

Ugh, have you gotten to the game's engine yet? I am telling you if you do not no how to use game maker then all of your effort you put in these sprites will be for nothing. I need to see the engine, have you ever programmed game maker?
I thought it was gonna be a breeze but it wasn't. Plus I used scripts and codes which are REALLY DIFFICULT because 1 error will mess up everything that is why you need to consitrate on the engine and we haven't even seen progress from screen shots or nothing. Your comic is starting to become dead too cuz u haven't updated in a while. The last thing you need is sprites cuz they are so easy to make for gifs.

To get a screen shot hit the "print screen" key above the arrows on the right, then go into a paint program and go to edit, paste. If that doesn't work try ctr print screen. Then do what's after the first step.

I have school too, if I had to update I can do it 2 times each day of the week besides saturday.
Plus I am making a movie using a online game and its far more harder than making a comic. So I just don't see whats going on and I doubt it has anything to do with the game.
I want to see atleast 1 pic of the game so I can actually believe its true and to keep my hopes up.

I say HELL NO TO THAT! Just make a freakin platformer like ZX and Mega Man Zero. Its stupid (no offense) to wast time making two engines that take 1 HELL OF A TIME.
Its obvious that this whole time you have been working on sprites and not the game otherwise you would have never said such things as to making 2 damn demos.
I told you this before that making a Mega Man Zero/Zx engine is tuff and I suggest you stick with 1 engine and that is platformer cuz for 1 it won the vote, 2 ZX and MMZ are platformers not strategy, 3 HOW THE HELL WOULD YOU MAKE A TALES OF... ONLINE!?
I played both Tales Of Legendia and Tales Of Symphonia and I am telling you that just does not fit in with Mega Man. Stick with the basic platformer and it will rock like no tommorrow. But this is my opinion...:cool:

Ummm, yeah. The final version of the game will be more of a Summon Night/Tales/ZX combo considering for a little while and during some of the major fights you only play as 1 character though for the most part you play as a team of 3. You select 2 partners from the remaining characters on the side of the character you choose. There will be roughly 10hrs of extras or more probably

@Kojiben- i'm working the comic as it's more important than the game right now. Once i finish season 1 i'll be able to focus more on the game and another game called Cosmic Gaga Inc Adventures(it's a short nes MM style game) that would serve as something to get me used to using GM. I'm going to make a topic for it when i get home
Question- The demo might be of a dungeon style version(using chibi sprites) in which for the most part you fight in the dungeon area's though bosses would very likely be fought in platformer style. However, there'd be a team mode in ZX style that could be unlocked fairly easily. What do you think?
Note- i'd still have stats and such though no levels or exp. You'd get Ability Points with which to power up your stats. Each enemy would give you a specific number of AP depending on how powerful the enemy is. You'd also get to select 2 team members that travel with you and can be told how to fight. It' be basically MML with stats and top-down veiw, ... and a huge overworld. You'd still jump around, dash, roll to dodge attacks and such but it'd all be from a top-down view.
Soit's now like the new Final Fantasy.

Making it from a down view is stupid to me because now everyone has to make additional sprites for the normal walking running dash and such in a downward view which will be hard. Give us some screenies before you start saying such things like that because you never know.
I would feel alot better about this game if you showed us SCREENSHOTS!
I would have loved this game if it where like ZX but now you just completly changed it from a MM ZX game to a Final Fantasy/Tales of... game with megaman characters.

Ever played a dungeon crawler type game? It's like that but with much more freedom
About screenshots, i'm working on it. Though i need at least a full set of chibi styled Model K sprites W/attacks(i can do most of the enemies like mettaurs) before i can get the demo ready. I also need help with panels so i can create the area's for the demo
All the sprites would be in S.C's chibi style. though you'd need to make standing, walking, running, and attacks in all 8 directions. The chibi sprites aren't hard to make. S.C said that it only takes him 30seconds to do each pose for the chibi's
I don't like the idea of fighting in an RPG type view... I'd go with random battles with a "Tales of" battle system...
or just go with a ZX style game

Everyone has their model from the beginning. Though because of an event that occurs during 014 & 015 you have to find the other guardians. Each of the guardians will be in a dungeon, you can get them in any order you want. Rescueing the other guardians is only about a fourth of Trav's story. I can't say what happens during the second and third sections but i can say that the fourth is them going to attempt to defeat Matt.
Matt's(my) story is unlocked by beating Trav's. It functions differently cause you'll have access to every partner at the very beginning though it's still a long game. I can't say anything about Matt's side of the story as it spoils alot about Trav's story.
There are no Forceroids(i refuse to call them by the dubbed name) though there are a special type of mech called Seroid's. They are empty shells but when a biometal is implanted in the seroid it turns in to the model for but it's controlled by the biometal
Trust me though, the dungeon style will work out fine. You can still fight enemies in a random battle function if you run into enemies(it will happen more frequently as you progress through the game) and if enemies run into you. Bosses will still be fought in tales estique battles. Hell, the very first battle is a boss battle against Matt. Model R will teleport to one of the 4 corners unleashing a different attack from each corner. The game will pic up a little while before the end of season one though just to recap a few things for people who haven't read GB
The difficulty of this game will be much more difficult then you've ever seen in a game. Imagine MMZ's difficulty x10. The first level will be a tutorial so you understand how to play. Unlike platformer MM games though you don't get lives. You have to bring along either energy tanks or a character who has stat-affecting spells(yes, magic gets involved because of an event that happens soon in the comic). There will be some characters you've never met in GB yet. I had to get some female characters in the game somehow.
Multiplayer- Multiplayer will be a vast world different from the main game(hell, it'll be a seperate game in itself cause i doubt i can get a license for GM 5.3 still). You'll be able to create a character and alter the colors and such though if you have a character in the comic i'll give you a code to give you access to your character. You'll be able to make team's of up to 5 people and go adventureing throughout the hopefully 150+ dungeons finding better weapons and unlocking new abilities. There will be an area called the Digital Coliseum, it's just a Holo area where you can either fight one-one or team battles against others. I'd hopefully be able to add to the game every so often though i'd need people to help monitor the game once it's done. You'll also be able to use a multitude of different classes in the game. Each class will give your character different abilities which you can power up with AP as well as still being able to power-up your stats. While characters won't level up your classes will. To level up a class you'll have to complete missions in different dungeons and collect items around the area. Characters in the main game will have special unique classes in the main game and the MMO version.
Note- I'll hopefully have some screenshots up this weekend

And I don't think anyone else does, either... You should be able to explore dungeons and stuff, but not actually fight in the overworld. When you run into enemies, you should go into a battle.
I'm gonna try to make a custom RPG overworld for everyone to use as a base... but the whole attacking in overworld just strikes me as stupid.

It might(big might) end up being that you can stun enemies with a long or get a first hit with a close-range attack in the overworld

No, I just described the basic RPG gameplay style.
I agree with King Reaper about the style of game this is.
First of all, might I point out that the ZX style won the pole? Why have a pole when your not gonna give fans what they want? I am sure its a good idea to be original but this does not, I repeat DOES NOT FIT GOOD WITH ZX.
I am telling you that making a ZX game would be SO COOL. It could be just like ZX where all the worlds are connected so you will have side quest, main missions, shops for weapons and goodies, talking to people in town. Also you can add more like you could have police in the city so that if you kill somoene in town they will come after your ass like Grand Theft Auto. Now how many people like this idea better than the RPG stuff he is feeding us right now?
Also if you make this game online and have servers it would be SO FREAKIN COOL if you could talk to other players from across the world. Their could be restrictions to so they can't fight you in the City and only in some kinda place like the Wilderness from RS. I would play that game forever and ever and ever. It would be better than ZX itself if the engine is made correctly and the story isn't shitty.:cool:

I think what you should do is make it so that it is normally overworld but when you collide with an enemy you go into a ZX style fight. I have an idea for a game sort of like that, but I'm not good enough at spriting or Game Maker to make it yet :g-sad: .
You know what since your going on making a RPG...
Then I have to say one more thing. If you ever make a RPG game again leave it out of the MMX MMZ and MMZX series because it doesn't fit it and what your making doesn't even seem like a Mega Man game anymore.
You didn't make the poll just so you would make a game for the fans, you made the poll because you thought everyone would want a RPG but now they don't they wanted a RPG.
You need to lay off of playing Tales Of... or and other RPG for a while and make a classic ZX game and not ruin peoples dreams.
Like I said in some other post I made, this is like some RPG with ZX characters and thats it. It doesn't seem like playing a Mega Man game and now it will be ruined so good luck making this game because it will take one hell of a long time.

The main area for a while in the game is basically an underground cavern with 8 different out-branching areas. They need areas of jumping over spikes, bottomless pits and an area with a glowing door(with a seal on it, i'll pm you a pic of the seal when i find it), other than that just be creative with it
Note- Even though the final version of the game is a dungeon type game with ZX combat there is a huge amount of cutscens in ZX style areas. Plus because i love ZX there will be around 20 platformer sections(they won't be too short. probably like 15min-1hour each). The towns will possibly be in platformer style

The music if from Star Ocean 2nd Story battle music and its crap. Like I said he is making ZX into a rpg with MM characters. I beat that game and most of the RPGs you have played I played and beaten them. If your gonna make this RPG atleast use remixed Mega Man music instead of RPG you like.

I have an idea, I will make a ZX engine and stuff and have a demo ready by next week for the use of Vent and Model X just to show you how cool it would be.
I started this engine like a month ago but didn't get a chance to finish because of school.
If the engine is good and useable all we need is events and mappers.
To me making the characters is the hardest and longest thing to do but I think I got it under control.

Anyways, the game I have decided on will have it so you can chose between two model styles.
X and Zero...
This means if you pick X then you will obtain Models that use long range, if you chose Zero you will obtain Models that have melee range.
And now when you combine them you will now get 2 sets like this:

I don't know the models I will include but hopefully if some people submit Models and characters than that would be great, but they have to look good like as if capcom made them and I am pretty sure their is alot of people capable of creating such great Models.
They game will have a story but if its online I will problembly make it never end this means there will be bosses and such but once you complete that mission I will update the game and add new story elements and such.
But anyways thats all the stuff I have to say because I don't want to promise alot and end up not finishing so I will hop to making such things.

No its 100% original, well the slash atleast.
Their is a little edit to his body so it won't look like the rest of Giro's slashes but the blade it self is all my doing.

@tuna- ..., the topic isn't to discuss kojiben's spriting skills. It's to discuss the game i'm making for to fill in some upcoming gaps from season 1 and 2 as well as later seasons and recently to see what kojiben's doing in his game(it might be better to make a topic for it though kojiben).

I know, its not my fault he slashes slow actually, its the rate in the speed. But I am not finished yet with the slash, when I get off of school I will work on it some more. Right now I am in Tech Systems so I g2g.

Appearently I re-installed my computer cuz it had viruses due to going to myspace which I advice none of you go to go their. Anyways I saved all my data to cd so I can resume my game :D.
I hate my space...
So did it damage any of the files or are they all still fine?

@Kojiben- If you read this then know that to make this more interesting you have 3 days from when you now(whenever you're reading this) to finish the demo or the game will be a uber-wicked RPG
BTW- Nobody reply till kojiben posts in here to acknowledge it, no the rpg won't suck ass if kojiben doesn't succeed
I am still working on it, its just that I want to make it right, and since its a full it is a little hard cuz I don't really do stages. I can only really do a layout and make a MMZ type engine. But I think I can manage.

Thanks, but how would you upload it to me? Anyways I have the boss, a few enemies and the main character Vent and only Model X.
Problembly no sound though even though it is easy, I just might put in sound but the music will be in their. It will play Break Out from MMZ 3 which is the intro music.

Yeah, but taor.... you're the one who made it into a bet in the first place. : )By that view, you could dissolve the bet yourself by your own choice and still keep your word by waiting since you were the biggest supporter of the RPG format.

Kojiben agreed to the bet, i asked him if he wanted to make it a bet and he said yes
I could dissolve the bet but i'm still working on things for Rockman 9. I don't really care which one but the bet ended yesterday so we're goin' with RPG, the game's mainly just to provide alot of story which i probably couldn't do in a platformer. Though i am trying to get better with GM, there will still be a MMO platformer version eventually
Ok that sounds pretty cool and an RPG will still be really good.
