Is it the sprites or flash?

Lately i have been trying to make a few animations, but whenever i have a sprite sheet and try to break apart the sheet, it just doen't do it. I can't select any of the images or sprites on the sheet to be made into a graphic. Is it the sprites fault or flash's fault, or is it that i am doing something wrong or i have to edit the image?

First, import the sheet to your library. Then right click on the image and select properties. You want a GIF/PNG without smoothing.

Drag it to your stage (you may need to make a keyframe first).

Then while the image is selected, choose modify > bitmap > trace bitmap.

Then change the options to:

Pixels
Many Corners

The image should break into individual blocks of colours. Delete the background (sheets from SI don't have backgrounds), and cut out the sprites you want to animate. Delete the rest.
