The original, ORIGINAL Star Wars on DVD. Unaltered. None of the crappy edit -"lets include the new crappy Anakin actor for no reason other to piss off fans"- Lucas has finally done the smart thing and is going to be releasing them.

Hurrah.

Hooray! I was stuck with the old Videotaped Special Edition version of Star Wars fearing that the DVD version would remain the "fixed up to keep up with Episode 1-3" version. Eh, when I find time I'll go get it. :D

Cool. Now all we need is a large boxed set.

Dude, sweet stuff.... too bad I already own it on VHS and have absolutely no desire to buy it again even if it is on a better format.

?...I don't get it. I have the special edition DVD set of the original trilogy. What exactly is different about it besides the obvious special effects additions?

Well anyway, I checked out that page, and it appears that Lego Star Wars II is going to be released on the same date. The first game, to my surprise, was quite fun and i'll be looking forward to this. ^^

Lucas made several changes, to those that have watched the originals over adn over, are not acceptable. The aforementioned use of the new Ankakin during the ending, Greedo shooting Holo first, minor things which ruined parts of the films.
The worst one was replacing Boba Fett's voice - as minor as he is, at least he had a cool voice in the originals. Now he sounds.. well.. not cool. XD

Yeah, its fanboyish, but the changes made a noticably notch down on the enjoyment factor on the three films. Probably because it tried to "remind us" of Episodes 1 - 3. We no-one liked. Or something. Bleh.

Now I can finally get DVDs of the origonal trilogy! Huzzah! No more watching through the super-special Special Editions and then bitching about how they replaced Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christiansen, or that Tamara Morrison makes a lousy Fett or that the Sarlacc pit has a beak, and that they replaced the wolfman in the cantina scene with something else or that Greedo shoots at all, or the god-awful CGI Jabba the Hutt in that lost scene which shoulda stayed lost in A New Hope.

Though I am gonna miss the Outrider taking off from Mos Eisley from that added fotage, along with the statue of Prince Xixor being toppled on Coruscant, and Femi Taylor reprising her Oola role for the added scene in Return of the Jedi. I also have a fondness for the redone Max Rebo music scene, even if Sy Snootles looks like crap. I still like that scene.

I know they tweaked the very end by having Anakin in place of the other actor. Did they prat about with the part where Vader is unmasked at the brink of death?

Never liked Mr eyebrows anyway.

Aha, now I see the meaning behind this. :) I didn't notice those changes in the "altered" trilogy, but maybe that's because it's been (almost) a decade since I watched the unaltered movies.
